Man ice spice literally winning VMA’s within a year is crazy to me
I mean who else was gonna win.

The industry doesn't try to find and develop talent anymore, you have to already build a following on your own before they mess with you or they'll just plant an artist into the promotion machine based on a popular look, sound or style. Looks and popularity is a must, talent is optional.
Danielle Bregoli
I definitely agree on this take I feel like back then artist had to really put in the work for them to be signed and reach to the masses but due to TikTok anybody can blow up and there’s no proper development with the artist labels will sign anyone who has a viral song and not give them development to grow and they drop them off when they feel like they’ve already got enough what they needed from them.
The sooner the general population realizes and accepts entertainment is being used to shape our minds and keep us complacent and dumbed down to true talent and beauty, the quicker we create a world of music that’s more genuine.
To more than just that but yeah

The gag is they are ALL industry plants. The thing is the top execs don't care to hide it anymore with the newer 'artists'.
I know like wtf. Every single person in the industry was planted
Exactly. Nicki minaj is the only one who isn't planted. I know this because they've blackballed her for over a decade and her fans still support her.
@@dw9524wake your ass up
some clearly arent
Nope. The reality is there are great artists who are not able to get deals because of them not riding with the agendas. The GAG is that the INDUSTRY can't sell real artists because it's not *allowed*
ice spice blew up way too fast
Ice spice is an escort
And Tyla 💧
The rap industry is controlled by millionaires in a Park Avenue penthouse, they ain't never set foot in a Compton or Bankhead or Broward or Brooklyn block.
The thing about industry plants that people don’t like is the marketing / branding of them. When it’s lazily done it’s to cringe to even support something so inauthentic
Sexy red is the biggest industry plant right now
She not a plant at all lol

@@marlomp3y’all don’t even know what an industry plant is. Every person who you don’t like is not a plant
If people are so upset about industry plants, why not find and support artists who are not signed to big labels? Find the local artists who don’t get the same promotion as the so called plants!
Too idealistic and naive😊
@@deder7873 what are you talking about? I’m a working musician in LA and all the bands and artists I work with have great followings all over the city and not one person I know is worried about industry plants. You only get that kind of thing with major label artists. Alternative, independent and local artists are just that, real artists and anyone who hears their music is guaranteed authentic music. People who just let the radio and the billboard charts spoonfeed them their music are the only ones who have to worry and wonder about industry plants.
Music is like food. Don’t eat macdonalds every day and then complain about the quality of the food. Go find real stuff and you’ll not only enjoy it more but you’ll know that it comes from a real place
It is no longer about talent. It's about how many songs you can sell
What upsets me about industry plants is that I follow a lot of “underground” rappers who are some of my favorite artists and have way more talent than Ice Spice. But because they don’t have the same connections they are overlooked. Razegod and Sadzilla are excellent examples of this. But it is legit almost criminal that Derek Pope still hasn’t blown up. I keep waiting each year for his music to go viral because it’s exactly the type of music that does go viral except better. And yet it never does, which blows my mind.
Hard to share your admiration for that talent if the world at large hides them.
Lil nas x is as far as you can be from an industry plant. Dude was promoting his songs in twitter comments for like 8 months and it barely got 300 views on each.
He grinded like that for a while with the same formula as OTR. Song with games being played in the back(sonic, mario, etc).
He even released an EP from what i remember, Rio de janieiro or something. And the MV in the cemetery.
Then Old town road was released and it blew up like 2 months after.
He got the record deal after it. Industry plants get an record deal before releasing any music. Lil nas x isnt an industry plant and its funny when i see people mention that just because his record label promotes him a lot right now.
With how big social media and streaming is today…the industry pumping out these industry pants like candy😂
Chance was a industry plant he blew up quick but they couldn’t manage his buzz cause his rap is lame at the end of the day an industry plant is gonna fade out more times than not cause they don’t got they IT factor that keeps fans into their music
I do agree that it would be great to see independent artists win and get big, we all know deep down inside it won't happen 99% of the time. And instantly writing off the only people that are popular enough to keep hip hop popular, may ultimately kill the industry faster than a "plant" that millions listen to and enjoy per song. This video was great, but I kinda know the optimistic side of me is naive for thinking that writing off anyone with industry support will help the industry in the near future.
One of his main points in the video is that millions of people AREN’T listening to them though that’s half the reason music is so boring and bland and why executives are “depressed” because somebody becomes successful and every other label snatches up other artists and shape them into clones of the successful artists and they flop and/or people see what they did and they aren’t interested shit like this is also why rappers are struggling to sell concert tickets with the exception of older artists
Exactly! Look at russ’ last album sales that the industry discounted some sales of them to making it seem like independent artists aint doing well
@@TheScarekrow420 I agree with the video. I'm just saying what I think will actually happen
Yes but it isn't easy sometimes labels will want to bully u out or in oppress u or depress u
It's terrible
Blame the labels for pushing all this trash music and blame the fans for eating it up. Ppl like Pump, SmokePurp and Yeat shouldve never been a thing

