Funny enough, few weeks ago, I was reading about Toriyama amd found out something interesting. Apparently, when he created Frieza's iconic Final Form we all know, it was inspired by the imaginary monsters he use to see when he was a little kid.
The fact Toriyama did this not only to view Frieza in a certain way but also that he took something so personal and intimate from his life and applied it to "Dragon Ball" shows how much his work meant to him.
He truly was an amazing man. May he rest in peace.

I been watching the filler episodes of the show. They are absolutely brilliant, unique, and fascinating! Dragon ball is very original and special! I do love the sequel series a lot but Dragon ball is just incredible!

The goku and piccolo learning to drive was my favorite filler episode from the androids saga but my favorite from the saiyan saga was when kid Gohan was with the kids evading from adults forcing them to an orphanage. Honestly that episode maybe my favorite filler from Z cause of the specialty that episode had. I wish there were more to that episode or a sequel to it but it’s definitely good in my opinion. When Vegeta and Nappa went to the bug planet was good too that’s for sure!
It's kind of crazy looking back at Dragon Ball's influence. Toriyama created an avenue that allowed Japanese pop culture to prosper in the West that properties like Astro Boy, Speed Racer and to some extent, Godzilla struggled to accomplish. By the time the 1990s came around, the rise of Dragon Ball essentially gave Toonami the platform they needed to bring over multiple animes and it only kept growing over time.
Toriyama was more than dragon ball even more in japan.
I don't see dragon ball as a way to export Japanese culture outside, but a way to create global culture, a common story that we all loved. And he succeeded at that. I don't remember a world figure that has received such a global acclaim after his death.
I don't know in other places around the world, but in Latin America people gathered to make Genkidamas last Sunday, it was beautiful.
Dragon ball gets far too much credit for popularizing anime. Its popular but it didnt pave the way for anime in the slightest, it just came through.

I remember when Dragon Quest 8 came out I saw your name in the credits and your character and monsters designs were pretty amazing and I was blown away by it. I’ve played Dragon Quest and I knew when I saw your name, I was very happy to see it. Died I was really sad when I heard about his death in 2022 both of them move forever be gone, but not forgotten. Stan Lee buy Work and talent...he create so many characters but mostly he not draw of development the character it was made by multiple Artists Author... Akira Toriyama doing almost all those things including the concept and character design..the Original Spiderman is difference than Current one...some goes to Superman they multiple artists development and design it.. so by that logic Akira Toriyama above them

Kudos for adding Tobal No.1! Was my first PSone game I actually was not scared of playing because of the familiar looking Charakters I knew from Dragon Ball. I wish they'd release a remaster of 1+2 since the second one was never released outside of Japan.

Ever since his death I've been feeling down. Not just because of the death of such an influential childhood figure, but because I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I'm not that young child anymore. The days are long, but the years are short. Now I'll watch my son grow as his resemblance to myself as a child fills me with nostalgia of the days full of bliss.

I remember first seeing dragon quest and dragon warrior a retitle at different stores. I knew it was somehow a toriyama creation. And was excited after picking up the games on both 3ds and modern consoles.

I'm not a DragonBall fan, but even I cam respect this man's contributions to media. Without him, anime and video games may not be the same as we know them today.
Not just our childhoods, this man is shaping many of our adulthoods as well. Always striving to do better, facing problems with all our might, training our body, healthy masculinity and a good mentality. Vegeta's pride and loyalty, Goku's morality and character,Gohan's gentleness, they all shaped me into what I am today.
