I think what made me upset is that they added the stitching to the upper to resemble a leather boot. All that effort and it’s like at point, just make them k-leather lol. Maybe it’s just me. And I own the blackout legend X, which is a good boot. But it’s just frustrating they make this look so premium and still leave us wanting what we really want
So a few people have this misconception that the stitching is purely just for looks, totally understandable but that's actually not the case. The stitching is what's going to provide that pillowing effect which will adjust the touch and feel on the ball, maybe give the boot a little more of that elegant leather feel. Stitching on the whole is also a stabiliser on soft uppers, so while yes Nike have clearly designed this to resemble a more classic leather boot, the Tiempo hasn't really looked like a classic leather boot in a long time and the stitching does serve a purpose. Still for sure doesn't stop anyone wanting leather or even the potential that it would have been better, just providing a little context on the stitching.
@ ok thanks for providing context on the stitching, interesting points. I’m more just generally disappointed Nike doesn’t make leather timpos (or a boot like the leather t90s) anymore. Also just generally bit disappointed in Nike football boots for last couple years. Last year I switched over to adidas (I wear predator 24s, FG, non fold over tongue) and I’ve been enjoying these boots. I feel as though Nikes been missing the mark with most their football boots over last couple years (probably besides the mercurials/superflys). Just my personal opinion.
@@gabr131s totally fair and I think that's 100% the talking point for the disappointment. It's a Tiempo and it's not leather It's a made in montebelluna premium Tiempo and it's not premium leather. I think they're the very fair criticisms of this.
i remember growing up, if u wanted a pair of leather boots ,that were comfortable and had quality leather, youd get a pair of tiempos. its unfortunate to see Nike revert to synthetics in the tiempo line. i understand its to reduce the costs of manufacturing but theyve left a huge advantage for their competitors, allowing them to make their leather products shine and instead they follow the big dogs trend. what a shame. "tiempo" means "time" in spanish, i miss the timeless leather days of this boot
What a fantastic video - your replies to fellow TH-camrs are also on point. You’re my number one football boot dude cause you don’t miss anything. Are you anywhere near west acton?
Hey, thanks for watching and for the kind words. In terms of being near West Acton, not in the correct country haha, so no not that close! I live in Ireland. You are correct in thinking I'm English though.
Seems like this is the model is a step in the right direction for leather synthetics- especially with the shape and increased softness I’m not sure we will see this change until the 11 unfortunately. I still think no leather from Montebelluna was “smelly” 😂
Yeah I don't think we will see anything change until the 11 either, which might even mean 2026!!!!!!!! Ah, I see, now I know which of the podcast hosts is commenting this 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This boot (and the Asics you've shown) just further remind me that, while there's nothing wrong with companies wanting to make the switch to a synthetic leather, if you treat the material like it a leather it will feel WAY more like the leather you're trying to copy. Also, unless Nike specifically said these are boots made of leather (which i don't believe they did) this controversy just feels ...i dunno a bit of farmed outrage stemming from them switching off leather for the boot line as whole. Like the Pro Direct lying about the amount of Year of the Snake predators they were gonna have feels like a WAY more legitimate controversy to me.
Nothing wrong with making the switch at all, companies just have to deliver something that is a suitable alternative, as you say the ASICS absolutely does that. I think it's also important to consider the heritage of a boot, there wouldn't be anybody complaining about a Nike boot using this technology if it wasn't the Tiempo. You are correct Nike did not say these were leather at any point, however, I think the controversy here isn't necessarily just the lack of leather, the issue is that they're the made in montebelluna which is supposed to be the best of the best and in a lot of people's minds when compared to previous made in montebelluna tiempos this was never going to be able to reach that standard, especially as they're being inspired by a previous much loved Tiempo. Again here, if this was just a special limited edition release without the made in montebelluna there wouldn't have been as much of an outrage or a controversy to speak of from many people. Which I think overall just seems to point to Nike misreading their audience and getting how they're positioning their boots and marketing wrong for this switch to synthetic on the Tiempo. Don't get me wrong, I personally am a fan of the switch and as someone who doesn't wear or review leather boots I'm actually delighted that the Tiempo is synthetic, but, I also do see the issues that many have with the change on the Tiempo line.