Has it dawned on anyone because of social media This is probably how most of these connections are being made we can talk to anyone we want too oh here's a funfact Chances dad is or was a politician so he had the funds to help Chance with his music career.
@thisguy1299this guy go read some more he is listed as a politician because I'm still waiting to see what I wrote was wrong he helped his son with some of finances Early on in his career
@thisguy1299yes but his dad is still public figure and has a known name compared to what joe schmo who's parents work Amazon or something chance put in all the work himself imo but not gonna say his dad being his dad didn't help him cuz it did
@thisguy1299Oh gimmee a break!! LMAO headass 🤦🏾
Agreed his dad’s connections within the policial word probably wasn’t supporting Chances early work where he commonly spoke about taking drugs. If anything I bet it was probably hurting his dads career
You’re speaking to intelligently slow down there. I cant stand these “everyone is an industry plant” people!!!
A debut album on major label is a sign.
I think part of the problem with industry plants right now is that a whole swath of genuine, promising rappers got killed, locked up, or cancelled in the past maybe 10 years. Off the top of my head there was Mac Miller, Xxxtentacion, Lil Peep, Juice Wrld, Pop Smoke and too many other Chicago drill rappers to name, YNW Melly, NBA Youngboy (he’s free but afraid of violating probation), Bobby Shmurda (got locked up in his prime), and Pooh Shiesty. 6ix9ine and DaBaby were cancelled. Once 6ix9ine was cancelled, Trippie Redd had to dial it back. DaBaby still makes hits but the industry doesn’t promote him.
All these dead and incarcerated rappers leave a void that gets filled with industry plants. A similar environment existed in the late 90s after 2Pac and Biggie got killed. It didn’t end until maybe 2003. A similar thing happened in rock music when a bunch of grunge artists died or got too addicted to make music.
This cycle will hopefully restart in 2025. But theres a real possibility that instead, AI will enable labels to make the ultimate industry plants and nobody will ever get real traction again.
6:41 coi lorey’s parents are famous
I wouldn’t say doja is an industry plant. She’s been here a while. Remember London Yellow drama? I’m a cow.
I wish the audience were wise enough to choose proper artists.. its sad to see the decline of music in general
Edit: plus talent is not a thing these days in the 'industry' they just pick out random artists from Tik Tok and make them mainstream no matter how good or bad their songs are.. social media too is the main factor behind the decline
Industry plants exists point blank period there definitely gettin pushed by the industry/labels. Ima artist, independent, created my own lane, started from the ground up, and self taught never needed /had record labels or any major companies tell me if Im dope, popular, marketable or not to get into the mainstream everything ive created/ build still continue to do is because of faith and investing in myself without no help from nobody so theres a difference
Record labels signing copycats isn't exactly a phenomenon restricted to the 90s - this Lil Pump thing was done before. Young Thug is basically a clone of Lil Wayne in every single aspect except he can;t really rap, he's just autotune singing. But he has the same flow, same style, everything. Just a lot worse...
Still makes better music than whoever you listen to
@Tocinos No the fuck he doesn't.
@@blissfulinsomniac5711 yes, in just about every way
Never man. It'll never change. Evil businesses hadn't ever become better, but only greedier and worse. Since the beginning of times.
This is what happens when the industry is run by lawyers and accountants Prince back like 15 years ago said this..
he also said that they wouldnt know real music if it hit em in the face lol
2:41 discovering new artists has never been hard, you just aren't looking for them because you continue to eat up whatever the industry is marketing.
You won't argue against this because you know I'm right. 🐑🐑🐑

