Physical Weathering Processes

- At this point we know a lot about how rocks form, but now we need to understand precisely how they are weathered. Weathering describes the forces and conditions that break down rocks that are exposed at the surface into smaller fragments. This can occur via physical weathering or chemical weathering. Let's look at physical weathering first!

It’s pretty fascinating how all these processes work together to shape the geography of Earth we see today
Fascinating series Prof Dave!
these short videos are a great way to start the day! warm up on old knowledge i may have forgot and learn new things! sets the right attitude
I was at Bryce Canyon two weeks ago, it's mind blowing how beautiful it is.
I'm so thrilled I happened upon your channel. It is absolutely fascinating and wonderful. Breaking down complex things into bite size chunks is a talent that you exemplify! I'm a touring musician who has a lot of downtime on the road....I grew tired of movies and such years ago and got into documentaries. Im not a college graduate, im not an expert on anything. (except for wisdom gained through age)....but I have an unquenchable curiosity for our world...and I like the way you explain it. Thanks for the engaging and fantastic content. Brilliant work and presentation Dave. I subscribed!
Thanks kindly, check out my music too!
i certainly will....@@ProfessorDaveExplains
Your videos make me think about this process - everywhere I go - I am looking at the world in a different way than I used to - It's a marvelous thing you gave us -
I love this channel, thanks for your hard work.
very interesting. I did wonder why the rocks looked like that, when I was travelling on the highway and looking out. Thanks!
Freezing water can apply up to 1 kilobar of pressure! Holy smokes! I knew it was a lot, but didn't realize it could be 15,000 psi. That's insane! Professor Dave, is that pressure indirectly measured with some kind of strain gauge, or is there some other instrument?
Crisp and simple 🌟
Hey Dave are you considering making a video about Stephen Meyers on Joe Rogan? Would love to see your reaction lol
Hi Professor Dave. Huge fan. Have you managed to look at in-vivo gene editing at all using CAS9. There is a lot of noise out there and it’s not clear how this works in mammals such as humans. Apparently, it’s been done successfully. How does this work?
I have a video on that in my biology series.
Will you talk about the natural formation of soil?
Don’t know if you’re getting paid or this section subsidized but your Chem/phys/ hum bio/ math basically all your other topic series were more viewed and appreciated
Ya man these new vids seem way too nuanced and directed towards like high school and middle school geology and economics enthusiasts and …boring. You should make vids for people who don’t have time to slow down their learning for others
@@bugsbunny852 I have no idea what you mean, my format has not changed, I'm just always expanding into new topics. Currently geology and economics are two of those topics. There is not change in the target demographic, high school and early undergraduates.
❤❤❤
Question if you see this I have been taught about biological weathering could I know why it wasn’t in the video
Oh yeah, well how do you exlain The Rock?
Checkmate, scientist.
Weathering is one of my favorite things
Thanks
My physical science teacher uses your videos
I remember creationists saying rock fractures are actually trees that were described in the bible lmfaooo
Professor Dave is the type of guy that wakes up his whole family to tell them he’s going to bed.
This is the dumbest comment on the internet.
@@ProfessorDaveExplains LOL! Slight hyperbole, maybe. I've seen a flat earth comment or two that might be slightly less thought out, but hilarious all the same.
@@ProfessorDaveExplains hahahahaha
Where did you get that 🤣
Isn’t weathering divided also into Biological weathering?
Wrong, mountains are caused by buoyancy. Less buoyant rock sinks pushing up less buoyant rock.😂
what
👍🙂
Don christie ?
Hey friend, would like your input on the happenings going on in your neck of the woods, I’m truly interested 😊
@@donchristie420 my friend, all good. You know, working coming back home and see if there's some new releases of Prof. Dave. How about you ?
¿¿¿What did I just read???

Could do videos debunking Ben Shapiro.
Probably not within Daves scope s8nce he's focused primarily on science.
👍💥
Dave I know you have dealt with Ben Davidson before, but his cult is growing and he still doesn't know what he's talking about. worth a second look?
