Grass silage 2024 | Fendt 724 S4 + Claas triple | + Forage harvesting crew!

Due to a warm winter and spring with plentiful moisture in the Netherlands the first cut of grass silage is early this year. We visit large scale dairy farm Van Veelen Holsteins in the Netherlands where they are mowing and harvesting the first cut of grass early April. First we see their Fendt 724 Vario S4 with a Claas Disco 3220 FC front and Disco 9200C butterfly mower at work knocking down 350 acres of first cut.
A few days later this is chopped using a Claas Jaguar 960. The self propelled forage harvester is supported by the Fendt 724, this time with a Schuitemaker Rapide 660 and 2x Claas Arion 650 with Kaweco Radium 50 silage trailers. On the clamp is the farms' JCB 427 Agri loading shovel with a buck rake in a special black livery.

We can't even think about getting into the field with slurry let alone 1st cut for silage will be May24th if we're lucky

@@benjaminnoordam7707 1st cut doesnt usually start around 10th of june here on avg, some is earlier ofc but in general thats when we start. Not even started slurry and spring tillage here. could be another 1,5-2weeks until

Does the farm do everything themselves, or is some of the work done by a contractor?. And how many cows does such a place have. Great video as always👍

The forage harvester is owned by a contractor the rest is all their own equipment. I don't know how many cows they have but maybe 700?
