  • In this video, I will talk about Piqué Turns - which has a very distinctive and sharp movement.
    One thing to keep in mind when doing Piqué Turns is that the supporting should not bend during the execution.
    In addition, you must begin this step in the Efface Devant position, with the arm and leg in a one-dimensional line.
    Watch till the end for more thorough tips!

    I found you on TH-cam. Im an older dancer and balance is more of a problem,,,especially in turns,,,not sure if I can retrain myself if it might be an inner ear problem of aging but I love your teaching methods, Thank you.

    Fantastic explanation, many teachers I’ve encountered introduce the turns going towards the opposite wall-facing sideways (mirror). Having children tendu to second & piqué onto demi (opposed to keeping the body square). Three things become habit: falling over supporting leg, not holding centre/falling back, or not completing the turn.
    I’ve never understood why teachers oppose alternative methods to achieving the same result which benefits the students long-term.

    Absolutely agree. I teach different syllabuses and different schools I can only suggest them to turn with traveling forward instead of sideway. This video help me give better cue to teach better. I have a question here, what do you think of some people using round arm for preparation instead of arabesque arm ? Many appreciate for your sharing.

      Thank you for your time watching my video. To your question, yes, some teachers teach round arms and the hands in first and second position in preparation. In my opinion, this position loose the coordination and the energy produced by bringing the hands into the first position from a palms down position. The energy of hands coming in should be coordinated with the legs’ energy. Again, in my opinion, the round arms position doesn’t produce the same speed and energy. Thank you again, I hope this explanation helps.

    I'm a very beginner. So I have a unprofessional question.
    I have watched the chaine workshop video of yours.
    And you explain about the head position quite importantly.
    So should I move and turn my head as same as the chaine?
    Thanks.

    No dancer on stage, executes tour piqué by facing the direction is traveling to, they all move to the side. With the correct technique is just as easy. It sounds dogmatic to find the decoté tour piqué wrong.On the contrary,tour piqué gives more authority to the dancer by using the corner of the eye!

    • @noopy99
      @noopy99 ปีที่แล้ว
