    Looks great!
When you are testing paint samples a good tip is to paint a piece of lining paper with the colour rather than directly onto the wall. You can move the paper round the room to see the colour in different lights, and there's no faff when you come to actually decorate and try to paint over the samples.

What a great transformation! I think I would buy a credenza for the desk wall which would house a motorized television inside. With a touch of a button it would rise up for watching. Out of sight when not needed.

Beautiful room, and good to see the bookcase hack turn out so well as I've been pondering a similar project. There's no reason you couldn't keep a desk in that other corner, AND have a wall mounted TV above - the kind that looks like a framed picture. Casters on the desk legs would allow it to be wheeled over by the couch so one person can lounge on the chaise and watch something while the other sits and works at something. Or wheel it out of the room entirely at Christmas time so you can put a skinny tree there.

I can listen to you guys talk all day, I love the accents lol. It’s like ASMR kind of. Plus I am obsessed with watching upcycling and redecorating and crafting and anything home remodel lol thankful to have stumbled across your channel. I absolutely love the color you picked for your walls.

Thank you for the time you put into your videos. Making the bed up was a lovely gift. Room looks great. Not sure where you currently watch TV but it looks like the perfect, private TV room, snuggle room. Laying there snuggled up looking at a Christmas tree sounds perfect! You can't go wrong anyway you go.

When we had a projector and screen, we had the screen attached to the ceiling and only pulled it down when using it. It was also hooked to the TV, so we could watch TV shows on the TV or on the projector screen. I loved it! Love your bookshelf make over! 😀

Lovely outcome Laura, the sofa bed is beautiful and what an amazing job with the bookshelves! What surprised me was the candle soot, it’s amazing just how much it stains the walls. Had me looking at my own candles and making a arrrgh sound 😃

Suggestion, please consider you & Ollie spend a night on the new sofa bed before offering it to guests….the mattress looks a bit puny for comfort…

Ooo I love when you ask Laura…I was thinking 🤔 no to projector …and if you feel you want a screen / tv move the console along away from the corner ( so it looks part of the room) and change the chair ( I know you just bought it🥴) for something that would be comfortable and use for extra seating ( also useful for guests when it’s a bedroom) but put it in the corner on the diagonal and only move it if/ when you might need a desk although since we got our new laptop we haven’t used a desk or table…it’s a lap top for a reason🤣😂🤣😂OH AND THE. SHELVES AND SOFA ARE GORGEOUS ❤️🙋🏻‍♀️🇬🇧💕jane

I love shelving and I don’t think the decor is too small. If you put too much or too large items, the shelving will look busy. I think a TV is or practical especially if it will double as a guest room. Will guest be able to easily operate a projector?

  • @eadavidson856
    @eadavidson856 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The room is beautiful. I would run a custom console, heading toward the interior door, along the wall underneath and just beyond the window. It could be squared off or slanted toward the wall at the end. It could have drawers with knee alcove for a desk chair or it could just be a console style table (the same style as is there now). BUT, either style could house the TV in a built in box a flip up lid that would be flush with the top of the unit when closed (kind of like a lady's vanity) with a TV attached. The TV would not be directly above the knee alcove as this would enable the TV to be on while working at the desk area. When the TV is off, the lid could be closed. You're welcome !!
P.S. There a couple of books (2 or 3, not sure) on the 3rd shelf down on the far left-hand side of the book shelf. The book leaning against the wall has what appeared to be a beautiful book jacket front and, in my opinion, should be shown off, not covered up. Just saying ....... Have I told you the room is beautiful ?

