These “dress rules” are no different that any workplace rules. Follow them, or quit or get fired. Have some pride in yourself! If you landed a great job, follow the rules, look the part and represent the company proudly. That’s my take.
My place of work had a very firm, explicit dress code right down to shoes. It was one of the conditions of employment there.
Exactly. I think when Catherine wore red nail varnish it was at Easter for a family service. I do think she will continue with many of the older dress codes etc while working. Nothing worse than chipped nail varnish especially if you have to shake hands.
Yes. The Queen had told Catherine she needed to put weights in her dresses. Hahaha she had a few fly up episodes.
@@anastasiaishak2950 In the way-back time that I was in the Army, we were required to put weights in the hemlines of our summer uniform jackets to prevent the edges from curling upwards. The weights made the front of the jacket hang smoothly with no wrinkles.
I wish our female tv presenters would follow those rules. Sporting a deep cleavage at breakfast time looks tacky and cheap.

Indeed! Meghan's "plot" was "American actress, attractive, well-spoken, California girl nabs Princely Spare and brings her Tig and celebrity sensibilities to the stodgy Royal Family firm." End of plot for her, she saw NOTHING beyond that, not true service, not actual practicalities, let alone did she respect the dress or behavioural 'codes' in place. She respected/respects no one but herself, she is immature beneath her years, and she displayed and continues to display that vividly.
The one thing she tried to engineer was to become more popular than William and Kate, figuring her adoring public would demand that She and the ginger whinger become the new monarchy. She failed and tried to force the Queen to choose them to be the heirs by taking off with Hopeless Harry to North America. The Queen called her bluff.

It’s ridiculous to consider these rules a “sartorial minefield.” It’s just common sense to have neat hair and avoid showing too much cleavage. It’s no different than the professional rules we used to follow at the office, before everyone started wearing jeans and T-shirts.
I fully agree with you, it's no more or less than a "dress code" which is part of many jobs, a Military Uniform has to be worn a certain way, a nurse has to follow certain guidelines, as do many offices, it is also good manners not to be seen representing your country whilst looking like something the cat brought in
I remember working in a downtown law firm back in the 90s and early 2000s. Management began gradually relaxing the dress code; of course, some associates, legal assistants and other support staff immediately began pushing the envelope. I saw wrinkled, unkempt slacks, unshined and worn-down shoes, women (usually attorneys) wearing blouses without bras (some clearly needed to be wearing supportive foundations). I remember thinking, “why would any of our visiting clients want to pay between $200 and $600 an hour and sit across a conference room table from attorneys they’ve retained to represent them in meetings with their opponents or, God forbid, paying to have these same ‘professionals’ represent them in Court?” They (the so-called professionals) didn’t get it, and neither does Rachel Meghan.
Marina I agree. And that is why I respect Prince Cathrine's way of dressing her children. Children learn from example but also need a guiding hand. When I see young girls and especially teenagers dressed scantily or boys lookin unkempt, etc I aways wonder where is the father because a father's opinion plays such a huge role in the teenage years. Daughter really do care about dad's opinion. Son's like to follow dad's example

It worked, but not in a good way, and made her look terrible. The only plus is her looking terrible made Catherine look more amazing! In other words, it backfired.
Negative attention, which normal people don't see as good. But then we all know MM is as abnormal as they come.
Maybe it worked, but look at the result - where is she now? The least admired and well-liked "royal" ever!
For all the wrong reasons
I think there are two significant differences between Catherine and Meghan. The first is, Catherine is naturally beautiful with a wonderful figure; Meghan is rather angular and for me, whenever I see her smile I instantly think of a smiling Wallace and Gromit character. All is not lost though, with the right advice she could look very presentable. Which is the second difference: Catherine is obviously able to take and use good advice, Meghan would never for one moment think that anyone else knew better than her. The end result is that Catherine looks like what she is, a future queen and Meghan looks like what she is, a cheap starlet wannabe.
The second difference is far, far more important than the first one!
That is why Meghan is a match for Harry and Catherine is a match for William
Here's another rule - at 23.47 - don't wear a duvet cover to a wedding.

Good point s out Harry. Every time he appeared in uniform with a full beard etc he was technically out of uniform. Nobody is allowed to wear a beard. Harry couldn’t be bothered to properly wear the uniform. It was a sign of extreme disrespect to all UK military members. That was one of the issues between William and Harry the night before they stood guard over the Queen before her Funeral. I understand William wanted him to get a haircut and to shave off the beard in order present proper respect when they stood guard. Of course he couldn’t be bothered. Adored his Granny? No.
A lot of military veterans and serving members wear beards now, many with PTSD have beards. It used to be frowned upon, but it’s accepted now.

Meghan reminds me of Kim Kardashian in that they’re both absolutely gorgeous objectively speaking. However, I constantly forget how pretty they are because they’re so obnoxious. It’s a weird phenomenon where personality truly upstages the looks. An unattractive person with an amazing personality will suddenly look better and even the most stunning woman gets ugly fast if she’s rude and stupid.

Catherine's Wimbledon outfit was wrinkled because she had been sitting for 4 hours watching tennis. Look at other photos from the stands - EVERYONE was wrinkled!

