US national security advisor Jake Sullivan said on Monday that the US does not believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, during a press briefing. A reporter challenged Sullivan, questioning the basis of his statement and asking what criteria he is using to make a judgment.

Over 380,000 German civilians and over 500,000 Japanese civilians were killed (not on purpose) by the Allies in World War II. Were the Allies committing genocide during World War II, or were they fighting against fanatical enemies that didn't care one Whit about the lives of their people and refused to surrender, even though they could clearly see that the war was lost.
