I swear to christ, these guides are amazing, I found you through the 4.3 guides preach and you turned me into a good player, now it's like 8 years later and I'm comfortable saying that I've been playing to an extremely high standard thanks to you for years, that said that doesn't change that I like to watch these vids anyways, just to see how a class could be played. It pisses me off that you get people who play to a higher standard than a new player (or at least claim they do) come to the video just to shit on you and new players for using any other builds than then very very highest ones on mythic fights - they seem to completely ignore this a guide for a new player, teaching them how the class works to begin with, explaining all the talents, not just a guide that tells you how to do the best logs or some shit - it's the shittiest form of elitism and those people need to fuck off

The bracers were actually the first leggo I got (Got it from ToV LFR) my second is a ring that lets me use TimeWarp without being debuffed so I have to wait ten minutes before using it again (can't remember the name of the ring now). Recently got leggo pants for arcane to drop as well from the cache you get from contributing Legionfall supplies.
First off since preach didnt bring it up - if youre a mythic raider, fire is only really able to perform abit better then frost on such boss as demonic and avatar. Youd also want to get as little crit as possible if you go 2set T19 and legos: fire bracer with belt and firestarter. Good guide~

? its pretty much the same but without double ice lance. Since they nerfed GS most people defaulted back to TV. I'd say the biggest change i made was my opener. With 4 set that is: I chose to precast FB> FO> dump procs> ebonbolt combo> shimmerlance. Everything else is the same. You can still precast with Ebonbolt but you lose the CD reduction from your 4 piece but also ebonbbolt opener is great if you get good rng. I prefer consistency so I chose to the new new opener with precast FB. you can still shimmerlance but yeah the days of double IL is rip. :(

Tomb of Awareness. Not just soaks, but every boss has mechs the entire raid needs to pay attention to. Tunneling in Tomb is something you just can't do, so pay attention and be ready!
I main mage in a mythic raiding guild. Just started playing Fire again because RNG in Frost has been driving me fucking crazy. You should do a video talking about what specs you find the most fun for every class.
Regarding stats: It's true that it is nontrivial to decide what secondary stats to go for. If you only play one spec. If you are playing multiple specs, e.g. Frost on single target and cleave; Fire on AOE, it is imho a lot simpler. Do you only want to use one set of gear? Then crit+haste is good for both specs. Are you ok with gathering two sets? Then mastery+crit for Fire since mastery is so good on AOE.

As someone that plays fire I don't know if I agree with the 60% Crit claim. Not only is it difficult to achieve but Crit stopped coming simming as my heaviest stat 39-40%. Right now mastery is weighted much much heavier.
Yeah I talked to some other fire mages and they had the proper explanation as to why crit fell off. I really think Preach needs to start teaching people to use simcraft and raidbots to get their own stat weights.
Yes, but that's probably because you have some set bonus " like the t19 2 set " and/or certain legendaries that alter your sims desire for you to have crit. But, you are right. Even as a Mage starting out without the 2 set, reaching 60% crit is highly unlikely and most likely going to be too much. Anything around 50% should feel just fine for the rotation.
@Preach Gaming: I have been raiding every tier this expansion on mythic difficulty getting all of the cutting edge achievements for all of them. After the nerf to fire I was completely forced into frost because after months of farming legendaries I never got bracers OR belt, and by the time m-krosus needed to die I had to hard swap into frost. After farming Frost bis legendaries for months until I finally get bracers + lust ring (my last 2 damn legendaries for frost) tomb gets released. Now after some time has passed for mythic tomb where there are 2 fights where it seems immensely important to play fire in, Any advice on a desperate mage trying to do mythic tos progression without fire bracers? (demonic inq + avatar) This whole legendary situation has been a complete annoyance from start to finish. (929 ilvl mage)

Don't listen to any people saying that some stat is superior on fire...fire's stat weights are extremely dynamic and depend A LOT on your gear, legendaries and talents. This guide is outdated and you should ALWAYS sim your own stat weights as they change a lot depending on what you have and what kind of fight you will be in. Rather go check the mage discord and altered-time as they are the most reliable sources of information created by a huge community with a lot of theory-crafters and long time mage players. This guy doesn't have a clue

He told you everything you needed to know regarding Fire without the bracers. Unfortunately, if you do not have the legendary bracers the likely hood that you will be competitive in single target is near impossible. Ever since Emerald Nightmare I always performed much better as Frost without a single Frost legendary even though I had the bracers, so not having them should be even worse. You should be simming your character to find the right breakpoints to fit whichever legendaries you have and which tier set bonuses you have. All in all, there won't be any major talent choices you would be changing just because you don't have the bracers. You only use Firestarter when you can get multiple rotations of fireball/pyro before the boss drops below 90%. Mirror Images is the only one you use for pure single target unless you have to move an assload, which you really shouldn't for anything below Mythic content. Meteor will almost always be superior in single target unless the fight goes for a considerable amount of time to make use of multiple extra uses of Combustion, even then it won't be a major increase. For AoE situations, you have to choose between Living Bomb or Flame Patch. Generally speaking, add type fights like Skorp will favor living bomb for short burst windows with 5+ adds. Flame Patch wins out when you can hit more than 3-4 targets consistently, where they don't move too much for the patch to do its work.
Preach, is your Crit chance more of a personal thing? Because I used to max stat crit, but when i started to let go of crit and sit between 45-50% for haste my dps went up significantly. Is the just coincidence, should I be getting crit chance up again?
Sims suggest running crit as low as possible. RoP or IF do not care about which legendaries you have, you can even use MI if you prefer. RoP and IF only become better than MI once you have either the t20 4p set bonus or the owl trinket.
Jesse Kunz yah I have Main fire mage for 3 years now & I’ve never past 53%, and I stacked it. like Enchants, Gems, I tried to get best crit gear & trinks. it’s hard to get 60%+

