    Mihai, Stefan and Corvinus were rulers during the middle ages. Mihai the Brave was the first unifier of the three Romanian principalities in 1600. Stefan the Great was the voivode of Moldavia; he ruled his country for 47 years, and defeated the bigger and stronger enemies around him many times, building a monastery after each victory. He was one of the most brilliant strategists of his time. Mattias Corvinus was the king of Hungary, partly of Romanian origin, descendent from the princes of Transylvania. He was also one of the greatest rulers of his time in Europe, being the one who created and led to glory the Black Army of Hungary, which conquered Vienna and part of the kingdom of Bohemia, and was the only professional army of its time in Europe. Matei (Mattias) also founded the Biblioteca Corviniana, which was one of the greatest libraries in Renaissance Europe, and made his country one of the first to embrace the Renaissance.
    Emperor Trajan is mentioned in the anthem because he was the Roman conqueror of Dacia, and the ethnogenesis of the Romanian people is largely considered to be the result of this conquest and the subsequent Roman occupation of Dacia. As a matter of fact, the very ethnonym "Romanian" means "citizen of Rome".

      Mathias Corvinus has nothing to do with Romania. He was from Cuman, Vlach and Hungarian origins. And Traian was a Roman ruler, also nothing to do with the balcanic valachians.

    I'm Brazilian and I get goosebumps every time I hear the Romanian anthem.
    It's beautiful, strong and exultant. I love the final part: "It is better to die in battle, covered in glory, than again to be slaves in our own old land."
    I don't know if you've heard the Brazilian national anthem, but I'd like to introduce you to our grandiose Imperial Anthem (currently the Independence Anthem). The melody was composed by the emperor himself, Dom Pedro I, who freed us from Portugal in 1822.

    Then anthem is about our history and our aspirations for the future. It was composed in 1848, though it was only adopted as a national anthem after the fall of communism.
    Emperor Traian conquered Dacia and this is how our people was formed - the descendants of Dacians and Romans. It's why we speak a Romance language.
    We were at the crossroads of Empires, so we always had to fight being assimilated and keeping our national identity. Michael the Brave was the first to reunite the 3 Romanian principalities (Wallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania), albeit was for a short time - he was assassinated by foreigners. Steven the Great of Moldova won many battles against the Ottomans - and would build a church for every victory. Some of those churches are Unesco monuments (see the painted monasteries). They are heroes - not the only ones, of course.
    This song was very popular, ever since it was composed. People would sing it at gatherings in important events - like the War of Independence of 1877, the world wars etc. People also sung it on the streets at the 1989 Revolution against communism - and it was adopted as a national anthem afterwards.

    Wow , man ! It was so interesting to listen to the opinion of a foreigner ! Indeed this special song talks about the core of Romanian history: the fact that we were surrounded by big Empires and our ancestors lived a very hard life because of cruelty of our enemies! The names mentioned are of Romanian kings who had to fight dozens of battles against the opressors Actually the word "arm " in English comes from the Romanian word AR-mã =weapon; battle = bã-tã -LY-E , BEE COMES from (al)-bee-( nã ) , men= (oa)meni ! English linguists proved that Romanian language is at the base of most European languages! Mama =is the same in most languages

    You asked if we sing all these. The answer is "hell yes". We're learning to sing it since we're 6-7 years old. There actually 44 lyrics but we sing only 16 since the song shouldn't be that long. We sing lyrics number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,13,14,15,16,41,42,43,44. The complete poem also is talking about language, family, war, nationality, brotherhood, old and new and also a course for however bettray there comrades and country.
    Ps: Actually for being a deserter in the first and second world war you could be killed on the spot or tortured and tattoo whit the D on your hands for everyone to se and detest you. Actuality we have a novel named "Pădurea spânzuraților" write by Liviu Rebreanu. The inspiration is his brother death by hanging because he deserted and found guilty in 1917.

    Hi! I'm Romanian and our national anthem is very long, it has 12 stanzas/verses (and not, it's not communist; it was composed in 1876 when it was the Independence War for the Romanian regions, but it was adopted officially after the Revolution, in 1990), but officially are included only the first 4, from which, at sport competitions and other national events, we sing only the first 2 (because of the limited time, of course). Maybe you'll visit Romania on one of the 4 National Days (the main is on the 1st of December when we celebrate the Union of all the Romanian regions) to watch the festivities dedicated. Enjoy!

    • @MrVasilicus
      @MrVasilicus 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, it has 12 stanzas (each one is double than a regular one), but only the first 4 are official, and in the sport competitions or other oficial events, we sing only the first 2 stanzas, because IT would take too much time. Yes, the music is uplifting, but the most of romanians are annoyed by the lyrics, "Wake up, romanians!" and their reaction is "What?! Are we lazy people? No, no, no!" 😊🦸😤

    Hello! I saw a few "questions" that you put and i wanted to adress them:
    1: This anthem was first sang in Ramnicu Valcea, by Anton Pann, used as a marching song during both world wars and sang ocasinally during the communist times, finally being implemented as the official anthem after our revolution in 1989
    2: This song is not a patriotic song, its a nationalist song, as we take pride in our laungace, culture, people and land
    3: When it said "than to be slaves again" it reffers to the fact that we suffered a lot during our time, being controlled by multiple states as puppets, yet remaining united and not annexed. We were mainly puppets of the Romans(thats why now we are a latin country), the Hungarians, the Ottomans and the Russians. Everythime we had to fight those nations to gain our independence.

    the national anthem of Romania comes after many centuries of struggle for freedom, centuries meaning about two thousand years, And one more thing Romania has done or added to three more countries the national anthem, the music from the national anthem of Israel, the anthem of Albania and Moldova are from Romanian verses by different poets.

