    Those are endler/hybrids...grow rate on endler is slower...🤷‍♂️ edit; if u want to speed it up a bit, feed em fresh hatched brines, daily....multiple times a day...

    I am no celebrated expert, but I can say from experience, that Guppies will grow in anything, as long as you feed them and the water has minerals. In my foolish youth, I had a 4 gallon ish sized aquarium. maybe less. Little under gravel filter, air powered; horrific blue and white gravel with a lump of coral that had been spray painted yellow. 25w incandescent light was the light and heat. some floating plants were placed in the top, and usually died off within 2 months to be replaced.
    It was a guppy breeding machine. Water changes, maybe every couple of months, a gallon worth. usually just a top up. No idea what the PH, hardness, ect was. The algae grew pretty steady. Some bladder snails arrived on some of the floating plants, and setup a snail factory. The water was pretty hard, there would always be crust at the high water mark, I think. Had some sort of fin rot once or twice in 6 years, it was treated with a 20 year old bottle of methylene blue stuff. That came from my mom, her aquarium had a Silent Giant air pump, that stopped being made in 1970s.
    You could take 10 out and give them away, and it seemed like only a mild thinning. in a month, it was back to normal. waste seemed to just disappear into the fairly chunky gravel. No food was ever left uneaten. I'd estimate about 10-15 adults, and the usual cloud of babies and young.
    If you can give guppies food, light, heat, minerals and a touch of salt. They will go forth and multiply.

    problem is everyone is comparing guppy's to someone who keeps them at

    In my experience, female guppy/endler hybrids can vary in size. Compared to a pure bred guppy only female, they can stay pretty small (or grow pretty big).

    @MJ Aquascaping you have endler/livebearer cross in this tank.
    Endlers are closer to their wild roots, stay smaller than their domestic, selectively bred cousins, and grow in direct response to temperature and correlating food supply.
    I can look for you on IG, and send you some links.
    I'm not seeing the bent backs we typically see in livebearers that don't have access to adequate calcium. It's similar to the bone damage we see in humans who have too many babies too close together.
    You actually have a variety that phenotypically looks very similar to a line that I breed. They grow slow, take 6 to 8 months to reach maturity (temperature dependent), have smaller clutches, and the females are not as big as my thumb, even after 12 months at 65° F (slowest growth rate).

    • @THandP_org
      @THandP_org 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cladocera make an ideal first food, as they don't foul the water like brine shrimp. It's fairly easy to start a colony.
      The cooler temps will allow slower development and a longer lifespan. Glad to hear someone addressing the risks of growing fish in containers that are too small, I just didn't want you to think all of the things you were seeing were issues you had caused.
      The largest female endler I have was the oldest female in a 36 cm × 125 cm × 25 cm deep river biotope paladarium (paladarium is 60 cm tall) with a strong current (builds caudal strength and reduces the risk of spinal curvature in older breeding females).
      She was 1 of 6 females I put in the tank 18 months ago.
      She requested retirement this week, and is now in a standard US 10 gallon tank, and quite happily swims up to greet me every time I walk in the room.
      There were 5 females half her size when I took her out of the big river tank, they are currently establishing who will be the next "big fish" and staking out territory. The males just endlessly dance, trying to convince one of the many females that they are worthy, lol.
      You will notice, warmer waters get you more males, and cooler waters get you more females. The adults like to chase amphipods and play with their dinner. They also eat blackworms, planaria, and hair algae... as well as duckweed if they are underfed.

    I would also add these:
    1. Feeding 3 times a day instead of 1 time a day. Fry has quick metabolism so more feeds are better.
    2. Temperature. The colder the temperature the slower the growth. Not sure what your temperatures are but I'd say 24-25C is perfect. Anything below I'd consider on the colder side.
    3. Size. Your 13 liter tank if fine for the fry. I've grown many fry in a 10 liter tank with no issues. (yes, it's small but they still grow well).
    Hope these help and you fry grows big ;) Good luck!

