I just hate to set extreme high expectations and then be dissapointed after waiting 6-12 months for grading. If I expect a 9, but it gets a 10 great! if I expect a 9 and get a 9, still all good :)

Believe it or not, if you “invested” $10k in 1986-87 Fleer wax packs/boxes/cases (fun to collect and trade, yes, but hardly considered an investment at the time), you’d have been able to buy about 650-700 boxes (depending on sales tax rate and packs at either $0.35 or $0.40). At around $70-$80k per box, that’s now worth roughly $50,000,000! That is, if you could keep 50+ cases in good condition for 34 years.
Microsoft stock would’ve been $.10 per share, after adjusting for all its splits (based on its $25.50 IPO price), so the same $10k investment, with dividends reinvested, would “only” be worth around $33,000,000 (if you didn’t sell until its now all-time high, when it was making new ATH for around half of the last 34 years!)

Corners dented at the factory. Literal cardboard was used up until the late 90's. And you can't compare baseball cards to Pokemon. Both myself and the shop owner didn't even belive it lol. They went carefully into protection in the store, yet to grade but I'm sure they easily should be 9, 9.5 or 10's.

We asked him the origins of the box, when he acquired it, how he knows it hadn’t been tampered with, etc. He said he bought it in 1988 and owned it the whole time through, he actually had a sealed case from 1988 originally, broke it up a while back and was selling the remaining boxes. His story felt complete. He aIso had very good seller feedback including for selling similar boxes.

I have to say that having collected cards in the late 80s up to about '91...the authenticity of the hobby has gone out the window. It is no longer about the fun and excitement of collecting and talking about your favorite players; it is about the value. I have a folder of all Ozzie Smith and Vince Coleman cards because I loved the Cardinals. I also had a folder of all the Mike Schmidt cards I could get my hands on as a teenager (never could get his rookie card). These folders have no value in today's market because they are not inserts, have manufactured rarity or are graded...but they represent great players that I used to watch and root for

    • @elonmusket6178

Exactly! I was born in ‘81 and collected through the early-mid 90’s. For me I was always looking for Shaq rookies and love the excitement of pulling them. I have a collection of all his rookies and rookie inserts. They’re not worth much but to me it’s the joy of collecting the players you were into!

Love your videos. But have to say, it's interesting that you both wore gloves to protect the well being of the cards, but didn't try and sit at least 6 feet apart or wear face coverings to protect the well being of yourselves from each other. Good luck w/your PSA submissions, be well and looking forward to your future videos.