    I am Romanian-Dacian... and I like our National Anthem, but I want to mention that Traian was a Roman general sent to "Dacia" ( the name for Romanian territory that time around 101-102 AD),to "invade Dacia and steal gold and silver..."which was in abundance there. Dacian king "Decebal or "Decebalus in Latin" fought with Romans many times".So I believe that our National Anthem must include "Decebal,Dacia,Dacians,Scorillo ( Decebal's father ) or..Burebista another king between 44-82 BC...to mention "the roots". When Traian ( the Roman emperor ) entered Dacia he said something like this " I am proud to be back in my Ancestors Country...",if that tells you something...,and by the way Dacians were speaking Latin...already.So if they name Traian in Anthem they may have known more than the History teaches us,even the Vatican recognize the "Real Italian Background".With all these said,I still like our Anthem, the words and the message is about real things that happened to that land Romania and its people.

    • @Herkittyandhislady04072005
      @Herkittyandhislady04072005 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Go learn history again, Roman History too, not just Romanian where it teaches us about "Burebista" and "Decebal" . After 106, Emperor Marcus Ulpius Traianus took the remaining Dacians into slavery and sold them across the Roman Empire, and then sent Legions and Colonists to Dacia to populate it as the Romans had done so with Gaul(France), Hispania(Spain and Portugal) , etc. As those regions, just like Dacia, their population were massacred and sold into slavery after they were conquered. Also, in Greek and Roman Documents and statements, one of those statements said that the Dacians were of Thracian descent and followed a different religion than the GREEK or ROMAN one, indicating their different culture and religion. Now, if you saw some movies where Dacians spoke Latin, then u have to realize that its a movie and movies arent all the times reliable, sure, EDUCATED Dacians COULD learn and speak Latin or Greek, but, lets say if a Persian spoke Latin, does that make him Roman? NO.
      Warning for English Speakers, translate the next part if you wanna know.
      Noi, Romanii, avem mai mult DNA similar cu Italienii, Spaniolii, Francezii, etc pentru ca vorbim si suntem o Tara Latina, noi nu avem de loc in comun cu Dacii, noi asemanam mai mult cu Romanii din Secolul al 2-lea decat cu Dacii. Folosind logica ta, putem spune ca Egiptenii de astazi SUNT LA FEL ca Egiptenii antici inainte de Alexandru Cel Mare, adica in anii 400-300 inainte de Hristos.
      Back to English.
      So, I suggest reading more sources than our National History books as they wanted to have a National Ancestor focus and I'm sure they didnt wanna choose the Romans being our ancestors as at the time, there were many controversies about who is the Successor of Rome, and debate about it, etc. the History of Romania is very detailed and rich, and I advise anyone interested checking up the Romanian History from the Romanian side AND the other nations point of view side, such as the Greeks or the Romans.

    I feel like there shouldn't be roman empire presented as the origins of our country , the roman empire had influence only 170 years in Romania, our ancesters in fact are geto-dacs mostly, roman empire citizens couldn't change our ancestors origins in 170 years, as i don't believe citizens from Roman empire would get to change so much our blood line in Romanian regions they conquer between 107- 270 years A.J
    Like i feel like our geto-dacians origins been somehow deleted.

      Warning for English Speakers, translate the next part if you wanna know.
      Noi, Romanii, avem mai mult DNA similar cu Italienii, Spaniolii, Francezii, etc pentru ca vorbim si suntem o Tara Latina, noi nu avem de loc in comun cu Dacii, noi asemanam mai mult cu Romanii din Secolul al 2-lea decat cu Dacii. Folosind logica ta, putem spune ca Egiptienii de astazi SUNT LA FEL ca egiptienii antici inainte de Alexandru Cel Mare, adica in anii 400-300 inainte de Hristos.

    We was a peaceful nation always in history and many attacks us like Austro-Hungarians, Ottoman Empire , Roman Empire , Russian Empire but the only leader who was conqueror on our history was Burebista who had a massive piece of land in Europe but after him in the time Decebal ruled Dacia ( our old name because we was Dacians ) the Roman Empire ruled by many emperors wanted this land Dacia and the emperor Trajan succeeded it mostly and that’s why we say his name because after that dacians was transformed into Romanians because our language with italians have a 70%similarity in the words

      we Romanians have nothing to do with Dacians in the 1st and 2nd Century. So no, like you said, we transformed into Romanians. aka Romans. but due to migrations of other tribes, mainly slavic, and the subjugation of our nation by other powers such as the Turks, our Proto-Romanian changed over time to Romanian of today.

So for all Americans UK and the rest of the world dont trust the translation becouse dont have nothing to do with our athem. Sometime were truce and we had to pay them.. to keep us "free " , but we fight al the time for our fam. and lands. The national anthem has indeed some communism tones , but meh :) All song ...maybe in football stadiums.., but usually just first 3 verses
