    Actually I'm sitting watching this in my garden room which is quite similar to yours. I have a large plant in the corner beside the door as a link to the garden. I don't have a t.v. as this is my quiet space where I do a lot of reading and enjoy looking at my garden. Your room has turned out beautifully well done. xx

      I would place a big green plant i the corner as well. No desk, nor a tv or projector.
      The room came out so well and love the Ikea hack. However, more books would be suitable for decor :)

    We have a projector. It needs to be dark to get a really good image, so if its summer or early evening we have to put blankets over our beige curtains to get rid of the light.
    I think have a character desk / console where you can set your computer laptop up for a film as needed, or just have some ornaments or lamps on it!

      That's really useful to know, the room gets a lot of light and we are lazy when we want to watch something 😁 Thank you!

    Love the idea of the multifunction long desk!! It’ll give that room such a luxe hotel vibe. And when you have guests it’ll be a great place for them to put their belongings/makeup bags/electronic etc

    I can listen to you guys talk all day, I love the accents lol. It’s like ASMR kind of. Plus I am obsessed with watching upcycling and redecorating and crafting and anything home remodel lol thankful to have stumbled across your channel. I absolutely love the color you picked for your walls.

    What a great transformation! I think I would buy a credenza for the desk wall which would house a motorized television inside. With a touch of a button it would rise up for watching. Out of sight when not needed.

    The book case is a triumph!! And I love the 'Goose feather' colour too. I would make it a tech free zone......and put a Swiss cheese or lemon tree in that corner. But it is beautiful, as usual, you have both done a lovely job. xx🥰,

    It looks beautiful!! Really enjoy seeing your house being transformed x I’d keep it as a snug…mount a TV where the picture is, make sure you can pivot it so you can see if from all angles. I would then use the corner to put a beautiful electric corner cast iron stove, they make them now with a very realistic flame 🔥 x that would really make it cosy for watching films or reading and I’m sure your guests would love it too!! xx

    Thank you for the time you put into your videos. Making the bed up was a lovely gift. Room looks great. Not sure where you currently watch TV but it looks like the perfect, private TV room, snuggle room. Laying there snuggled up looking at a Christmas tree sounds perfect! You can't go wrong anyway you go.

    Looks great!
    When you are testing paint samples a good tip is to paint a piece of lining paper with the colour rather than directly onto the wall. You can move the paper round the room to see the colour in different lights, and there's no faff when you come to actually decorate and try to paint over the samples.

    Beautiful job on the bookcases! I would put a longer console on that wall that went to the end of the window at least and mount a 'Samsung Frame' TV on the wall above to feature more art in the room but add the feature of a tv for yourself and guests. a smaller chair to use the console as a desk would also be nice. Lovely room!

  • @oldbutfunkyable

  • @Stephanie-lg1cm

    I know this is a little late but the billy bookcases are much easier to paint in their component parts, before assembly, then you can just touch up any areas after caulking. 😂 I think you’re right about having larger objects on the shelving, looks more curated. I would keep a desk/ console table in there, something wood, possibly vintage or ‘Ollie/Laura made’ and definitely no projector or screen, maybe a smaller tv on the left of the console table

    34:24 You can put a projector behind you, behind sofa, and use wall with the window as a screen. Just put a screen as a curtain and add real curtains on top of the screen. You can add a big desk under this as you want

  • @TheTattooedCrafter

    We have a projector and agree with the other comments. It has to be quite dark to get a crystal clear image. However once you have a projector you’ll never go back to a normal tv.
    Loving the transformation in this space. Very calming and I keeping with your interior style. Love the sofa colour choice and the bookshelves are a great hack.
    If you don’t want a projector, then look at the Samsung frame tv. It’s a great alternative.
    Those frames are also a lovely lime washed affect and a great bargain for £8!! If you ever stumble across the link are you able to share it please? We’ve gone for a limewash style in our home and always on the hunt for new frames xx

    Lovely work. My suggestion: An office swivel chair is unnecessary in a sitting room. It’s just occasional use not admin central so get an antique wooden chair for interest and charm! Also if your floor is laminate swivel wheels can scratch it up over time.

    I love shelving and I don’t think the decor is too small. If you put too much or too large items, the shelving will look busy. I think a TV is or practical especially if it will double as a guest room. Will guest be able to easily operate a projector?

    Gorgeous !!!! We have a very similar set up in our house, our front living room also has the benefit of big bay window and it’s south facing so lovely and bright, we have a tv in that room and our back snug goes onto our garden, we have a projector in there which is amazing for cozy snuggled nights on the sofa- and tucks away nicely so during the day if we have friends round for coffee it’s not dominated by the tv and the focus is on the garden - works fabulously for us !