@marcogiles30 is this confirmed? I saw a few people speculate but I've not seen anything confirmed on this and it isn't something Nike do that often. Would be interesting to see if that's actually the case.

Fantastic review - I won’t be moving back to them anytime soon but if they trend the whole boot in this direction (stitching and mid-to box shaping are the two key things here) I could be convinced to buy them on sale down the line. The tens are just so bad as a starting point but I’m glad you framed this review positively to demonstrate where Nike should be going. These companies need to pay you guys a small consultancy fee and get you in the design boardroom for a 2-day citizen feedback education session haha…or maybe they just don’t want to know!
Hahaha, why pay us when we put our opinions out on the internet for all to see 😂😂. I'm sure they don't pay much attention to us anyway, especially not a channel my size. Thanks for watching and totally understand that you're not looking to move back to them, but I agree with you this is trending 100% jn the right direction.
Hypothetically yes I'd be very happy with it. The new shape is really great, obviously that's a little bit down to my foot type and it won't be the case for everyone, but it should be the case for a lot of people and the step in comfort and improved upper is lovely. Big fan so far. Do need to get them on a pitch though.
I absolutely love this boot and would get it had it been leather. I’ve tried synthetic but it just doesn’t feel even remotely close to leather to me. Been a tiempo fan/user since for a long time. Will probably get either Mizuno or Copas once my tiempo 8s are done. Great review
Always remember each synthetic is different. I'm not saying this one is like lesther or you should get it, just that the same way not each leather boot has the same touch and feel neither does each synthetic leather boot.
@ I fully understand where you are coming from. It’s just the comfort once that leather breaks in is just *chefs kiss* although the synthetic boots I’ve worn have been good it hasn’t swayed me to make the switch. Next boot I’d like to get is Mizuno.

I think for a lot of us collectors, the special edition releases of tiempos were special because of the superb leather being used. The smell and the fit of the gold totti tiempos and the algerian leather of the pirlo ones were made even more impressive by the materials being used. Call me a traditionalist, but by moving to synthetics under the conception of it being more environmentally friendly and that theyd been able to come up with a synthetic equivalent is a load of rubbish. Its simply a way of mass producing and saving money. Its the main reason why i binned off my tiempo X to play in and went back to my Tiempo 9s. The level of fit and touch between the two is miles apart.
As I say in the video I totally understand why people want this to be leather especially when you combine the fact it's a tiempo and a made in montebelluna special edition. I do also generally agree with you that the move to synthetic being touted as a great environmentally friendly move is pretty much rubbish.
It’s like a mid cycle revamp To class it as a “made in montebelluna” is annoying cause you expect the best of the best which unfortunately it’s not. I mean you’ve made me hate it less but I still think I hate it hahab Great video once again!
A mid cycle revamp is exactly what this should be, the worst thing is that we probably are about to go back to the normal legend 10 when this is so much better.
Different is unfortunately the best description I can give! The Yamatokyo may be a little softer out of the box, the Tiempo is thinner, just very different! I'd also have to wear these tiempos for a proper comparison really. I'll put out a video at some point comparing all the synthetic leathers I've got, I'll get it up for members asap, I'll aim for next week.
I like leather boots. I used to buy top end models but I just dont play enough to justify buying the top end. I just bought a take down pair of the copa pures cause I dont wanna spend 100+ for boots anymore lol
As I stated on your original review and the recent podcast,I have stated number of time that these boots are very much a continuation of the CTR360 or magista opus, which is why I always if you love the CTR360 and Magista Opus, you will love these However on the flip side,I feel bad for the Tiempo Legend 10 elite not because it was bad but the legend 10 was already thrown in a huge uphill battle. Nike has tried to push it but it hasn’t worked as much as they would have liked and as many of us stated, this version while improved is unfortunately Nike making its audience angry
@BootWizard The colours of your clothes, the boots and the table are pretty close, so the boots are almost invisible. That's what I'm talking about ;)
Anyone looking for great quality leather football boots... I love my Pantafola D'Oro Epoca. Full Kangaroo Leather upper. Miss the old days of leather Tiempos and I went elsewhere.