      Yep, i have grown guppy fry in 10 liter tanks as well. They grew really well. I had like 100 fry in that tank😂. Needless to say, a lot of daily water changes and a lit of plants were there. I moved them to a bigger tank soon after. But size of the tank, in my opinion doesnt matter.

    I have got that advice also that to grow fish bigger then a bigger aquarium is a key factor.
    But it is maybe not enough nuance to say because of RO water..
    Then you blame the wrong thing and viewers got the impression that RO water is this or that..
    You should see RO water as a blank canvas what you can decide what YOU want to do with it!
    I for example use RO water and keep cichlids that want harder water.
    So I add in my RO water (plant) minerals and pH/KH plus.
    So that I get desired target range for GH, KH and pH. That the specific fish needs.
    In other words it is not the RO water that we should blame 🤣🥰 it is you that do not did the remineralization correct.
    Using RO water is not only to wanting to have softer water..
    There is many other reasons actually you can make RO water of your tap water and then put minerals into the RO water and make the exact same GH, KH and pH that you have in the tap water!
    WHY?!
    The difference is NO and removed chlorine, arsenic, boron, silicates(metalloids), lead, copper, parasites and viruses and so on.. and you always get the same results when you mix yourself and not dependent on what water delivery in your area treats the water you get.
    Otherwise it is impossible to just remove copper if they are at a problematic high levels, from the tap.. you remove "everything" and just add back what is needed for what you have in the aquarium.

    i have several batches of endler and guppy fry every month and those i dont want go out in the greenhouse in a large water vat. They get fed 2 or 3 times a day on quality flake and live daphnia and mosquito lava. In these vats the endler fry never reach the same size as the guppy fry.

    Great video! I had the same issue with cpds that I bred. I think I kept them in too small of a tank for too long it stunted their growth. Unfortunately I didn’t get another attempt because my 1 male passed away in that time and all the fry ended up being female! I really wanted another shot at it with a heater in the tank to see if I got a better mix of males and females! Maybe a future project for me

    Nice informative video. Yes tank size is very important as one that is too small can stunt growth. Having said that I have known Koi breeders to get some good size on young fish in smallish ponds by over filtering, however they do have to be given room to grow on asap. I imagine the same principle would apply to guppies. Your forest tank looks amazing, thanks for sharing.

    In my experience, Endlers and Endler-Guppy hybrids tend to give birth to a lot of young, and their growth rates have been varied, even those born at the same time from the same female. Some develop slight deformities, some barely eat any of the food while some grow at a healthy pace or even have growth spurts. 6 months is a decent enough time for healthy males to start showing colours..

      @THandP_org 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the temperatures (for maturation) and how many other males are in the tank.
      Endlers, especially, have a fairly hierarchical "society".
      You will typically see one larger female, then 5 females not quite as large, and there will be a hierarchy among the males, as well.
      I have to take "sleeper" males and put them in an all bachelor tank to get them to develop their colors. The bachelor tanks are US 10 gallons or smaller, and as long as nitrates stay under 100 ppm (we have a turtle pond of 10 gallons where culls go, so lots of variations we get to test) the biggest inhibitor to males developing color appears to be remaining submissive to dominant males when females are around.
      Remove the females, and **every male** colors up.
      I suspect this is behind the marketing strategy of selling 6 males and no females....

  • @NCM6027
    @NCM6027 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    live food such as brine shrimp is more important than the size of the aquarium, other foods rich in protein such as egg preparations and when you see the difference separate the males from the females, because if they are kept together they do not grow much, but if they start to reproduce very young.

    I don't think the water had anything to do with it, sure the guppies prefer harder water, but they're fine in RO water as well. The adult size to time ratio that you saw was probably being fed protein like krill or something 3 to 5 times a day, just to grow them out. They will still reach full size with non-protein food like spirulina but it'll take much longer.

Confia que Dios ayudara con el resto!
    Busca a Dios, antes de que sea muy tarde! Hoy podria ser tu ultimo dia en la tierra!
    Que tengas un hermoso dia!
    ❤️❤️❤️
