I come from a family name very similar to your situation. 7 generations now. I pray it continues because I love the name and the history with it. So proud of it. Partner didn’t love it but once a famous person they looked up to named their kid the very same name, it was even better. The love grew deeper.
My grandmother was *so mad* that the family called my aunt by her middle name and that my generation didn’t get “the” name at all. Apparently one girl, maybe two, got the name per generation. She claimed that she and one (cousin?) lorded it over the other girls that “I got to be ‘the’ name.” 😂 When I was pregnant that side of the family started asking me if I would use it. I was saved by having only boys 😅 but I could see myself suggesting it if I ever get a granddaughter. I won’t push for it, merely mention it.
I think that’s kinda cool actually. As long as the kid gets a nickname or some way to make an identity of their own and aren’t constantly compared to the previous name holders that’s a cool family history story to tell your friends
