    Really chuffed for you mate. In the old days this would have sparked jealousy, but I'm just excited for you. That's some nice optics. Now do us proud with some nice images and enjoy taking them!

    I forgot to say congratulations. Man what a beautiful thing. It’s like a finely made katana. My wife is Japanese and I’ve been dying to get back to Japan to go visit where Hoya glass is manufactured.

      Hey thanks Garnett, I hope you get back there soon! They certainly know how to craft a scope; have you seen this video? th-cam.com/video/BC0dBh53dyI/w-d-xo.html I've also been drawn to the Japanese culture since I started studying Karate age 6. Clear skies!

    Takahashi telescopes just ooze quality of design and build, and you get your certificate of manufacture packed separately too. Hope you have many hours of great observing with your Tak 100 DC Apochromatic refractor. I have the little FOA-60 Takahashi, which is my grab and go on a purely manual mount, for very portable, fast, non-fiddly, observing. I was recently observing M13, and the view was razor sharp, pinpoint stars, and surprisingly bright for such a small aperture, but that’s what you get with a true Apochromatic refractor.

    • @AstroLaVista
      @AstroLaVista  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ooh you have the FOA 60, very nice! I've heard the optical quality per aperture is unbeatable with the 1.7x extender taking the scope up to f/15.

      Thanks Ryan! Hopefully very soon! I set my alarm for 2am this morning to try and catch Saturn low down in the south, but it was of course cloudy. I may be paying the cloud gods for a while with this purchase :D

      Thanks so much Luke! I'm biting at the bit for first light, and would love it to be Saturn in the early morning sky, or the Moon. No luck yet as I'm of course paying the cloud gods (and the rain gods), so twiddling my bendy thumbs in the meantime :D

    I would always opt for the clamshell, but hey, stunning scope! Grass is Greener syndrome makes me a little envious of the 6x30 finder. Can’t help but wonder “was that the better one?”😅
    Well done!
    I’ll catch up now on your more recent videos. See how the Tak’s going 🔭

    Got a celestron az 102.
    Does 95% of what this Tak does, and cost (used) was 2.6% of the Tak.
    I wonder if i could see a difference.
    But, I STILL WANT THAT TAK!

    • @AstroLaVista
      @AstroLaVista  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Likewise, owned various Synta (Sky-Watcher/Celestron) ED100 f/9 refractors over the years, and always wondered about the extra bit of Tak performance. I should find out soon enough!

      Hey thanks! I've been doing some low key eyepiece testing for potential product lines; looking at some zoom eyepieces currently. I'm not sure I can go on camera with those, however, the Tak has inspired me to buy better eyepieces which I will be up for reviewing :)

  • @TevisC

    Congrats on a new scope.
    Don't take this comment as a downer, just perspective of your audience. :)
    I'm not sure how I feel about Takahashi scopes.
    Other scopes match performance for fraction of price.
    Difficult to adapt for auto focus.
    Expensive flatteners - focal reducers.
    This as a doublet can't really be speed up with focal reducers as ca will start getting noticable in imaging at or faster than f6.
    I'm real disappointed in that packaging. Would have thought they would have used shaped soft foam.

    • @AstroLaVista
      @AstroLaVista  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tevis, I've enjoyed viewing and imaging with the Tak so far. There is an affordable adapter plate to attach the ZWO EAF here: www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-accessories/zwo-eaf-bracket-for-sky-watcher-esprit-takahashi-vixen-vc200l/ref/astrolavista/ Thankfully I don't need a flattener with my little ZWO ASI585mc camera as the Tak 100dc optics are quite flat. I've had few of the Synta Sky-Watcher/Celestron ED100 f/9 over the years which are supposed to perform 90% as well and I can see that. I would say the Tak image is more neutral/pure, less of a yellow tinge to the image but there is very little difference in terms of CA between the more expensive Tak and the more affordable ED100 f/9 although they are longer scopes, the Tak is very light and compact. Having star tested the Tak it has a better figured lens, neither under or over corrected. The Synta ED100 I've owned at least have shown differences in Fresnel ring definition either intra or extra focus. Having said this the Tak does cost a lot more so your paying for an advantage that will only show when the seeing is good. I was going to go for the more affordable Starfield 102ED which performs nearly as well although heavier, but I did get a great deal on the Tak so I went for it and have no regrets so far thankfully as it was still a lot of money.. I like the triple boxing but a case would have been nice considering the cost :)

      @AstroLaVista I'm actually a pretty neat handwriter, I used to be able to bend my fingers all the way back too. Some call it double jointed I think, but that is a fallacy - the joints are just 'hyper-extendable'

    You should use that proper box cutter,, With a pair of scissors if you slip and go to the you could damage some of your equipment.
