  • Metabo HPT quietly released their new combo kit and while they won't call it compact, it's pretty compact! But how does it fair against the likes of Flex?

Just got a bunch of hikoki tools, I have “trouble” calling it Metabo HPT, just me.
Lowes seems to be clearing out their Bosch 12 volt and Metabo HPT at most stores. Unfortunate for us in the long run, but beneficial now, I guess. Given that’s opening up a sales area for something else.
Back to the point I agree Metabo HPT seems to chase market niches too much for size, rather than selection of multi volt tools period in different trade specific venues. However especially with this promotion and clearance window overlap, you are getting some incredible buys. Now I just need to stop working my regular job so much, to be able to use them. 😉

Agreed. Depot has the 3 tier TTI group, along with Makita and DeWalt. They’ve long since paired down the Porter Cable, and Bosch cordless and most corded.
Lowes needs to steal Makita away from Depot. This would bring in another premium brand. They have far to much in the prosumer brand area. In my opinion of course. You can see from the dust on the packaging and usually the manufacturer month made date that it’s been sitting.

The flex is the more powerful of those drills. They both have lifetime warranties or LSA's right now so if price is equal, then I would go flex. But I know you have ridgid and it's not a bad drill.
I have never had issues with Flex Batteries. I know that Impact Nation Tools puts them to significantly greater stress than I do though, so you might want to ask his opinion if you have doubts. Not tool company is perfect but I think with either of your options you are well protected.

I have the older gen 2 tripple hammer and the new gen 3 tripple hammer and i actually decided to go out and buy the newer regular (double) impact wh18dex instead of using my new tripple hammer when i finally retired my old tripple hammer. Honestly the tripple hammer is smooth and ok for certain applications but i prefer the regualr double hammer for most everyday uses. Its not the fastest but definitely more consistent. The tripple hammer is fast with smaller screws but then can barley get the job done with large lags etc. Its kind of overated and really not that pratical. The wh18dex is smooth enough and kind of on par with upper mid tier makita (xdt14-xdt16 range) having used all three.
I guess i kinda started out a tripple hammer die-hard fan but have slowly evolved into realizing they kinda suck once you get over the smaller screw speed and realize that they really only have a small range they excel in and are pretty much average or below average on everything else
