Best reason to get a dr650 is the forum support. Literally 20 years worth of questions mods and solutions
Lovely bike! Tried and tested.👌🏼
Health to ride. ☺️👍
Thanks buddy 🙏
Great review and thoughts 💪🏽
Welcome to the sandpit. Enjoy and safe riding.
Thanks buddy, can’t wait to get out and explore as it cools a little. Have you been out here a while? Let me know if you fancy a meet up, be good to get some local knowledge 👍
@@lightweightadv ha been here for donkey ears.
Sure. You come often to Dxb?! Maybe I invite over for a pint or two
Sounds great, if you fire me a message on our email lightweightadv@gmail.com we can see what we can get sorted 👍
Its so popular because its the best motorcycle ever built
Wow, now there’s a statement 💪
Everyone should buy a DR650.
So far I certainly agree 😎
The DR650 is a little heavy, the price and cost of fixing the small niggles with the DR will still put you below the others. There is also the fact that oil cooling works better in the bush than water cooling.
Yeah, I think a little weight can be lost for sure which like you say should be cheap enough. 👍
Expected to hear the sound at the end.
Ah bugger, yes you are right, that would have been a great ending, I should definitely have done that!
Everything you said is spot on. There is a reason this bike is so respected in the category and has been unchanged for years. I want one.
Ah thanks buddy, yeah I feel very fortunate that I can have one, really excited to properly take it out and explore 😎
I love mine. It is a '19 and is just a great bike. You made a good choice. Have fun!
Ah awesome, that’s great to hear, thanks buddy 😎
I also have a '19. Great machine.
Keep it forever. it can be passed down several more generations. Enjoy
Well that is certainly the plan and I have to be honest I think I might achieve it 😎
Analogue is the way forward. Seems that you and Itchy Boots agree. (So do I)
It would certainly seem that way 😎
Brilliant bike. I wish they were still available new in Europe.
Yes, all the reviews I have seen have definitely said the same 😎
100% correct.
Thanks buddy 🙏
Butter knife......Damn! Just when I thought I'd got everything I might need in the toolroll! 😂🤣
Your welcome 😂 we’re always full of useful tips on here, we’ve got you covered 👌🤣
More reliable than any Landrover
I certainly hope so 😂
A farmer's dead horse is more reliable than a Landover!!....😂😂😂😂
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... you saw my DR350 and got as close as possible...😅
Busted, was hoping I was subtle enough for you not to notice 🤦🏻♂️ you know you have always been an idol of mine
@@lightweightadv 🤣 more idle these days while I keep damaging myself
Enjoy that old school thumper👍🏼
@robertreid833 will try mate 😎
Love the Defender analogy 👌🏼 such a cool Bike Marc, the best reason 😎 … how about riding it back to the LWAF 25 😉😂
Hey Si, gotta say I’m a little disappointed you called me Marc here! 🤔 you do know that Marc is in South America and is a completely different person right? 😂
I don’t think a ride from here to uk will be on the cards for next year but might well be a thing at some point, would be a great trip 😎
So sorry Jamie!! Sincere apologies 🙏🏼
@silewis65 😂 no love loss here mate, hope you are keeping well 😘
Because they don’t sell the Husqvarna 701 out there. 😂
😂 that’s actually one of the few dual sports that are available haha
@@lightweightadv Really, I’m surprised you didn’t buy one then as they’re a good all-rounder 👍
@701Adventures was honestly very tempted but this just seemed a better fit for what I was after. I can certainly see a 701 in my future at done point though 😜
You will love it. Also you can drop the height it by 40mm yourself, simple process and all you need to buy is new fork oil. Is my favourite bike all time, and I have owned more than 20 bikes! It will never be sold.
Ah that’s great to hear. The height seems not too bad at the moment but if I did want to alter it do you have any advice on that? Cheers mate
@@lightweightadvyes first thing to do is purchase the Clymer Manual, it is a must have for this bike. For the front forks all you need to do is relocate the spacer in both forks from top of fork to bottom of forks and replace the fork oil. For the rear shock you need to flip the spring seat collar and move the lower bolt from the bottom mount hole to the upper mount hole. This is the genuine inbuilt Suzuki lowering method and will drop the height by 40mm and the riding dynamics will not be compromised.
Wow, that sounds awesome, thanks for the advice buddy, I will check it out and get the manual ordered 🙏
Had one and it was a lot of fun. But do yourself a favour and spend the money on upgrading the suspension, exhaust, large fuel tank, and a better seat. Great bike, but it’s not great for long days on the highway.
Oh cool, are these the main upgrades I should be thinking of then? I will be planning to do some travel on it obviously, as well as some sand bashing and mountain trails
@@lightweightadv suspension is probably the main upgrade
@KeepItSimpleSailor thanks buddy, I’ll have to have a look around. I guess it’s both front and back that would need doing?
@@lightweightadv yes, front and rear - but heaps of aftermarket bolt up parts are available
Awesome, thanks buddy