    Beautiful room, and good to see the bookcase hack turn out so well as I've been pondering a similar project. There's no reason you couldn't keep a desk in that other corner, AND have a wall mounted TV above - the kind that looks like a framed picture. Casters on the desk legs would allow it to be wheeled over by the couch so one person can lounge on the chaise and watch something while the other sits and works at something. Or wheel it out of the room entirely at Christmas time so you can put a skinny tree there.

    Lovely outcome Laura, the sofa bed is beautiful and what an amazing job with the bookshelves! What surprised me was the candle soot, it’s amazing just how much it stains the walls. Had me looking at my own candles and making a arrrgh sound 😃

  • @baylynn5

    Yes to the projector! I think you’d really enjoy it. And not that you need another project…but you could also do a cabinet with one of those auto-lift things to hide the tv but raise it up when you want to use it. I know that’s ambitious, but I’m sure you two could pull it off!

    It looks really lovely (as always). Really love the sofa. My vote personally is no tv and no projector. I'd keep it as a 'quiet' room. Christmas tree this year and then a large plant or something decorative would look nice. I dont think it has to be 'practical', it can just be something to make it cosier.

    Although I’m originally from England I forget about the little details like radiators taking up wall space. Here in western Canada we have forced air heating systems that only require I small grate in the floor. They’re lovely and take up almost no space. The kitchen, bathrooms and basement all have radiant floor heating which is wonderful. Love what you did with the bookcase. I might do that with my existing Billy bookcase. It’s a great idea. The sofa is beautiful. The whole room looks comfortable. Well done. Oh, I’d do the TV.

  • @LalaHass
    @LalaHass 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Oh this is just lovely! It turned out so well! I don't think it's having a desk there that doesn't feel right, it's the desk itself that isn't right for the area. I think a wooden (vintage) desk centered under the window would warm up the area and tie in with the wood details you've got going in the shelves. Also I think having a vintage furniture piece, especially wood, just gives so much soul and depth to a space...and with that green, it would just be the 😘👌🏼 Also if covid taught us anything it'ss that it never hurts to have an extra space for work 🙈 really loved the outcome 👏🏽🤎

    I know they’re a bit pricey, but I feel like a frame TV would be perfect for the room while providing enough flexibility so that you can still use this room in a number of ways. It’s a lot more seamless than a regular TV and less fussy than pulling out a projector every time you want to watch Netflix. Just remember to put in a really high quality door stopper to prevent the door from coming into contact with the TV. Love all your home content so much!

    • @laurarobinson0618
      @laurarobinson0618 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just going to say the same thing. I’ve also seen a few people make a dupe for the Samsung framed tv by just using a really nice frame on a mounted tv!

  • @vrd555
    @vrd555 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes projector!!! We did that too as we've got some nice antiques ..a TV would spoil the room!!! We've got the Epson but we actually use the Anker mars nebula more often!!! .. they're super easy to use then they're gone when not needed 😊😊..( we use a Chromecast so we stream off the phones.. we watch you every week 3 metres x 2.5 metres!!) 😌😌

    We have two of the Samsung frames, one in the living room and one in the bedroom and we love them so much. They are so simple and elegant looking when in portrait mode. Very much worth the extra money in our eyes. I think a smaller one where the photo frame currently is would look perfect! X

  • @mariearce8021
    @mariearce8021 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very pretty. A few more books would be nice, I think for when you're in there or for guests. A small tv in the corner on the wall that can pull out and swivel so it can viewed from the sofa but not take much space. I like the idea of a desk under the window that can be used for multiple purposes and a place for guests to put their things since there's no closet or other storage. I think the idea of having closed storage at the bottom of the shelves would solve some storage issues too and look pretty.

  • @lumineszenz8242
    @lumineszenz8242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @frenchstyle7038

    A projector is so tempting so if you have guests you can have a fun movie night. But then a TV would be better day to day. I would get a low long tv stand with some cupboards in and have that run right unter the window, you can have the tv on one side and a nice big lamp on the other. Maybe get a projecter later down the line so you can still have those movie nights. I would also wait until after Christmas so right now you have the space for a tree next to that green sofaaa (so Christmasy) and you'll feel more of what you're missing in that room rather than rushing

    Hey you two! Sorry so late, just stumbled on it. . . Great detailed video! Doing a similar project and wondering about the LED lights. I think you used the Govee brand? I loveeee the cool white option on them and wondering if you were using just the RGB strips or the RGBW (with the white chip)? And if possible would you have any links to what you used? I just can't seem to find the perfect strips? Thx! Cheers! Mark

    So lovely how it turned out- a Christmas tree would be great in that corner and it might be fun to film you two decorating it and adding holiday decor throughout your home. Reading some of the comments I agree with centering the desk under the window, adding a nice wooden chair, saving the corner for a large plant/ Christmas tree and if you add a Tv where your painting is to try a DYI picture frame. Love how the bookcases look- very much a classy upgrade.

    I like the idea of the desk more under the window as the wall to the right of the desk is very blank besides the one (very gorgeous) picture, and a tv between the window and the corner to the left of the window.
