There are some strange variations of semi-automatic transmissions with clutch, but that is a different story. It is possible to drift an automatic cars, but it wouldn't be as good as manual.

@etzule6782 yeah I can see that, dialogue definitely took a hit and went too serious which made it boring, but still not as bad as it was in stage 4. Physics were never initial D's strength, definitely could have been better there. Camera work on the other hand I feel stage 5 did well so I cant agree with you on that
Well to be fair the Lincoln InTec is surprisingly good despite only being a 4.6 liter v8, the predecessors to this car had 7.5 liter (460 cubic inch) engines in them
btw the drifting sound effects they are the same as Initial D drifting sound effects, like 0:49 the braking sound effect is the same as when shingo brakes to try to not crash into the guardrail (sorry for my bad english)
