    Ravels valses nobles et sentimentales is such an amazing set of pieces, one of my favourite! Each waltz has so much character, and the final waltz is such an amazing conclusion with its references to the earlier waltzes, so reflective….

    All the way from the title to this first episode, I can tell that this will be a lovely ride! I'm a 15 year old looking to be a classical pianist and you are such a mentor to me, giving me insight with all your unique approaches to music. Thank you for sharing, Tiffany!

      Aww being a mentor is a serious responsibility I won't take for granted. I hope you'll continue to be inspired and excited about the piano 🤗🎹

    I love your videos where you're indulging a distraction, then suddenly start to play, and then provide your thoughts on it. It's something I relate to and find myself doing; usually more monologuing than playing. It's why I subbed; a unique personal perspective on the individual behind and at the piano!

    Yay for a new series! It has been a long two days (just busy), and your videos are always such a mental palette cleanser. Also yay for finding new foods to enjoy (ok, maybe that is to be decided on cheese, but yay for still exploring). I am very much looking forward to your upcoming concert here in Michigan. I hope the Michigan weather is getting most of the snow out of its system now so that everyone will have a nice time traveling when the time comes. Thank you for sharing, and take care.

    Describing Ravel's music as akin to cheese is such an apt comparison. It's an acquired taste that grows on you as you uncover its nuances, until one day, it just clicks, and you realize you truly love it and there's no going back. You know I already love Ravel's funky music, but as a cheese lover, I welcome you to the world of cheese and wish to see a fellow enthusiast emerge in you as well. 🧀🥖
    Indeed, I find it interesting that you turned things on their head this time by being transparent on the album from the onset which is quite a contrast to your previous one. Also, I love the new style of this vlog. It seems you're keen on rocking the boat and ruffling some feathers along the way. 😉🌊🦜
    I also once thought whether you started to learn French as you ventured into French music like you did with German as you explored Schumann and voilà, here you are with the (in)famous green owl. That made me chuckle. I'm now halfway through the last section of French since I started over a year ago and it's been a long trek.
    Je vous souhaite bonne chance dans vos nouvelles aventures. 😊

    Like the starry sky, there is almost a whole universe of flavours when you open the door to the 'universe' of cheese. A Mothais (a French goat's cheese) with a flavour reminiscent of hazelnut and dried flowers. Or a piece of Tomme de Savoie... Where to stop? 😄
    I like your comparison very much: a universe of flavours like the universe of sound colours and nuances when you open the door to the world of Ravel.
    I spent one of my most beautiful moments in France when I was a teenager. In Paris and in the French Alps (La Savoie). And especially in the Alps... I still remember sitting there and seeing this mountain massif right in front of me ('Mont Peney', but I'm not sure I remember the name correctly), this wonderful aroma: in the air, of the food (the fresh sheep milk cheese from the little mountain cheese dairy in the neighbouring village, this tomato salad, the fresh bread...), the warmth of the sun on my skin...
    Thank you for bringing back these memories right now. And thank you for your music and the inspiration you give! ☺️
    Michael

    • @christopheryoung1878
      @christopheryoung1878 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First of Ravel’s Valses Nobles et Sentimentales.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valses_nobles_et_sentimentales_(Ravel)?wprov=sfti1#
      The Valses nobles et sentimentales is a suite of waltzes composed by Maurice Ravel. The piano version was published in 1911, and an orchestral version was published in 1912. The title was chosen in homage to Franz Schubert, who had released collections of waltzes in 1823 entitled Valses nobles and Valses sentimentales. The piano edition is published with a quotation of Henri de Régnier: "…le plaisir délicieux et toujours nouveau d'une occupation inutile" (the delicious and forever-new pleasure of a useless occupation).
      Quick Facts Published, Movements ...
      The suite contains an eclectic blend of Impressionist and Modernist music, which is especially evident in the orchestrated version.

    La rue assourdissante autour de moi hurlait.
    Longue, mince, en grand deuil, douleur majestueuse,
    Une femme passa, d'une main fastueuse
    Soulevant, balançant le feston et l'ourlet;
    Agile et noble, avec sa jambe de statue.
    Moi, je buvais, crispé comme un extravagant,
    Dans son oeil, ciel livide où germe l'ouragan,
    La douceur qui fascine et le plaisir qui tue.
    Un éclair... puis la nuit! - Fugitive beauté
    Dont le regard m'a fait soudainement renaître,
    Ne te verrai-je plus que dans l'éternité?
    Ailleurs, bien loin d'ici! trop tard! jamais peut-être!
    Car j'ignore où tu fuis, tu ne sais où je vais,
    Ô toi que j'eusse aimée, ô toi qui le savais!