I’d say an industry plant in acting is Jennifer Lawrence. She came out of nowhere and was heading A list films
Long movie franchises need no name actors though. If its successful their pay keeps going up per movie.
that’s the record labels fault, oh well.
I don't care if someone is an industry plant if what they put out is good entertainment.
Bobbi Althoff did 3 podcasts total before she landed Drake.

Hip hop had run its course!! I am sick and tired of hip hop!!
What probably will happen is that there will be a revolution of new independent music that will get popular in response to modern stuff simply being manufactured and industry made. This happened with grunge movement when all of the rock and metal at the time was getting old and fake whilst the grunge sound spoke to a alienated generation.
"Authenticity" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice
Industry plants=CIA plants. Monarchs
in the 2000s american music dominated the charts everywhere in the world . here in latinamerica the top songs where mostly fromthe USA and few latinamerican artist nnow you to find a song written by an american you should get atleast to the 50th place..

i got a like and comment from ice spice on my song called bame, it was on my soundcloud page, i wondered if it meant that i would be the next industry plant, and i wanted to do it but then i was hurting and felt depressed, so i thought i was too lazy, when really it was all just the constant fatigue i felt and feel all the time,
People just need to accept that its quicker to blow up in 2023 😂
Shit started with Drake
Næh i don’t care we’re the artist came from or who have boosted them. Do I like a song then I like that song and that’s it.
I'm just tired of greed being the status quo
Ice spice winning awards in commercials but only have one album that did nothing
Doja Cat is beyond talented. You tried it.
Her album Scarlet sold 6k pure albums but her streaming is so high
Since xxxtentacion, juice wrld, pop smoke, lil peep and king von died the music industry turned into trash. Miss the legends.
Imagine selling out and failing and you have a face covered in tattoos LMAO and I thought neck tattoos were bad😂
All in the name of money
When are y'all gonna start making videos about the fans are also the problem because they don't consume actual substance but STAAAYYYS complaining about it.. stop listening to Ice Spice and Bobbi and listen to actual podcasters and actual rappers if y'all feel so deeply about it. The industry only does what they see will sell, so then why invest in a Noname or Rhapsody because YALL DONT SUPPORT THEM but ice spice gets maadd views. The fans don't want to make the necessary sacrifices to make shit better
Shoutout to new artist that actually grinded....denzel curry...etc
Throw your tv’s out and turn your radio in your car off.

The problem I’ve faced is that it seems like everyone’s an industry plant. Kanye wouldn’t be Kanye if he wasn’t connected to Jay-z, making Kanye an industry plant. Tyler the creator wouldn’t be big if he hadn’t known frank ocean who like worked for jay-z and Kanye too… so it’s just industry plants making industry plants making industry plants while a huge sector of the marketing campaigns of these artists is to distance yourself from the industry plant name… and honestly I’m kinda bored of it cause its firstly disingenuous but it’s also like these artists then go about saying things like “just go out there, be yourself, dare to be different, anyone can do it”… and it’s like so many of them are setting people up to fail cause they will never have the social connections these big names have. And what’s fucked up is that the entire follow your dreams and be yourself bs is just part of these artists marketing campaign, it’s fucking marketing its Bullshit. They know selling themselves as self made and that you can do it makes you want to buy their shit even more
