I just find it so stupid that these bike makers like Peloton or Echelon don't just make it available on their app to see youtube or other apps. Once Corona pandemic is over they are going loose so much money if they don't align their marketings and services with the market. yu can already see this reflected in Peloton stock price (PTON).
i personally think not only they should make other apps available on their bikes but also reduce the monthly subscription. Who the hell is ready to pay more than 40$ when you can go to Gym for the same price or less and do all kind of workout and see people?

I am not sure why they don't offer these apps. It would be a huge bonus to do a ride watch a movie, or some TH-cam, as well as seeing and recording your metrics from the ride. You have some very valid points about the pricing.

Hi is there a way to access the about me section without choosing a profile? I didn’t sign up for the membership and can’t find the three dots or about screen. Thank you!
All bikes should be able to access the main screen even without membership and have a small selection of classes available to them. You will likely have to create a base profile without a membership.

Full screen may not be available, as it is the browser vs the actual TH-cam app.

This is awesome. So can I get peloton digital and stream it to that screen from my iPhone? Is that possible? I really don’t feel like paying $40 after a hefty bike price.
You can't stream it to that monitor, you could side load it and run it on the monitor, but none of the metrics would be available to you.
Since its a browser, we can go though the same process but using Netflix instead of TH-cam, correct?
You can load whatever you like in the browser. So yes Netflix should work, but it won't record any of your ride analytics.
Great video. I did this and it did get me to TH-cam but after a few minutes the you tube content screen turned green. Any idea how to fix this? 🤷🏽♀️ thank you!
Generally speaking the green-screen is related to poor hardware performance. All you can really do is power down the bike, and reboot. It is likely that it is an older system software in terms of Android that Peloton is using. That being said you not want to change anything on the bike in terms of software outside of the Peloton system updates.

Let me know if you figure out a way to download anything with this, they took out the old browser which means you can not download apks. I really want to watch live tv on youtube TV while being able to go on a jog...

I am not sure what you are asking. The Peloton bike has its own screen, and is not a Zwift bike. Yes you can download a Peloton app for your iOS device.
Did you get any glitches or voided warranty issues? Website/articles I’ve read claim the screen will bug out or flicker.
I have had zero issues when I have done this. As for the warranty you would have to read it to determine if it would cause issues with that.

You do not need to be logged into TH-cam to watch videos using this method. So if you don't want your information left there by logging in you don't have to.
I'm curious as to what else you can do with these exercise bike mounted screens. Will they function without the bike like is it just an android tablet or does it need to be attached?
If you could rewire it so that you could plug directly into an outlet you could use it as an android based touchscreen. Most things can be side loaded onto the platform. However, I do not recommend this.
@@JDirom I'm curious if it's possible to run this screen from a battery like a power bank and then sideload an SDR app and connect an RTL-SDR receiver dongle and you have a portable SDR rig. That is just a radio scanner. Then I thought of using it as a display for games.
@@JDirom Doesn't the wire run from the base to the screen? There must be an AC to DC power supply inside. in that case it's already wired up.
@@coondogtheman yeah my bad, I thought it was one cable for the sensors and power, but it is in fact two.
Would this work also on the new Bike+? Also can you install other apps?
Should work the same with the Bike+, as the software is the same on the system, same way it also works with the Tread. Potentially you can install other apps, but it entails utilizing Peloton's developer mode, a laptop, and a USB cable. So not as simple and straightforward.
I have one of the first bikes that came out maybe 5-7 years ago. Should I assume this doesn't work on mine because it's too old?
Peloton doesn’t support the original monitors anymore, and this method was when they were still supported. So it should work the same way.

It does. The demo was filmed on a second generation bike.

I do not know for certain. I would guess the answer to this is probably, as they are likely to develop both systems using the same software adjusted for the Tread.

Thanks a ton, just a quick question. I started doing a quick ride (just ride). After starting the workout I went out to main menu followed your steps and wacthed some TH-cam. When I finished my workout and came back to my workout screen to end my session I realized it just recorded the time which is okay actually but didnt record my data. Is there a way to get around this so it records all my data?

There is no way to record the data to my knowledge. I am surprised to hear that it kept track of the time or even recorded it as a ride, as you have essentially switched out of the Peloton program when you switch out.

