I don't think that's what she means by purpose. Her purpose. It meant he basically took everything she was meant to do. For example, a pastor would tell you his purpose in life is to spread the word of Jesus. The song is about Justin, but that lyric has nothing to do with Justin's album lol. Maybe to her her purpose was to make the world better, but he distracted her from that.

As a selena gomez fan myself, i can tell you that i was SHOCKED when i heard her vocals. She improved A LOT

@Messy yeah I know and Selena Gomez uses so much autotune to fix a lot on her voice that's why she really doesn't sound like this live. You can even here it in the sound how heavily it was autotune. Not hating on her though I'm a fan just telling you facts.
Selena Gomez is actually a terrible singer. She’s a better actress than a singer. However, her songs are catchy thanks to her songwriters. I like her, don’t get me wrong. But objectively, all feelings aside, she doesn’t sing good at all.

Lmao then that was my mistake, admittedly. Thanks for clarifying so rudely? As if you made an important point, which you didn’t. My comment and opinion still stands. She’s not a great live singer, but she has a lot of emotion that she puts into her songs. She’s known for lip syncing live almost always, if not always, but that’s not the point. This is a great song- I just wanted to say this because of the commentator’s comment. It’s what I felt for a long time and still feel now, but this is probably not the place to give an objective view on her singing seeing as how many of her fans are going to emotionally defend her.
@Messy clearly you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about even a lot of vocal coach says and watch her videos says she used too much autotune and she sound different than her real voice. That's why she sings breathy and whispery live because she doesn't sound like what she sounds on the studio version that's has been edited too much.
Its totally about Justin. She moved on to the Weeknd, then Justin came back so she went back to him. Then he broke up with her (I think?), and starting dating Hailey, and got engaged within two months or something cray. This is her saying she's moving on. FINNEAS produced this track and they shot the whole thing on an iphone, it's amazing. She looks and sounds healthy and in a much better place. Great reaction video :) i was waiting for it

This is definitely about Justin. She dated him in 2011-2012 and then they broke up, and back again in 2013-2015 and they broke up again. Then back together again in 2018 and they broke up for the last time. And he easily date Hayley and got engaged. It just about 2 months later. But so many prove that Justin already cheated from her a couple times.

I could go on but, the biggest thing about this song, #1 Billboard, she wrote this TWO YEARS AGO! And in an interview, said that she didn't wanna intrude on anyone's ....(justin &Hailey) new love/ life, the engagement, their wedding, honeymoon, and yes, 2nd wedding, so to me that speaks volumes on her maturity and respect level for sure! I just wanted to say I am happy she's now good. And though I shipped them together this on and off thing in their relationship wasn't good for both of them.. Especially for Selena cause she really loved him..she went through so many bad things for him ..and her health went down. got affected by him in many ways....so its good this thing its over.
