    First of all, really want to show appreciation to the previous little workshop you had with CEOs in a previous video. That really showed me practical steps of how learning should be. I would really love a video where you go in-depth about micro decision-making when you're forming and confirming connections and coordinates on mind maps. Maybe a nitty gritty detailed video on how to follow along making relationships, based on what and how. That would be really helpful. Thanks a lot Justin

      Thanks for your message. I appreciate it. I'll take that on board and think about how I can try to do that. The problem is that TH-cam is not great for those kinds of videos as the algorithm punishes longer videos that aren't broad appeal (to an extent). I'm thinking about the best way to do this. This is also one of the reasons I have a paid course in the first place because I don't have to worry about an algorithm.

      That’s because flashcards were never meant to be a resource to learn something. This seems to be a common misconception spread here. Anki was never designed to learn complex information. Rather it’s meant to review what you have already learned and understood. That’s my main complaint with Justin’s take on Anki. He makes it sound like Anki is the learning platform. You can do what he says using mind maps and whatnot for deep processing AND still use Anki to review that information for the long run

    how do you know if you have deep processing abilities tho, sometimes i feel like i do find connections naturally during flashcard review, but at the same time i doubt if i really do have it
    idk if this info is meaningful, but im a high achieving student, straight a kinda thing
    Can i tell from there? I use mostly anki based studying (mainly bio, some computer science theory, and history)
    My history is literally pluck straight from textbook kinda questions, its literally rote memorization so that's why i use anki for it
    I dont rlly use flashcards for subjects like chem, since somehow the connections come naturally from there, instead i just make tiny notes while reading through syllabus questions for those that im not sure of.

    In my country it was mendetory to do all the homework. If you failed to do so, your grade got worse, waaay worse, since the teacher thought of you as a lazy student.

    • @JustinSung
      @JustinSung  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      In these instances I recommend: 1) Is it marked as complete/not complete, or actually graded on quality? If graded on quality, is it marked strictly? - If it is only complete/not complete, or the grading is not hard to meet, then do the bare minimum and save as much time as possible. 2) If neither of these are possible, and you HAVE to spend lots of time doing homework to a high quality, you MUST develop more efficient priming and encoding skills so that you can work ahead of the class schedule and not have to worry about it during the week. This will require you to be proactive at getting resources and learning objectives so you can self-study. Obviously it requires a greater degree of skill and a full studying system to pull this off. While I cover this in my paid program, it's a little harder to teach all the nuances of creating such a system from A-Z on TH-cam. I'll think of how I can meet these needs in future videos without being algorithm-punished though.

    At first I was making random hands movements on a blank paper with a pen. And during my least year, I was simply mimicking writing, with no pen or paper. I literrally can't stop myself from doing it while I'm being focused and reading on a topic

    There is a new K-Drama called doctor slump. And it's these two leads who were both top national students and also top med-school graduates from top schools. And the female lead is this "I studied 17 hours a day. Now I work 17 hours a day. All for this dream."....I decided to see this as some sorta comedy thing. Like parody/satire or what about the Korean education system rn. Cause it's insane. 17 hours a day???? As a high-schooler???? oh my lord. what a weird thing to be proud of and what a weird price to be a top student. There is also this other reality show called university wars where the top 5 Korean unis best students are playing something similar to squid games but for the mind and later on Harvard joins in. And the comparison is so funny. Harvard students are all like "We study a bit, but we mainly enjoy our (rich) lives and hobbies" and Korean students are like "I busted my ass all my life, rote memorisation this that" haha...

The lack of context, not understanding whole picture, etc can easily be combatted through Anki’s built in features, immense amount of additional capabilities through add-ons, and just general principles of proper flashcard creation that anyone can learn. i love how the brain and eye see a long word and instantly know what it mean, without having to hear it for 1 2 second,
      then i wonder how far i can "see a sentence" in 1 second lol (but small detail of "the they them if is this as some could" precision is important not miss 1 letter change everything)

    Is it okay if you don’t take notes ?

    • @ReStellarr
      @ReStellarr ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think so, taking notes is crucial when studying. You still can learn just listening and reading but the information tends to be forgotten so you generate many gaps in your knowledge. If you are having trouble taking notes while listening to the lecture, have some pre-information of the class (studying the topic of the lecture before hand) so that way you can take less notes. Also as Justin says, there are better note taking methods, but not just "better", you can upgrade your note taking system if you know what to prioritize and use something similar to "learns the brains way", aka Mindmaps because they engage more in higher-order learning.

      @@ReStellarr so what if I use review books after learning a topic instead of making notes or it is going to be linear learning instead of active

    • @ReStellarr
      @ReStellarr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dazaiosamu6071 mmh, I think if you just review books after learning a topic might be linear if you don't engage more in higher-order learning. My point of view in just reviewing is that you are only doing active literature and it might not be enough to engage in deep processing (Thinking from various perspectives). In theory, every method is linear, ones more than others so doing multiple or recreating one to be as non-linear as possible might be the best way to do so. Remember that I am just stating my own personal opinion, I am not a professional in this area so I recommend watching Justin videos to widen your view on learning. Test for yourself if reviewing a topic after learning is a good method for you, identify the gaps in your knowledge and adapt to your own method :D