Sadly, most purists cannot be wrong on this. Plastic is plastic, it cannot be more premium, the manufacturing cost is virtually exactly the same as the regular model (ignoring the reworking of the shape and adding stitching, purely materials) And i have a slight bias, but legends like Kaká (and others) always go into leather boots when they are not being paid to wear current models. They always pick a pair of Adidas Copa Mundial, Mizuno Morelia or Puma King classic for a very good reason, they are the most comfortable; simply the best boot
Older players are not looking for a performance boot. They opt for those 'classic' models because they're well rounded - thick and comfortable enough upper, conical studs. Why risk playing in a ultra light mercurial vapor that might be a bit too tight around the foot for their liking, with odd shaped studs as a 40 or 50 year old when you're playing a one-off game?
@juuglord8509 Cristiano Ronaldo wore the World Cup by Adidas before his Nike lifetime contract, Zlatan wore the Copa Mundial before his 🤷🏻♂️ they were two dominant players physically in two of the heaviest, but most comfortable, boots available. They are perfect to play the beautiful game, the rest is all marketing to produce for less and sell for more profit Plus Kaká for example would wear blackout Copas and Morelias as a professional. I am not talking about charity matches
@@JonathanRodriguez-nz9nw those were different times, Zlatan and Cristiano simply wore boots provided by their club. Nothing to do with their preferences. Let's be honest, people can still buy those leather boots you mentioned. Boots nowadays are still significantly better from a performance standpoint despite the materials being used.
Interesting debate guy, great to hear your different points of view. My own 2c is that while there is a place for things like the Copa Mundial it is indeed outdated and does not have anywhere near the performance characteristics of modern boots, that doesn't mean all modern boots are better but there are even classic Style leather boots that do a lot of things better than these heritage boots do. As I say they have a place, they're just not the forefront of the industry anymore. Even if people want to stick with leather there are options from Mizuno, Adler even Adidas that offer a lot the Copa doesn't. It does work the other way around as well of course, but purely in performance terms from a reviewers point of view the newer boots simply do a lot of things better. We shouldn't totally write off the heritage classics like the Copa as obsolete, but we also shouldn't overlook the comparative improvements in modern boots synthetic or leather.
@BootWizard definitely do not want to write off technical innovations such as a creation of materials (Puma with their first, true carbon fiber plate), but the fact of the matter is that modern boots do not actually improve performance at all. If you put Nicolas Williams in a pair of pair of any " nearly obsolete" boots, he will still perform to the same level. A good modern example are the current Puma Ultras. Yes, the carbon fiber version feels, and is, incredibly responsive. It is a technical advancement over the regular Ultra 5 Ultimate and every other boot. But what it does not do is make the wearer any faster, more agile or perform any better in any measurable way than a person playing in an old pair of F5s from Adidas or a soaked pair of World Cup. There might be something to be said for the placebo effect, but technical innovations are not improvements for performance, because even a prematch ritual that makes you feel good will give you a mental edge just as strong as the most hardcore "performance" boots. When i was in uni, Josh from SR4U did an informal experiment on this actually. He found no measurable difference in his tests from the different boots he tried. I already knew since i have always played with "heavy" boots for years, just like the feel, custom fit and premium leather touch myself. At the end of the day, it is all personal preferance because you can get the same performance benefits out if any boot that fits you properly (or even ones that blister your heels like Mercurials 1-7)
The Heel hasn't got the Montebelluna badge like the other's, stuck down the name. Got the Italian flag an is it a Poron insole? Nothing like Pirlo's Nike Tiempo Legend with Alegria Luxury Leather. An for sale on Ebay, no..
Do remember that it's only inspired by the Pirlo tiempo it isn't supposed to be a remake. Not saying some of those things wouldn't be nice touches or nice to have, but also especially in design terms. not really something I was expecting. All boots are on eBay these days, people looking to make a quick buck scalping. Unfortunate situation that companies need to do more to address
Leather is for the rich lol, i got 2 pairs of tiempos 50% off. they are speed boot like and light, i am a mercurial fan cant complain. Poor mans mercurial
The Tiempo Premier was launched in 94 and is generally considered the birth of the modern Tiempo but Nike had the Tiempo D around since 1984, so 84 is the correct date for the entire Tiempo lifespan really.
