Very informative video. I just purchased a box of 60 and love them. I don't letter, although I would love to be able to, but I wanted them for coloring. I was using Bristol Smooth, much too slick for that so I am glad to hear you tell us what paper to use. :)
Thank you so much! Yes I have used Bristol paper too. I do love using Canson XL Watercolor Paper, however you do run a risk of fraying the nibs. I will say I have had mine over 2 years and the only nib I frayed was the black pen!

Honestly I'm so that you started a TH-cam channel, I already love your content on instagram and this just means more!😊😀And this was probably the most detailed review I've seen for these markers.👍 I love these as well and btw you should test the paper from stylefile marker sketchbooks, I get great blends on that paper. As a little bit of critic, everytime you write something the perspective was weird to look at and I was uncomfortable..so if you could change that it would make your vids even better!😉I am looking forward to watching more videos of you! I've just discovered that brush markers are a 'thing' and your review was by far the most insightful. New sub. I'm interested in creating graphics inspired by Chinese art which uses a calligraphic brush stroke, and these pens look absolutely perfect for this application. So useful to know what paper works too!
@@SarahStyleDesigns - my Karin brush pens have arrived! Along with some brushes (a mixture of oriental and western), some waterbrushes, and soluble-graphite pencils (Faber Castelle) and ArtGraf graphite. Can't wait to start playing.
I have to tell you -- most brush lettering is completely illegible. The tendency is to make it so wild that we can't read it, but I adore your style. It's clean, creative, and legible. KUDOS! Also, I have a recommendation -- get going as an Amazon affiliate, so you can list the markers and papers under your videos and make a commission.
I haven't used them on a bullet journal, I guess it would depend on the thickness of the paper. If it is a thinner paper then yes, it definitely would bleed through since they are so juicy!

Hot press watercolor paper is smooth and won't damage the nibs, and there is definitely affordable hot press paper available. I bet Stillman and Birn paper from the Epsilon series and Zeta series would be good for these, but that's just a guess

It's ink, my apologies for using those terms. You can utilize the ink as paint (watercolor) so this is why I keep saying them interchangeably. I should have specified more!

EXCELLENT VIDEO... "Bravo". What I'm looking for is the REAL "INK".... Permeant INK... Water Resistant (In other words... If you put water with these, like you would with Water Color... they would bleed) I need INK (the biggest box) that does not bleed with water.

Just bought these and LOVE THEM!! Except I think they are leaking. Once i'm done writing I have ink all over my hands (which is hard to get off) and there are small splatter spots on my paper/ work areas. I have the ecoline and tom bow and haven't encountered this. Any input?? Not sure if it's me or the pens :/ Tried looking up information but couldn't' find anything.
Hello! These should not be leaking! They are very "juicy" but they should not leave splatter marks. Maybe you could contact them, that set may be defective!

I 100% would go with Karin Markers. Mine have lasted me forever and there are so many more things you can do with them! They are worth the money!

These are not permanent, they will bleed with water. They react similar to watercolor.

It's not recommended to store them horizontally, only their metallic pens are made to me stored horizontally.
