Never ice bath after a match or a workout. Always before. If you do or after, it will actually slow down recovery and hinder muscle protein synthesis

@@cummerchant542 it will slow down recovery and if you’re a weightlifting it will hurt your gains. Best to wait 4-6 hours after strenuous exercise to ice bath
@@cummerchant542 Recovery ice baths do not work. There are papers from 2008 onwards proving this, hence why teams stopped promoting it as a recovery method.
Yeah, I did that once 2 hours after a match and I caught a fever.
We also need to mention that they will also feel better at winter.

Doesn’t improve blood flow. Ice baths vasoconstrict pre capillary sphincters, which means the lumen of the arteries and veins tighten meaning less blood flows to muscle fibre. Hence the reduction in inflammation and removal of lactic acid

But if you compare cold showers with ice baths, they have slightly different benefits; ice baths are beneficial after a certain amount of time post-workout or post-training, cold showers are beneficial in the morning and evening, generally better after waking up.

Ice baths are for athletes who have high physical demands on the body, they need to use them as a way to get through high volumes of games/trainings. You want inflammation if you’re not actively competing. inflammation is good for gains. really no need to ice bath if you’re not a pro athlete, other than the psychologist training aspect.

The idea of having an ice bath after matches was debunked back in 2008; there are multiple papers showing why it’s useless. If anything you should take one BEFORE a match. Ice baths lower the overall temperature of the body, slowing protein synthesis as the enzymatic reactions slow down as the body moves further away from the optimal temperature.
But don't do ice bath if you sweat a lot because ur outer body is hot and direct contact to oce bath will lead to heart attack.
