@@bfosterkayaking l should have mentioned, l was there in 2021 just up from Ashland to mess around in the playboat at the Bend whitewater park and the upper McKenzie class 2/3. First time for both and both great fun.
@@bfosterkayaking whoops, l didn't answer your question; 11am-1pm .At first the wave was kind of surging but for the last hour the flow came up and the wave smoothed out and looked much like the wave in your video.
@@nicksinderson3302 I ask because the wave shapers change this feature at noon on Saturdays and Sundays to make it less retentive (the pile gets thinner, the trough higher, and the corners more open). Before noon they say it is in "hole" mode and after noon it is in "wave" mode. This video was taken with the feature in hole mode. I generally prefer it in hole mode, but the more relaxing front surfing experience of wave mode is also enjoyable.
I'm told it is, but I haven't seen anyone complete one, and if there is a sweet spot it must be pretty small. Then again, I haven't seen many kayakers there at all, let alone kayakers who can throw loops. There just doesn't seem to be much interest in playboating in these parts, which is unfortunate because Jason's is a lot of fun and provides a great workout.
@@darrend7675 yes, plenty deep to throw loops. there are a handful of people doing them. initiate high using a little edge to keep the elevation of the pile on your side. if you want to bump into paddlers at the park go at dusk, or during times kids are likely to be in school, on days the feature is set up as a hole.
Also, at times it’s quite crowded with boats. Wednesdays when OSU is in session and MC is running, there isn’t much room in the eddy. Many Thursday and Friday evenings when flows are good you’ll see quite a few playboaters.
Very fun and user friendly wave. I've only been there once on a Sunday in August. My buddy and l were on it for a couple of hours...just the 2 of us.
I agree 100%. Were you there before or after noon that Sunday?

@@bfosterkayaking well, l got that backwards. Nonetheless, l preferred the higher wave flow...less flips, more spins and weak corner blunt attempts.
is it deep enough for loops at this level?

thanks for the reply. Sounds like I need to make it back there to try it out again.