The late Queen Elizabeth must have been so disappointed with this woman. She must have been in total despair with her vile actions not only at home but abroad. Believe me should would have been well informed of the lack of respect. This is discourtesy at the highest level. I believe the Queen insisted they leave the RF as Markle was a total disgrace and did not represent the monarch i.e. the Queen in any shape or form and realised very early on that she was incapable of undertaking any sort of royal role. Oh no this was not deliberate she is always dressed like that. She never knew what it was to be a royal. She always tried very hard to have fame and fortune and she got it when she fooled naive Harry as he was desperate to marry just anyone or perhaps she fooled him and the royal family with all her lies until they started seeing the real person and they were shocked. Perhaps Harry began to notice all that now but it is too late he is now trapped in more ways than one.

From a Brit: I would assume that anyone who represents their country, whether a President, Prime Minister or a Royal should conduct themselves with a certain aplomb.
I think one of the worst episodes was in Morocco when she barged in front of the husband, unbelievably appalling behaviour and an insult to their customs.
This is why many of us here in in the UK dislike her: she has no decorum and seems oblivious to listening for advice. Her outfits on many occasions on 'royal duties' were absolutely awful, there is one photograph of her in black trousers and a tartan coat but the trousers were too long and the trouser hems were unhemmed: disgraceful.
From another Brit. I don’t know about you but I would not be critiquing her clothing, hair and make up so much if her behaviour had been different.
I think we all would’ve given her more leeway if these were mistakes. However, it just became so clear that she had no respect for the position she was in and would not follow any advice. Some people might praise her for being rebellious but that’s not a good look in a woman in her (now) forties. It just screams “up yours” which is galling given how much she was given, not only financially.

One thing that always stands out screaming to me is… why can’t MeGain properly roll a sleeve! Rolled sleeves should not be the norm anyway unless at more casual events but HOLY MOLEY by sins could roll a proper sleeve and iron their own shirts in grade school and they grew up in very rural middle of nowhere Alaska! I agree. Those messssy rolled up sleeves annoy me, too. Also when she wears a dress with a fabric belt, the belt is tied in a very untidy way. And her hair is disgusting, greasy, dirty and uncombed. Edit: The reason also bright colours are discourage (not forbidden!) it’s because of a nail chips during an event or on the way to an event (we all have suffered this!) it’s less noticeable than in bright coloured nails as well as the clean healthy appearance that the light pink will give.
It’s actually a lot of thought put behind all this rules and advices.
I follow some of them myself as they give me a professional appearance in my work when meeting people! And I must say (tried and tested) wins me clients every time I dress “like a royal”

100% agree. The rules for Royal ladies have been built up over generations to make them look good and ladylike! They're there to help newbies look good from Day 1 and avoid all those mistakes Meghan made.
But behind that act of arrogance and smugness, I suspect Meghan Markle is not very confident and in truth very insecure. She's not creative either as we've seen time and time again. These traits mean she could not place her trust in the Royal dressers nor envisage how they could have helped her develop her own 'Royal' style and become the Royal star she so desperately wanted to be. Instead she's turned out to be the scruffiest Royal ever and the most disliked.

@@rt66vintage16 I've picked up some great clothes at Wally World. As a matter of fact, I could probably dress more appropriately than MM for any non-formal royal occasion with Walmart off-the-rack, especially if I had access to someone who could tweak the fit on things.
The above is not to say that WM would be my preferred choice, just that I can buy stuff that looks far better on me for under $50 an outfit than MM succeeds with a four or five figure budget. (Not that having something look better on me than the stuff she wears looks on her is a high bar.)

H seemingly went to HM the Queen and asked to keep his beard for the wedding stating something like it helped his confidence/security blanket kind of thing. The thing I can’t stand is the back of his neck. The hair line never seems to be tidied and just makes him look dirty.
I don’t care if it added to his confidence- his responsibility as a Senior Royal was to always wear the uniform properly -as an example to every rank of UK military personnel. This is when Charles should have stepped in and told him to be clean shaven! He was supposed to have set the example! He was and is a slob! He took it for granted -he did not earn the rank and commission like William and other Officers have!
Meg's also awful for wearing evening wear in the daytime, which is not even royal just standard dress sense. She's so try-hard it's ridiculous.

The protocol situation applied to her not just as a Royal but as the wife of a man in uniform ( I’ve avoided saying an Officer as it was after he had left the Army but still held his Royal ranks). Wearing an off the shoulder dress to Trooping the Colour was a no no because she was with a man in uniform, no service man’s partner would dress like that so she wasn’t just insulting the Royal family but all service personal. Harry should have told her this. & guided her. The red dress she worn at the concert in London just before Megixt, the same again. The officers were in Mess jackets in red, so their partners don’t wear red to distract from the red jackets, they dress down, still evening wear but don’t distract.
She also violated protocol at that US military event on the Intrepid where she wore that hideous, flashy red gown. These medal presentations call for simple evening wear in muted colors. She flounced in dressed for an ultra-fancy ball or the Oscars.
In the old days, ladies sewed weights in the hems of their dresses or skirts.

Most of these rules comes down to slfrespect and respect for others. I you have selfrespect, you will be neat, you will not show unnecessary skin, you will make sure that your clothes fit properly and that it is fitting for the occasion.
Meghan purposely went against the rules. This way she could say oh look they’re bullying me. She had many people helping her so there’s no way she could get it wrong…she chose to do it wrong!
