Well, only time will tell if he lives up to the hype and if he does he'll definitely need to continue working on his game to improve because as his competition's skills are greater he'll need to increase his!

he has a decent chance of being a great NBA star (depends on his work ethic and his choices); he has a better chance at being a really good NBA player. He doesn't seem to have the usual health issues that tall and still growing young men have.

I love how all the NBA superstars are talking about how good he already is for a 17 year old and how good he’s going to be, then a bunch of guys who could barely play high school ball think they can critique his gameplay and comment on what he needs to improve on. Fucking hilarious

Flagg has more pro-ready body than Bates. He also plays the other phases of the game outside of scoring: passing, on court awareness & leadership, one-on-one defense, team defense, and understands floor balance. He can refine his game, hit the weight room, and tweak a few weakness. Doing this, he will elevate his game as the competition increases.

College will always help a kid. I've seen two guys at his size pass like that...Magic and Bird.
Having said that, I hope that Atlanta pick hits for the Spurs. Wemby and Flagg protecting the paint? I'm in.
As for how he'll do, the unspoken and overlooked thing is that his parents are still together. His brothers are apparently decent kids. Mindset, work ethic, humility, and so much else are affected by the people around him. Maybe his talent doesn't translate, maybe he can't make it. But, I think, he won't be one of these kids that wastes his opportunity. I don't think he's going to waste his money and time in the bars, strip clubs, and police trouble like so many young stars. That's one of the things I love about Wemby. All these ex-NBA guys that think Wemby is going to want to go to a big market team fundamentally don't understand him and his mindset. Wemby wants to win. I think Flagg is going to be the same.

Ummm.. LeBron? He's an elite level passer and always has been. Another reason Cooper should succeed is how much he's seen. He played in Spain as a teenager and saw how nuts the fans can get, at one point one of them tried to get physical with him while he was torching their hometown team. So he won't be intimidated, won't cower or back down. He's got all the skills, and seemingly doesn't take it for granted like Zion. If he applies himself, he'll be a perennial all star...

It's up to Cooper on how good he wants to be. If he has the want to attitude and puts the work in he will be as good as he wants to be. As far as his shot goes it doesn't matter how he shoots it as long as it goes in. Look up Jamal Wilkes and Bird had some quirks in his shot and both are in HOF. Don't forget about Barbosa, Shawn Marion, Kevin Martin and Paja Stojacovic's just to name a few and all of them were All Stars. I think he will be great but it's up to him. The NBA's history is full of great talents that somehow did not consolidate into what everyone expected. Every major sport is.
Cooper looks like he will be a monster, on the women's side everyone is talking about Paige and JuJu.
For all 3 of them, it is extremely premature to label them as "generational".
Talent without commitment is not important
Talent without sacrifice is not important.
Talent without work ethics is meaningless.
Bird, Magic, MJ, Kobe and LeBron had the super Talent and work ethics + sacrifice + commitment.
Too much pressure on these 3 everyone is talking about can ruin them.

Imani Bates is an Exceptional Talent minus his thin Frame and off court business. Handles Height and Range .. Bro Never Looses the Rock .. EVER ! Yall gonna set a bar situation that Flagg can’t reach. He ain’t Bird yet ..

At 0:35 his Confidence after that block is Next Level. Oh and some people said Larry Bird had bad mechanics with his shot, I think you're just nitpicking, and comparing Coop to Emoni Bates is Criminal, all I have to do is watch Emoni and see a boy, then watch Cooper and see a NBA Man, only Lebron looked more NBA ready. Cooper is gonna eat Wemby alive

He's the best Baketball prospect since Lebron, I have No doubt in my mind, he's better than Zion, he has I would say a 99% to be an NBA Superstar. He's easily the best defensive prospect since KG, and he has a lot of KG is his game, but his range and handles are better. I'm an Arizona fan and I'm scared for my Wildcats when we play this Monster!

Go to the success rate slide at 2:05. The first part goes well over 200% and the second part identifies over 160%.
Somebody definitely didn't realize that everything had to equal 100%.

I dont think the, "his mom was his coach and hid his flaws" bit is weak. Hes played the past two years at Montverde. Ain't nobody hiding at Montverde. They play the hardest schedule in the country, against the best teams and players. Boyle has coached a ton of NBA superstars, and won't structure that team around hiding one players faults.

    • @Geneknowshoops
      @Geneknowshoops  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Fair point. I think Monteverde was a very strong move by him. It was great because we have never seen him play anything other than 16U in AAU.
