Feel like West Ham’s should be when they finished 7th in 15/16 with Payet smashing it before moving to the Olympic Stadium, spending big on Ayew, Fonte, Ferghouli, Zaza, Zabaleta, Arnautovic, Hernandez... and then sacking Bilic 18 months and replacing him with David Moyes 😂
West ham should've been their 7th place finish in 2016 with Payet and their new stadium, only to almost get relegated the season after and get knocked out of the EL by Astra Giurgiu
In fairness, the loss of AVB to Chelsea actually gave us the UCL with Matteo sooooo... 🤔 I feel like that false dawn had a happy ending within the same season 😂

3:48 Considering the fact that Chelsea went on to Win UCL that season, Europa League the following one and The Premier League in the one after that (albeit all 3 with different managers). Hardly a false dawn.
It may have worked out in the long run, but I’m extremely sure that those achievements were predicted to all happen with AVB as the manager, so yeah it still counts as a false dawn…
Kieran blaney i mean his first season he won the efl cup and europa league so that was a bigger false dawn. also he won the community shield. we almost won the fa cup in 2018 but we failed to win it because of jones(ugh the only goal was a chelsea penalty). honestly i wished we won the fa cup :(
Ozil signing was a false dawn? I know we didnt exactly win the league, but since we signed him we've gotten to five cup finals, won three trophies and came second in the league (Defo should've won it that year, but Ozil played a major part in us even coming close). Before the Ozil signing, we were in a depressing nine year trophy drought
Tbh there are many false dawn moment of Man United post Fergie era, like the arrival of LVG, Ed Woodward transfer frenzy on 2014, the begining of 2017/18 season, that night at Paris, and the latest one Man United 4 - 0 from the PL opener last season.
As a Leicester fan I gotta admit it’s only this year I was expecting a top 6 finish and that was optimistic, heard a lot of people say we need a striker who’s not vardy or a flop then we’ll compete idk though
I would mark Arsenal's false dawn from the Alexis Sanchez signing and the FA cup win. I remember feeling more optimistic as an Arsenal fan in 2014 as the trophy drought was broken
Did you see the teams we got drawn against in the qualifiers at Burnley? Istanbul who nearly won the Turkish league. Olympiacos who are regular champions League features. Whoever tf thought we'd qualify through that is insane.
I think qualifying for Europe was a big deal but Burnley knew they wouldn't get far. We got knocked out by Olympiacos who are a very good side. Could have been worse. Could have been "Astra Fackin' Googoo". Also Ashley Barnes scored more goals than Lukaku. In my eyes he's a Premier League elite.
There were so many things wrong with the AVB signing at Chelsea that I don't know where to start. Genuinely, it was like Roman and the other decision makers at Chelsea were like your average fan. "Oh he worked under Mourinho and was very good at Porto which means he's the next Mourinho". I mean, before the Premier League shattered his resolve and made him into a pragmatist that bored Zenit fans, he was an idealist. He played very attacking, high energy football. He wasn't Mourinho. Not only that but they didn't have the players to play the way he wanted. The old guard like Terry, Lampard and Drogba didn't fit his system but were still too good to be moved on just yet meaning that AVB was pretty much destined to fail. He had to play Sturridge on the right as they didn't have a Hulk equivalent, the ageing squad couldn't press the way he wanted which meant the high backline got demolished leading to him having to play two holding midfielders instead of his preferred one. I wonder what would've come of AVBs managerial career had he been more patient and stayed at Porto and waited for the right situation. He was too stubborn and inexperienced to handle the Chelsea job and Chelsea had a squad that didn't fit him well at all. It just seemed destined to fail. He was neither the next Mourinho as everyone labelled him, or the closest thing to Pep that Roman could get. To be fair, he is still so young so we could see him in the big time again if he does well at Marseille.
03/04 Wolves had massive and I do mean massive injury problems...Our best players were all out for 6 months plus of that season with the likes of Matt Murray and Joleon Lescott literally out for the ENTIRE SEASON! We never stood a chance!
The thing with the city owner from Thailand parallels Villa, both doing shit, both taken over by and Asian that starts off promising then shit hits the fan the money disappears and the clubs almost go under, new billionaire owners come in following season.
Predictions for next season: 1. Man City 2. Liverpool 3. Tottenham 4. Arsenal 5. Chelsea 6. Man United 7. West Ham 8. Everton 9. Wolves 10. Leicester 11. Crystal Palace 12. Watford 13. Aston Villa 14. Burnley 15. Norwich 16. Bournemouth 17. Southampton 18. Newcastle 19. Sheffield United 20. Brighton Changed some teams around now that Rafa has left Newcastle
Saints false dawn was when we finished 6th...we thought we might push top 4 or alternatively win a cup but nope koeman goes we sell some of our best players get negative puel in...annd sink back to boring mediocrity...everyone seems to forgets saints had like 6 years of improvement prior to puel......Saints must be one of the most underrated clubs
Tottenham false dawn finishing second place because everyone thought they were contenders. Arsenal's winning back to.back FA Cups as everyone believed their could be challengers. United winning the Europa because people thought they were a force again. Chelsea winning the league in Contes first year as people believed Chelsea were going to do big things
Please do the opposite like a player with low expectations that became a legend (like it so Irish guy sees)

Harry Kane before 2014

West ham should've been their 7th place finish in 2016 with Payet and their new stadium, only to almost get relegated the season after and get knocked out of the EL by Astra Giurgiu
In 2003 they did get relegated after finishing 7th in 2002.
Nah norwichs false dawn was the first prem season 3rd place finish we couldve become prem mainstays then it crumbled
4:16 So that's where Hennessey got it from...
For norwich you should've mentioned the first season of the premier league cause they finished 3rd that year
In fairness, the loss of AVB to Chelsea actually gave us the UCL with Matteo sooooo... 🤔 I feel like that false dawn had a happy ending within the same season 😂

West Ham for me it's 7th Place in 2016, in that Summer they we're linked with Lacazette as they were supposedly pushing for a title challenge...