While I understand wanting to teach players how to play around the legendary bracers, simply because they almost define the spec, most mages simply don't have these, and it's not even like they can control this! Those who haven't gotten lucky with that drop simply can't use this guide for much at all. You really should cover other alternatives. Please revisit this.

after watching this video I went and ran some dungeons as fire. felt like I did no damage on boss fights. Maybe I was just doing the rotation wrong, or does fire just not do much ST dps?

taking damage with an immune/99% dmg reduction spell that would normally hit the entire raid if not taken by 1or more people, if only 1 goes the dmg is usually to high and would kill him if not for the dmg reduction or imunity
I don't understand how fire starter is better in more difficult content when it should be about a 1:9 ratio of having it or not ignoring hero timings/executes not to mention in difficult content a lot of bosses die slower at low hp because of dead team members. Is there something I'm missing or are you instead saying its better on more difficult content because it will survive the burst of hero and cool downs that can take the initial 10% and is more useful outside of that burst. Also not trying to flame or anything just trying to understand it from a fundamental perspective because I don't play a fire mage anyways.
The more hp your target has, the longer it stays above 90% hp so the more valuable Firestarter becomes. The other 2 talents are garbage for ST so getting more uptime out of FS is insanely good.
The talent works when the mob is above 90% health i.e. at the start of a fight. Higher difficulty = more health = longer time above 90% = higher uptime of talent. In LFR for example a boss will lose the first 10% within a few seconds making the talent pointless.
As a fire main I highly suggest not putting your eggs in the fire basket. Not only is it very difficult to play consistently in tomb, it's single target just doesn't hold up to frost. My guild runs 2 fire mages and we both got sat on maiden this week even though we were doing pretty well. If both of us had been frost our damage would most likely been enough to keep us in. Fire is not straightforward and is all about not starving yourself of ignites.

I wish these guides concentrated more on the dps rotation. I find they all just gloss over the rotation as though we're all very skilled players and just need to know what the main goal is. I'm horrible.. and I need more explaining. Talk slower, and explain why you're casting each spell and what choice you made before you cast it. I realize a lot of people don't need this, but honestly, most of the people who need to watch guides are people who are just terrible at their rotation. I want a 20 minute guide on rotation. I can look at talents and gear on icy-veins..

I like firestarter for many bosses during prog it's like having a long combustion before ur combustion ^^

Firestarter is what devalues crit so much even without any legendaries and in 860 gear, you probably still want as close to 25% crit as possible.

Ben Zahler terror + owl is where it's at. Or a lucky relinquished arcano. Unless you get like a 930 whispers

I suggest staying frost. Fire is great but switching from fire to either of the other specs is very difficult.
Arcane performs really well if you know how to play it and the fight mechanics to time things to perfection.

The general consensus is that it's the worst stat for fire right now depending on talents/legendaries.

taking damage with an immune/99% dmg reduction spell that would normally hit the entire raid if not taken by 1or more people, if only 1 goes the dmg is usually to high and would kill him if not for the dmg reduction or imunity

I don't understand how fire starter is better in more difficult content when it should be about a 1:9 ratio of having it or not ignoring hero timings/executes not to mention in difficult content a lot of bosses die slower at low hp because of dead team members. Is there something I'm missing or are you instead saying its better on more difficult content because it will survive the burst of hero and cool downs that can take the initial 10% and is more useful outside of that burst. Also not trying to flame or anything just trying to understand it from a fundamental perspective because I don't play a fire mage anyways.
The more hp your target has, the longer it stays above 90% hp so the more valuable Firestarter becomes. The other 2 talents are garbage for ST so getting more uptime out of FS is insanely good.
The talent works when the mob is above 90% health i.e. at the start of a fight. Higher difficulty = more health = longer time above 90% = higher uptime of talent. In LFR for example a boss will lose the first 10% within a few seconds making the talent pointless.

As a fire main I highly suggest not putting your eggs in the fire basket. Not only is it very difficult to play consistently in tomb, it's single target just doesn't hold up to frost. My guild runs 2 fire mages and we both got sat on maiden this week even though we were doing pretty well. If both of us had been frost our damage would most likely been enough to keep us in. Fire is not straightforward and is all about not starving yourself of ignites.

I wish these guides concentrated more on the dps rotation. I find they all just gloss over the rotation as though we're all very skilled players and just need to know what the main goal is. I'm horrible.. and I need more explaining. Talk slower, and explain why you're casting each spell and what choice you made before you cast it. I realize a lot of people don't need this, but honestly, most of the people who need to watch guides are people who are just terrible at their rotation. I want a 20 minute guide on rotation. I can look at talents and gear on icy-veins..