@ constant releases of “unique and limited” models that many cannot get, subtle or undesired changes to models and bad or outright false marketing in models. I think Nike and Adidas need to be chopped down a bit. If buyers were more diverse (buying mizuno, asics, ect) it would force big brands to put more intelligent effort into their releases. Buyers shouldn’t jump at every (way too fast) release/update. The big brands would make sure their releases were as best as possible. Buyers shouldn’t spend their money wider. Products are entirely overpriced and inflated. Biggest culprit is the Merc dream speed for example. Just some thoughts.
@RushStriker9 pretty much agree with all of them, really appreciate you sharing. Spot on with the cosmic speed ball by the way, that whole line infuriates me.
I‘m terribly sorry, but if they just made this a normal „exclusive“ synthetic upper without the stitches I would have liked them a Bit more. But the fact that they made it Look Like leather just annoys me. Like, if u want to go away from leather just Stick with the Synthetic and dont try to make it Look Like leather (Even if it tries to be a throwback boot). What really infuriates me is the fact that prodirectsoccer tries to make the extra stitching a selling Point (they help with lateral stability, on a synthetic Upper?!) to justify the Price. All in all its a good and beautiful Boot, but I personally would Not buy it, if I can buy some mij mizunos for the Same Price.
So a few people have this misconception that the stitching is purely just for looks, totally understandable but that's actually not the case. The stitching is what creates the pillowing effect which is going to adjust the overall touch and feel on the ball and while pro direct are probably over selling it, does help the stability, now obviously looking at the in line release it's obvious that they don't need it to provide adequate stability in the flytouch plus upper, but what it can allow them to do is to make the upper softer and provide the structure and stability through stitching rather than the material itself, this can apply across leather and synthetics, it's just more important in leather because providing natural leather with structure without adding bulky liners or unwanted coatings is hard. The Adler Yamatokyo is a good example of a synthetic leather boot that would suffer stability wise if it didn't have the stitching. Obviously totally personal preference if you like the direction they went with the look and even the use of the stitching I'm sure they could have achieved this in multiple other ways, the 442 elite has gone with grooves rather than stitching for it's slight pillowing effect. Absolutely not saying you're wrong and a MIJ Mizuno Morelia II for example as you mention has probably almost always been a better option than a Tiempo even the leather ones. Just providing a little background as to the use of the stitching.
Limier edition plastic in its very essence. It’s like sugar coating shit and people are buying into it. I’ve had a lot of tiempo’s in 40 years. Abhorrent in my opinion.
Not discrediting your opinion but do you hold the same opinion on limited edition F50s and for example the most recent limited edition Mercurial remakes? The reason I mention that is because I don't think in essence the issue is that it's a limited edition synthetic boot. The issue is for most people, I assume yourself included, that it's a limited edition Tiempo that isn't leather. Synthetics can be and do make excellent football boots, so I don't think synthetic is the problem, being a synthetic Tiempo is the actual issue.
I had a lot of people comment about them being plastic and therefore cheap, my question to most is, what about the adidas F50, nobody is complaining about that, the adidas Predator that everyone is going crazy for, it's plastic just the same way no complaints. You're obviously entitled to your own opinion on this and I'm absolutely not trying to be difficult, I'm just trying to give people something to think about, because, personally, I think the issue is that it's a Tiempo and it's synthetic, not boots that are synthetic, it's the desire and expectation of the Tiempo name. Totally valid reasoning to not like it, a Tiempo should be leather is a perfectly acceptable statement. I just don't think the issue is synthetic boots, it's synthetic Tiempos. Again plenty of people who might just only wear leather, totally valid if that's the case too, wear what suits you and what you like.
I bought a pair in my usual size, but the fit on the heel and mid foot was so incredibly tight, could barely get my foot in. I had to send them straight back because they literally made my foot ache in the 1 minute they were on, didn't even walk in them.

