My father was in the famous 1st Echelon of famous 20th Battalion of the 2nd NZEF. It was probably the most highly decorated Battalion in the British Empire. My father fought the mighty and extremely well respected Fallschirmjager in Crete and then again in Monte Cassino. His Battalion suffered 397 KIA out of the original 1,000. On the positive side my mum and dad were hosted to the Fallschirmjager reunion in may/june 1981and they had were put on a right fuss. Many saying what seem silly things now like why were we fighting you look just like us! My mother said the food and wine was great as was the hospitality. My Dad represented the 20th Battalion in Monte Cassino and Charles Upham another 20th member represented the 20th for the Crete bit. Charlie got two VC's in the War and my dad got two citations to the King and an oak Leafe and bar to go with his medals!
I can understand the idea of the photo visual effects, but in reality at Creta May 1941 there were no rain and lightnings.It was very hot and shiny days.
It is a simple Fact.Some Cultures Some People are Just Gifted to be Great Warriors. GERMANY and JAPAN ARE THE BEST EXAMPLE OF WHAT A WARRIOR CULTURE IS ALL ABOUT and IT SHOWS IN THEIR ACTIONS And THEIR SONGS !!! God BLESS THE MEN WHO LOVED THEIR COUNTRY AND THEIR PEOPLE MORE THAN LIFE !!!!

Yes, but more than culture, I would say that it is the geography of these countries that made them more susceptible to war.
