I don't know what it is, maybe it's because our 4 legged fur children are such pure souls, so loyal and dependable, that it's just a punch in the gut when we lose them. Maybe that's why God doesn't let 'em stay around on this Earthly plain as long us flawed humans, he has something greater in store for them. Know this though, I volunteer with a dog rescue group that combats, and advocates against, puppy mills, there's a lot of pups out there that never find their forever home, and if you guys are half as genuine and kind hearted as you seem to be, you gave King a rich, full happy life, no matter how long you had him, trust me, he was lucky to have you two. Condolences on your Dog. Man, I know it ain't easy, but you can do it. My husband is barely 2 weeks without alcohol after drinking daily for our entire 12 year marriage. I got sober last year and never looked back. I've stayed by his side and patiently waited for him to be ready to give it up (he was ready, just unable to for a long time). He said the first week was the hardest. Sobriety is possible! "It's either one day... or day one!"
I know what it is to laose a pup man. I had to make the decision when I wasn't even prepared to that day. Fkd me up for a min thinking who am I to decide a life. Hardest decision I've ever had to make! Much love to you and the fam man!! Great reaction!
Yeah I had to do that a couple years ago with a pup, it's a tough call, props to you for making a tough decision, I see a lot of people that are so scared of losing them, they pay for all kinds of treatments and long shots, and the poor doggie just isn't living a comfortable life anymore. I am a 71 yr old alcoholic from Scotland. PLEASE look at what you're doing to your beautiful partner. Over 30 yrs ago my wife had had enough and threw me out. I was devastated, but deep down I knew that I only had myself to blame. After I had been sober for six months straight, she decided to give me one last chance. I punished myself every day of those six long months but the love I had for my wife and two young sons was strong enough to pull me out of the deep abyss I had allowed myself to fall into. I've not touched a drop since that day we got together over 30 years ago and life couldn't be better. Stay strong my friend, you've stopped before, but please do NOT fall into the trap of believing that she'll continue to forgive you, because if you do carry on, at some point you WILL LOSE HER and I know that's not what you want. I'm not one to comment often, but first, as a guy who recently lost one of the most amazing dogs ever, I give my sincere condolences.... second, as a guy who was a touring musician and bartender, yet somehow got sober, and stayed that way for 5 years now, with zero plans of ever going back, I recommend one simple little book called The Easy Way to Control Alcohol, by Allen Carr. It allowed me, and many of my friends who followed suit, to walk away easily. Good luck to you. You absolutely can do it, if you truly want to.
