I know many people think that Babymetal don't sing live. This is wrong. Lead vocals and quite a lot of backing vocals are performed live.

The thing is that before recording on Blu-ray, vocal is post-corrected, so you won't hear the wrong note on Blu-ray. However, this can be heard sometimes on fancams and in the audience.

Correction, mix and mastering is done LIVE on ACTIVE VOCALS, therefore the only way this correction COULD EVER EVEN HAPPEN IN THIS CASE IS IF THEY SIIIIING LIIIIIIIIIIIVE.....

I think it is monocrome in 2023 you can hear a wrong note during a humming section when she was distracted during a "fan" section.
That is the only "obvious" wrong note but that just shows how skilled they are!
Like a lot of bands, Babymetal make use of click tracks. These can provide additional music accompaniments or additional vocal layers. You just have to look at the last 20 seconds of the song where Su is simulating eating chocolate to see that she is not singing. She does however sing the verses and chorus live. This is understandable given the dance routines can tire out a vocalist. There have been other recent performances of Su where i've noticed she often drops pitch on the last note of a verse, almost tired sounding, when singing live It's all good, as I always prefer an imperfect live performance to lip-synching. Live singing will usually have a brighter almost more breathy tone to it than pre-recorded vocals. At the end of the day, Su is very capable as a vocalist when she is singing live, and that's what matters, but don't pretend for a second that it is all 100% live.

Metal doesnt havent to be about high fantasy demons and devils and violence and frankly childishly scaring grannies. Its orchestral, high skilled, glorious and LOUD. I do want chocolate and dancing and a bloody brilliant headbanging dancetastic pageant of metal.
Su is just flat out amazing.
This will never get old. It's going to be like "Panama", or "War Pigs"-it will still be around 100 years from now.
It was old the first time I saw it in 2021, after being blown away by Catch me if You Can with Mikio Fujioka on guitar-had no idea of what I was watching-and figured John 5 was behind it.
This led to discovering NINGEN ISU, then Band Maid.
What I found out about Japanese metal is, it doesn't take itself seriously. It's fun first and foremost, and with Baby Metal, you have Hello Kitty chasing you around with a chainsaw.
And the world is a better place for it.

I only just discovered Babymetal less than a month ago and have digested their discography a few times over now. Its truly insane how much talent each one of them have, but special shout out to Su who has the most commanding presence of any performer ive ever seen. Doesnt hurt she cute as hell 😊 i can gladly say they have skyrocketed to one of my favorite artists period

Added every song I could find to my playlist "Audio Energy Drink," and still looking for more. (feat. Tom Morello).... Sign. Me. Up. (And maybe it's because I've had too much chocolate tonight, but you can't change my mind.) 😍

@@peitodefrango they really did, Kami doesn't feel like Kami band at all without them not to mention Hideki's drum grooves are way better for me than Anthony, don't get me wrong he's good but sometimes his fast grooves don't fit or maybe I'm just too used with how the east sounds like🤷♂️

Most Japanese idols last only a few years.
It's very impressive that they are still performing in front of thousands of people.
They were never really idols in the real sense. Babymetal were originally focused on music rather than idol culture.
And over the years they grew even more distant from it.
Saying that they are idols is like calling all western performers idols.
Yes, Babymetal was essentially created by their producer Koba. But children's bands are not created in any other way in any country. Children must be supervised by an adult.
In any case, the term idol connotes a certain ideology of attracting people with looks and sexuality, which Babymetal have never done. (attracting attention in this way was not their intention)

Crazy thing is, give me chocolate is originally a phrase that Japanese kids picked up just after the War, I guess the American servicemen stationed there had a habit of giving chocolate to the Japanese kids. Even now it's a phrase that everyone in Japan knows.

She changes the way she sings depending on the songs. She always sounds a little childish singing songs like GC or Iine. Just listen to GC and BMC from a particular show. You will see how different she sounds.

Lead vocal (and sometimes back vocals) are live.
But they fix sound for DVD/B-RAYs. If u listen to fancams u will hear sound not so precise as blu-ray audio.
Thats why its sound "too good for live". Real sound in the hall is not so great. But its good enough most of the time.

Not sure I understand the fascination. I JUST learned of them yesterday and have been watching some videos, and all I see is great musicians, and 3 female "vocalists", but one actually singing while the other 2 dancing along. I saw one video where the audience participation was off the charts, but I'm not sure what why they seem so liked.
Initially, I was attracted by the unusual combination of children's vocals and metal (These girls started performing at the age of 11-13). And then I liked the music itself.
This seems like combining Slip Knot songs with a sitcom TV show theme song. I don't know what to make of it. Is THIS the future of music?
