1991 as a "weird" 15 year old - as the dad of one of my brothers friends described me! - would have told myself that smoking was a very stupid thing to do, and my friends were a bad influence on me...Which my mum told me, but, of course I didn't listen.
Same here. I so wish I could go back and do it all again. I would definitely stress less and just have the best fun. And definitely listen to my parents!🙂
Seen these guys a few weeks ago at the utilita arena Newcastle they were magnificent just as good as they ever were if you get the chance get tickets and go to see them they are the best band I have ever had the chance to see pure class
my mum was a fan of deacon blue in late 80s and 90s, she went to see them live when they came to milan in 1990, and bought all their records. now she gave them to me, and i found love and motivation in these songs. much love to deacon blue from italy 🤍
I was a teenager when the Beatles were carving up the world. In the 90s I can remember telling everyone to listen to Deacon Blue - the whole package, great songs, unique line-up, superb arrangements, energy, fun and great musicians. Still electrifying in 2022.
The Energy is Video is so Beautiful and seeing old London too in a great Arty video Ricky on that car Bonnet wow 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Working in London in 1987, myself and a colleague we’re on our way to the pub when we heard some music coming from some waste ground. Stopped and watched a video being made for a good 20 minutes before heading off agreeing it was a cracking song. A couple of months later back home in Glasgow and out with some mates when the video comes on the tv….Deacon Blue, Loaded. Been a fan ever since and seen them many times live now, but that first time was a treasure!
My god that key change still sends shivers down my spine .. saw this on the Chart Show in 1987 and bought the album the next day - soundtrack of my youth
Just awesome. They sounded so good together on this, and I love Lorraine's vocals. I think this is probably my favourite song from Raintown and I *can't* believe it was released 35 years ago. 🙈🙉🤪 It doesn't sound dated at all. I must have listened to this, I don't know how many times and still not bored of it.
Raintown, an album that sounds as good now as it did in 1987, absolute class, still in my top three of all time, loaded and Telephone plus loves great fear, honestly music doesn't get better than that trio.
Notice the happy faces and the fun?.. You see this in many 80's videos. Pure joy. Nowadays , music videos are overly cool or sexualised and who the hell is smiling in 2020?. Bring back real music and less pretentious artists.
I couldn't agree more! I grew up.in the 80s and it was the best time ever! Wish I could go back and do it all again. It was definitely a happier time.🙂💖
So lucky to have this band in my youth. Feel blessed to have heard such timeless classics. Listen to them still. Fantastic tracks. Pump up that volume!!!
It reminds me of those good old days when I , with my friends, walked to the British Council of Addis Abeba while listening to Deacon Blue over Walkman. One of the ways I learnt English as a foreign language was through British and American songs. It is sad that we don’t have the culture, personas and heart, among others, to make stunning songs like this anymore. Gone are the days.
Cannot believe I missed this band all those years ago .Had to ask a guy who plays it in star bar Glasgow. Deacon blue you have a new fan just discovering all your songs and albums . Beautiful cheers
Ricky Ross recently spoke of Gary Barlow in approving terms. The same Barlow who appeared with Cameron when he was on the general election campaign trail in 2010 and who apologised a few years later for his previous involvement in a tax scheme for the rich. What has changed in the intervening years between the excoriation of the rich in Loaded and 2021, apart from the egregious gap between rich and poor which has widened to unprecedented levels? Dignity is about the working man and woman- the behaviour of the rich undermines that dignity for every underpaid, insecure hour of work.

Oh my God...! I've been looking for this song for over 10 years... I've tried searching the lyrics but never got me anywhere...I just never forgot the chorus
Dignity is my karaoke song but this is my favourite ever Deacon Blue song , absolutely brilliant, and still listen too it 30 odd yrs since it was released.
Ok first heard this at Wembley Arena in the late 80's with thousands of jocko's jumping around like mad men. Made me want to wear a kilt and join them. The hair on the back of my neck stood up then and still does now. Such an up lifting song. Superb.
Lorraine is a spitting image of my Leslie still love deacon blue meet the full band in the rock garden pub 30yr ago also bumded into Ricky ross at the celtic and dundee utd in the main stand in paradise was at the concert in Glasgow Green about 30yr ago now peace ✌ and I wish the late 80s was NOW GREAT DECADE 👍
Ricky & Lorraine, forever love. Magical chemistry. ❤
Great band... Wish it was 1987 again. I'd have told my 16 year old self to not be so insecure and have confidence in yourself....
Here here!

Brilliant song. For some reason it was playing in my head . Amazing
Wasn’t it brilliant to have no money, no mobile phone and no worries

Brilliant debut album, seen these & Erasure live more than any other band in the 80s..even tho they didn't hit the heights until the mid- late 80s .
My favourite band.

Lo dijistes todo exactamente😅😅
The Energy is Video is so Beautiful and seeing old London too in a great Arty video Ricky on that car Bonnet wow 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴

Best band to come out of Scotland..period . Lorraines voice is so adorable.
I'd put them equal with big country
Raintown.. And.. Steeltown... Two great albums, two great groups... Mmm, i will add Waterboys too
@@paulfletcher8778 I agree two of the best.
They’re great but , simple minds , big country , del amitiri, Aztec camera , all deserve equal recognition .
Don't forget Wet Wet Wet, Hue and Cry and The Proclaimers. Scotland is stuffed with amazing bands.

Rick Ross and Lorraine McIntosh - just brilliant
Raintown, an album that sounds as good now as it did in 1987, absolute class, still in my top three of all time, loaded and Telephone plus loves great fear, honestly music doesn't get better than that trio.
Agree totally
I bought this album in the day and always had it on now I'm back years later listening still as good.
These were a brilliant, but very underrated band. Both singers have absolutey brilliant voices. Love it!
Aren't they married too?
@@michaelairley2015 I believe so.
Yes think this video they were just not long dating .
Yes married. Great band. How lucky i was in my youth to listen to such great tracks.
The best band in the world. Saw them 1st in 1990. Still sound amazing today.
Maravilla Suprema...Vaya temazo ....uffff
Class song. My uncle johny Walsh loves this s song. So when he dies he wants this blasting in the church.. bro
Simply still outstanding in 2023!
I don't care what anyone says but for me Deacon Blue had a completely original sound. Their songs were just so unique and timeless.
I dont think they knew how good they were
Brillliant
A common scottish trait!
only 700,000 views this song should be 10 millions.
Ricky and Lorraine were incredibly lucky to find each other 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️

But it's hard when you're sitting here
Surrounded by friends
I've got a love
That I'll cling on to
And I'll stay there

An answer
I don't think you don't care
Just you laugh
'Cause you're loaded
And things are different from there

Just you laugh
'Cause you're loaded
And things are different from there

And you sing and you shout
And you justify
About anything
And you rant and you rave and you hope and you say
Nothing
And you eat and you drink and you dress and you live as if
No one else did baby
No one else like you
Lives out in this world
I've got a love
That I'll cling on to
And I'll stay there
Stay there till the end
'Cause one thing I know is
I
Have found
An answer
I don't think you don't care
Just you laugh
'Cause you're loaded
I
Have found
