    That fabric is too cute and just perfect for the pattern. Adorable!

    Love the dress on you! That fabric is awesome. Agree about the bias binding- I hate doing it and I don't like facings either. I would line the bodice in a light batiste and have it look smooth and plain all around the neckline and armholes.

    I'm so glad I saw this because I bought the pattern. I was holding off making it until a little later in the summer, or if we ever go back to the office. I really liked the long sleeved version.

    Super cute. I’ve looked at this pattern lots but have never purchased. Adorable in sleeveless version. Never once occurred to me that topstitching bias armholes and necks looks sportier. Never! I detest facings and avoid them unless I have no choice.

    Pockets are getting to be important to me. I hate carrying a purse! I've made this pattern before but I think I'd like to do it again. Previously I used a lightweight poly woven that I grabbed from Hobby Lobby. But I like the sateen on you - I think this would be really cute in even just a quilting cotton. I made the maxi but the shorter version looks so cute on you I may try that. The back of this dress is what really makes it - the way it dips down and fits is so pretty. That with the pockets makes it winner in my book! ❤️
    p.s. Anti-waistliners unite ✊

    Cute cute cute. I made this dress and the bodice was perfect. Length was fine for me. I'm 5'2". I'll definitely make another dress from this pattern. Thank you for your videos as they are always inspiring. It's very interesting to see how different fabrics look on a patttern. The bias tape looks perfect on this dress. Personally I would use bias on everything vs facings.

  • @sarah4264

    I love this little dress! Cotton sateen is one of my favorite fabrics to wear in the summer. Honestly, I feel facings are still a preference for me. Bias bindings seem like they would be quicker and might be for some people. I just think a longer facing gives the garmet a high end professional appearance. But, to each his own.

    So cute! I agree about the top stitching, but I'm learning to like it more than I used to. And the no floppy pockets stance: Absolutely!! My next venture is to put pockets in a brand new RTW jean jacket. Yes, with alllll those front seams, there are no pockets. Figuring it out but will probably need to resort to inside pockets only. Oh well, lesson learned.

    Very cute Lindsey:) I dislike floppy pockets also, so I don’t usually add them. I liked your method of sewing them into the waist seam, they look much better that way:)

    I really like the dress. And like you I don't like using bias tape to finish off necklines and arm holes. But that seems to be popular right now.

    I love the fabric choice of cotton sateen. I do like the print also. If I were to make this dress, I would definitely line the top. I very thin cotton lawn would work just fine and keep the dress cool. Also, a nice day to film your review.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m thinking of using a voile next time. Also, it’s so hard to find good days to film anymore. Either it’s too sunny or raining. So I gotta siege the moment on these in the middle days. I’m trying to decorate my patio to get more used space. If it comes together like how I have in my head I’ll be able to film outside any day I want.

    I started to make this and came to see what people are saying about it. And what do you know - you have made it and reviewed it! The envelope tells me I should make size 16, while I'm normally 10-12. Was it way oversized or have they adjusted their sizing, everybody?

    • @InsidetheHem

    I could see what you were talking about the sporty look, when you did the close up of the armhole. Love your review and love the dress. Your fabric looked very flowy for a cotton sateen, I think I might choose a lighter weight cotton for me since I live in sw Florida. Just what I've been looking for.

  • @rosiethornock4794
    @rosiethornock4794 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it really gathered? It looks for all the world like pleats, both on the pattern drawings, sample, and your make. Also, I TOTALLY agree with you on the top stitching. There are some garments/ fabrics where top stitching just looks out of place. I usually avoid the whole facing or other neck edge finish by lining the bodice. I just usually find it a quick and easy work around