Is it weird that I find both yours and ollie’s voices so relaxing?! lol. I quite often watch your videos twice. Once to actually once and see everything, and then I play then again when I’m washing dishes/tidying up etc because I like to listen to you both. Ok now I sound creepy ha. Love your videos Laura! Do you guys use the side-entrance in the little hallway between that room and the kitchen when coming in from the garden? At first I thought of wet garden boots on that gorgeous rug, but then remembered that side door lol. Looks awesome!! I LOVE a projector as it's easy and doesn't get in the way.. would be nice for guests, too. (I'm a huge proponent of making my guest room feel like an airbnb) ♥

I'm going to go left of field here and suggest a long console along the wall under the window. The corner could be open for a chair to push under, but then under the window, a POP UP flat screen which comes up out of the console, for whenever you want to transform the room into a theatre! xx

I use a laptop or tablet for ‘popping some noise on.’ A projector is great to stop a tv from invading the space, unless you spend a small fortune on something with an aesthetic. I use a Nebula and project straight onto a white painted wall 😌

Personally I would use it for the Christmas Tree since it's going from your courtyard. Great way to bring the festive into the room. But I would long term use the room with the large tv because I would much more prefer to sit on the sofa and work then to be stuck up against a wall. I think that would be the better option. I love your sofa and am now look for something this amazing for my actual owners suite because it comes in amazing colors and is a sofa bed (which is great for Saturday mornings or movie nights with the kids). I swear I can't wait until our home is finished being built. And I didn't think IKEA billy bookcases could look so amazing.

So glad you altered the radiator as I was worried that teeny one wouldn’t be strong enough to heat the space - and putting heat inside boxes made mostly of glue (ie inexpensive chip/fibreboard furniture) eventually degrades the glue and they break apart.
Similarly, your sofa, park it a good six inches away from the radiator or the glue on the joints will degrade and it will collapse

Definitely a projector not a tv, and instead of a console put a long wooden thick bench that looks almost like a beam on legs that way u can also utilize it for more sitting space if needed, let the bench start from where the window starts and in the corner before it put a tree like an olive tree, and instead of the small artwork next to the window hang two artworks/pictures that are the same size as the window and ofcourse all leveled the same, so it basically looks like your have three frames on that wall. hope i helped with some ideas.❤️

A combo desk/long console. Desk where it is now (left), and on the right, a cabinet with a electric TV lift. When you don’t want to see that big black plastic TV, it can be lowered down into the cabinet. Don’t know what the measurements are, but you might have room for a small shelf between the desk and TV cabinet?

Beautiful job on the bookcases! I would put a longer console on that wall that went to the end of the window at least and mount a 'Samsung Frame' TV on the wall above to feature more art in the room but add the feature of a tv for yourself and guests. a smaller chair to use the console as a desk would also be nice. Lovely room!

It looks beautiful!! Really enjoy seeing your house being transformed x I’d keep it as a snug…mount a TV where the picture is, make sure you can pivot it so you can see if from all angles. I would then use the corner to put a beautiful electric corner cast iron stove, they make them now with a very realistic flame 🔥 x that would really make it cosy for watching films or reading and I’m sure your guests would love it too!! xx

Lovely work. My suggestion: An office swivel chair is unnecessary in a sitting room. It’s just occasional use not admin central so get an antique wooden chair for interest and charm! Also if your floor is laminate swivel wheels can scratch it up over time.

We have a projector and agree with the other comments. It has to be quite dark to get a crystal clear image. However once you have a projector you’ll never go back to a normal tv.
Loving the transformation in this space. Very calming and I keeping with your interior style. Love the sofa colour choice and the bookshelves are a great hack.
If you don’t want a projector, then look at the Samsung frame tv. It’s a great alternative.
Those frames are also a lovely lime washed affect and a great bargain for £8!! If you ever stumble across the link are you able to share it please? We’ve gone for a limewash style in our home and always on the hunt for new frames xx

We have a projector. It needs to be dark to get a really good image, so if its summer or early evening we have to put blankets over our beige curtains to get rid of the light.
I think have a character desk / console where you can set your computer laptop up for a film as needed, or just have some ornaments or lamps on it!

That's really useful to know, the room gets a lot of light and we are lazy when we want to watch something 😁 Thank you!

      Get blackout curtain liners?

I know this is a little late but the billy bookcases are much easier to paint in their component parts, before assembly, then you can just touch up any areas after caulking. 😂 I think you’re right about having larger objects on the shelving, looks more curated. I would keep a desk/ console table in there, something wood, possibly vintage or ‘Ollie/Laura made’ and definitely no projector or screen, maybe a smaller tv on the left of the console table

The bookcase came out really nice.