Nike has tried to push it but it hasn’t worked as much as they would have liked and as many of us stated, this version while improved is unfortunately Nike making its audience angry
Absolutely agree, uphill battle all the way here. One thing after another
When is the Tiempo 11 coming though whatever it is ?
I don't actually know but based on a normal Nike cycle it should be mid 2025, but I haven't seen any info yet
Didn't think about the need to put a newspaper on the table before the review
Why would I need to put a newspaper on the table?
@@BootWizard In that case we would find the hidden boots
@@anteosof I have no idea what you're talking about.
@BootWizard The colours of your clothes, the boots and the table are pretty close, so the boots are almost invisible. That's what I'm talking about ;)
@@anteosof might want to turn up the brightness on your screen or something, pretty clear from where I'm sat.
Thanks for watching either way.
its wierd i dont a see a single leak for an upcoming tiempo 11 this year
Yeah we would expect one around the summer. But nothing yet! Maybe this is the leak 😂
how does it compare to the x fly 5 se?
X Fly 5 se synthetic leather is nicer
Anyone looking for great quality leather football boots... I love my Pantafola D'Oro Epoca. Full Kangaroo Leather upper. Miss the old days of leather Tiempos and I went elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing
Sadly, most purists cannot be wrong on this. Plastic is plastic, it cannot be more premium, the manufacturing cost is virtually exactly the same as the regular model (ignoring the reworking of the shape and adding stitching, purely materials)
And i have a slight bias, but legends like Kaká (and others) always go into leather boots when they are not being paid to wear current models.
They are perfect to play the beautiful game, the rest is all marketing to produce for less and sell for more profit
Plus Kaká for example would wear blackout Copas and Morelias as a professional.
Hahaha, can never complain when it's 50% off, love that.
For me the normal tiempo 10 fits way better so for me the shape of this new version sucks
Interesting, I don't think the regular Tiempo 10 is a good shape at all, but, different things suit different people. Thanks for sharing.
@ yes, for me the tiempo 9 elite also was to wide, the 10 fits just perfect. Thanks for your answer.
shouldnt it say 1994?
The Tiempo Premier was launched in 94 and is generally considered the birth of the modern Tiempo but Nike had the Tiempo D around since 1984, so 84 is the correct date for the entire Tiempo lifespan really.
So Nike made a Mizuno Morelia Neo IV beta MIJ without real leather and worse in every way? Got it 😂
Hahaha, I see where you're going with that. 😂😂
Looks good but this represents so much bad retail practice and shouldn’t be supported. 💁🏻♂️
This is an interesting point, what do you view as bad retail practice here?
(I'm not disagreeing with you I'd just like to hear your take)
@ constant releases of “unique and limited” models that many cannot get, subtle or undesired changes to models and bad or outright false marketing in models.
@ fr!!! Keep it up your channel and the podcast are great 🤘🏼
I‘m terribly sorry, but if they just made this a normal „exclusive“ synthetic upper without the stitches I would have liked them a Bit more.
300 quid for a pair of cheaply made (let's be honest) football boots. What has the world come to?!?!?!
Unfortunately that's about the price of an elite level boot from Nike or Adidas these days €250-€300. Madness
Полная лажа !))))
Insightful
As soon as he said not leather.... I left. Bye.
Did you? Or did you write a comment first? 🤪😉
@BootWizard paused and left yes. They ruined a good boot.
@@josephgarcia1575 you came back though 😉😉😜
@BootWizard ya to write you back not to watch pst when I left. No need to waist more time learning about worthless plastic shoes.
@@josephgarcia1575 oh hey! Fancy seeing you here, we need to stop bumping into each other like this.
the boot is fine. nike is shit. marketing failure. call this a different name and make the shape like this from release and nobody complains
Everyone would just complain that the Tiempo was gone 😂
I stopped buying tiempos, plastic cheap not worth it
I had a lot of people comment about them being plastic and therefore cheap, my question to most is, what about the adidas F50, nobody is complaining about that, the adidas Predator that everyone is going crazy for, it's plastic just the same way no complaints.
Ah that's disappointing, I found the fit to be fair superior, but of course we've all got different foot shapes.