@@emirozmen I have the same, Emir. If I start a "just ride" and then watch TH-cam, when I come back to the ride it has the correct time but records no data for the whole duration. Just one of those things I guess!
Actually just realized the operating system is Android which easily should be able multitask or run it in the background. I m thinking this is a clear choice on Pelotons half, perhaps to encourage attending their classes rather than finding other classes online. Too bad for me, I was just going watch random non fitness related stuff.

You shouldn’t need a subscription, but I have always had one so I can’t say 100%

You should be able to access without a subscription the same way. The bike without a subscription gives you access to the just ride feature and a few select Peloton classes, you would access the backend the same way.

If you are going to add apps, you would have to sideload them.

You have to side load the app if you want to do that. Otherwise you can only watch it browser size.

Yes, last I checked they were running 7.0.
someone told me that this could void the warranty - why??? this was so easy to access and there was no warning. i'm only going to use it for youtube.
I gotta say though, Peloton was smart to gamify the metrics - the idea of my ride not being logged in my account is enough to make just want to use my Ipad to stream youtube.
Take a look at the warranty supplied with your Peloton if you are concerned. I had a full bike swap on warranty due to another issue with the physical components of my bike, they honoured my warranty.

It does. Works for the Tread as well.

Would be the same way. Without a subscription the bike should give you access to a select few classes and the just ride feature. Hope that helps.

That is one of the limitations, unless you go as far as side loading the TH-cam app.

J Dirom Thank you! I’ve been trying to get to watch Netflix without a subscription to Peloton. I had to take a different route to find the browser. I logged into Netflix on the browser but it won’t play any of the videos on there. Is this still doable? If so, how?

It is very possible, it is likely that the software is the same on both pieces of equipment. If you get one you will have to let us know if it works.

There is a main profile on every bike. Access to the backend is the same method.

You can potentially “side-load” what you need. Bit more involved, but information is out there by ow to do this, but I don’t recommend unless you have some computer knowledge.

Same question, here. When I was subbing, I totally ran all my movie apps, kindle, iBooks, you name it. Once I let it expire, no longer accessible. However, I'm working on getting it going now. Will post back here in an update if I get it to run those apps. At the moment, I can see they're all still loaded on the device, so...stay tuned.

You can still do it without a membership. Without a membership you still have a profile;however metrics are not saved, you have access to to three pre-recorded rides and scenic rides.

You can potentially side load the Netflix app to the console if you really want to get a full screen video, does require a little bit of knowledge, but can be done.

You would have to read the entire warranty that comes with your bike. Ultimately you are not modifying anything on the bike, now naturally if you start surfing the dark web on your Peloton you may run into issues.

Hacks are seldom perfect unfortunately. Would be nice for Peloton to add things like YT, Netflix, and Spotify into their ecosystem. Maybe even Zwift!
Can you use it with Disney Plus?
If you can watch Disney Plus in a web browser then it will work. If not you would have to sideload the app.

You can go to Netflix in the same browser that you access TH-cam. It may ask you to download the app, I haven’t added apps to the tablet so you would have to do so at your own risk.

@@kindofmilky9709 odd, it is a means to get into the backend for diagnostics. Never have seen an error message. If done correctly it will just work. Done incorrectly it just won't.

@@ceewood1354 current Peloton software should have this accessible natively through their apps. This applies to older models no longer upgraded or attached to Peloton as video is 7 years old, and I no longer run this software setup.

Fair enough. he issue is if you go that route is that you lose the monitoring of cadence, resistance, watts, and heart rate if you use a monitor. That being said you would have to open an ADB terminal delete the system and install the basic system via fastboot. Needless to say this get's complicated at best, and realistically you could brick the monitor. I get the frustration. I would just use this method to dip out at watch TH-cam and such do 'Just Ride' rides and have whatever you use for workout instruction streaming on a phone or tablet.
@@JDirom yeah ok thx u make some good points. Just for the record, I believe that peloton (like may in the sports world) have supported the leftist Marxist agenda and I feel bad to give them money. I am also part of a minority myself but I am opting out of supporting the people who openly seek to destroy what I love. And Peloton with good intention is supporting them and that is a problem.
Also, why aren't the classes like Soul Cycle with great music and energy? I would give Peloton music a 1 on a scale of 1-10 , no on a scale of 1-100 they just play such crap music.
