Well, only time will tell if he lives up to the hype and if he does he'll definitely need to continue working on his game to improve because as his competition's skills are greater he'll need to increase his!
he has a decent chance of being a great NBA star (depends on his work ethic and his choices); he has a better chance at being a really good NBA player. He doesn't seem to have the usual health issues that tall and still growing young men have.
@@mneugent7658 Yeah but I agree it's up to Cooper on how much he wants to be great and how much time hard work he spends at getting better. I know one thing the NBA players were impressed and still are. He is the best High School Basketball player I have seen in years IMHO
I love how all the NBA superstars are talking about how good he already is for a 17 year old and how good he’s going to be, then a bunch of guys who could barely play high school ball think they can critique his gameplay and comment on what he needs to improve on. Fucking hilarious
Flagg has more pro-ready body than Bates. He also plays the other phases of the game outside of scoring: passing, on court awareness & leadership, one-on-one defense, team defense, and understands floor balance. He can refine his game, hit the weight room, and tweak a few weakness. Doing this, he will elevate his game as the competition increases.
I played at the High School that graduated Travis Knight just the year before I got there. Made the NBA, but wasn´t good. Same with Jelani McCoy, who I had to guard in a prep game. I believe it´s the ridiculous amounts of money that takes away a lot of players´ tenacity.
Really good and fair breakdown on the situation, IMO. It'll certainly be interesting to see how he performs at Duke. Obviously, what he's shown at only 17 is pretty special. It takes not just skill, but luck and also a killer spirit to actually cash in on the hype.
Ummm, no. Duncan had just started playing basketball at 17, I think he had been playing for two years at that point. And yes, Duncan is this Spurs fan's all time favorite.

I'm in. As for how he'll do, the unspoken and overlooked thing is that his parents are still together. His brothers are apparently decent kids. Mindset, work ethic, humility, and so much else are affected by the people around him. Maybe his talent doesn't translate, maybe he can't make it. But, I think, he won't be one of these kids that wastes his opportunity. I don't think he's going to waste his money and time in the bars, strip clubs, and police trouble like so many young stars. That's one of the things I love about Wemby. All these ex-NBA guys that think Wemby is going to want to go to a big market team fundamentally don't understand him and his mindset. Wemby wants to win. So he won't be intimidated, won't cower or back down. He's got all the skills, and seemingly doesn't take it for granted like Zion. If he applies himself, he'll be a perennial all star...
I agree that high school basketball is very cool. It’s full of incredibly talented short players. Many of them barely play in college, but are super stars in high school.
Those defensive flaws u speak of are only because they are usually kicking the other teams ass so they don’t really care they score a tough or easy layup as long as the energy on defense is there
Lol, no they weren't. Maybe they said that to keep up appearances, but the one they were afraid of in that draft was Shaq. It's up to Cooper on how good he wants to be. If he has the want to attitude and puts the work in he will be as good as he wants to be. As far as his shot goes it doesn't matter how he shoots it as long as it goes in. Look up Jamal Wilkes and Bird had some quirks in his shot and both are in HOF.
