    Of the people I know and several reactions, many people are torn between Invincible and Pneuma as the best songs. I go back and forth myself. I saw a comment from a guy the other day that said basically my favorite Tool song is whichever one I just listened to. The transitions in Invincible are epic to me.

    • @andrewlockett4569
      @andrewlockett4569 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, except probably for the guitars on Descending. In certain parts from the 7:00 mark, there is too much fuzz and amplification on Jones guitar on the album version to my mind. The notes lack the simplicity and sharpness heard on the original live versions first played back in May or so. The music is great, but that section seems over produced to me. The bass and drum recordings are spot on though.

    • @Republic3D
      @Republic3D 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewlockett4569 That's interesting. I'll have to listen to it again to know what you mean. My favorite tracks are Pneuma and Invincible. There's one thing I don't like about the new album, and that's the shrill ping noise in the beginning of the Fear Inoculum track. I'm sensitive to that kind of pitch so I have to skip the intro.

  • @CitroChannel
    @CitroChannel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Justin Chancellor's bass work never gets enough credit from most reactors. It's instrumental (no pun intended) to their sound and is always phenomenal.

    Love you guys...it's cool watching you discover great music and the emotions they bring. I know you have delved into Yes a bit. I believe you guys have reacted to "Roundabout", a good song and "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from later in the bands career and IMO not the best example of what made Yes as well thought of as they have come to be. Next time you go back to Yes I recommend the epic "Close to the Edge" or if you want something a bit less lengthy perhaps "Siberian Khatru". Also another Prog rock band that I do not recall you listening too is Emerson, Lake and Palmer. ELP was, along with Pink Floyd and Yes, at the lead of prog rock movement in the early 70's. For ELP I would suggest starting with "The Barbarian" from 1970 and then maybe something like "Toccata" from 1973. They are both instrumentals but really do show off the skill of the band, namely Keith Emerson's keyboards and Carl Palmer's drums. If you want to go for the gusto try "Tarkus" which also features Greg Lake's vocals.

Oh, and I meant to add Descending, I think I would put it very close to Invincible and yes, ahead of Pneuma. Poor Pneuma.

    Happy New year guys. Thanks for the entertainment in 2019. Great to see your channel grow from this time last year. Back then it was just Andy, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and one or two others. Looking forward to another 150 or so reactions over the coming year. Best wishes from Burniston, UK.

    Tool is in a class all by itself. There is no other band that compares...maybe a little of A Perfect Circle is close because it is of the same origin but a little lighter in its delivery. I am a 63 year old woman, but I was introduced to many bands during the time my son was playing rock during his teenage years. He was a hardcore metal musician, so I heard all of the heavy hitters and I learned to appreciate some of the standouts...tool being one of them and IMO the best. They just take it to a whole other level.

    This blew my mind when they played it live in Melbourne 22/2/20. I cried they were so fucking good.

    Invincible and Descending are gonna blow your faces off. Pneuma, Invincible, and Descending are the best tracks on this album. Unreal...

    First time hearing this track. I love the complicated rythmn that messes me up and it all comes together when the section is over. That's what made me fall in love with this band way back when in the olden days. LoL 😆 🤙

    To round out the 70s' material, I think you guys should check into BTO - Bachman Turner Overdrive, and Bob Seger (+). Also if you return to Heart, do Barracuda.

    I'm voting for "PushIt" from the Salival album. They also do a great cover of Led Zeplin's "No Quarter" on that album. OH MY GOD I LOVE TOOL!!

    What was that at the begining, did they record my kitchen sink dripping? 😳 Very good indeed!
    Background music? Noo!
    Elevator music? Noo! 🤔
    It's more like the sounds of the pipes and creaks of a haunted apartment building coming alive. 🤗

    Tool are masters of their craft…feel like Tool and Pink Floyd are cut from the same block.
