You have the BEST tutorials! All of them are so easy to follow bc you describe what to do & show exactly what to do AND you don’t get off track with what your saying (you don’t over explain to a point where we don’t know what’s going on). I’m DEFINITELY trying these ones tonight for SURE. THANK YOU!!!!
I have made several masks from templates I got online and this one is by far the best. The mask fits much better and doesn’t cave in when you breathe, plus it’s very comfortable. Thank you Daisy!
I love your mask videos, especially how you provide patterns and offer lots of ideas for substituting materials. Thanks also for offering tutorials in Spanish! 💕💕💕
Hello Daisy, I'm gathering all the materials I need, and have watched the tutorial several times. I have only one question before I start cutting; how do you measure your face to determine what size fits best?
Thank You for all of your tutorals. I follow you and am using your techniques to help protect as many people as possible. I know we cannot stop Covid but, we can slow it down one mask at a time!
Daisy, you have the best patterns and tutorials, and you teach so clearly. I've been making masks using the fitted pattern with filter pocket (and adding a nose wire), but I think I'll try this pattern, too. Thank you!
Daisy, gracias por compartir tus grandes destrezas en la costura y darnos la oportunidad de crear nuestra propia mascarilla con tus patrones . Eres genial, la major! Estoy mas que agradecida por ser tan generosa y compartirlo con todos nosotros. Dios te Bendiga a ti y a tu familia. Thank you so much!!!Daisy, thanks for sharing your great sewing skills and giving us the opportunity to create our own mask with your patterns. You are great, the best! I am more than grateful for being so generous and sharing it with all of us. God Bless you and your family. Thank you so much !!!
Wonderful, Daisy! But I have seven questions: 1. You give 22" measurement for the "neck string" elastic, but you give no measurement for the elastic the forms the earlobes and makes the mask adjustable by being pulled through the 1/2" channels? So--how long should that piece be? 2. Since the piece that makes the ear loops is what makes the mask "adjustable 360", it might need to be tightened by the wearer (perhaps) in order to gather the mask and make it 360 degrees adjustable. How can the wearer shorten that piece if it is too long or if the elastic stretches out and later needs to be pulled tighter? 3. You give no pattern for the filter if one wants to be able to put a filter into the pocket. Ideally, the filter should be a single piece of fabric with no center seam. Please provide guidance on cutting a filter to the correct shape and size so that it covers the entire interior of the pocket. 4. In your other videos, you emphasize the need to cut notches in the seam allowance of the curved seam to allow it to lie smoothly without bunching, but not for this mask. Why is that? 5. When you sew all the pieces of the mask together, are the top and bottom seam allowances 3/8" like the curved one is? 6.Will the gathers caused by the elastic in the channel make it difficult to wear glasses with the mask? 7. At least some of your other masks include a nose wire option, but this one does not. I wear eyeglasses--will this mask version cause the wearer's glasses to fog up without a nose wire to help it conform to the face and keep hot air form escaping under the eye/around the nose? Thank you for your patience in answering these questions!
I have been looking through the comments, did you ever get a length on the main elastic (the one that is fed through for the ears and around the mask)? Thank you!
bhsmd731 Oh, my my! I hope were not seriously expecting she would come back and answer all of these questions. She created a pattern, sewed the piece, filmed it, included very detailed information in the description box, and gave her work to the world for free. The least you can do is sew it as it's shown on the video, try it, answer the questions on your own, and make the adjustments that please you and meet your needs. Then come back and, in gratitude for her generosity, share your tweaks with her and others.
Hi Daisy. Love all your great work that you share with everyone. I just cant find the patterns for the reversible or the tubular mask. Please tell me where to look. Thank you.
The farmyarn, you could cut ruler size in bottom of t-shirts to make ties with. It is same thing as farmyarn. I knew this long long time ago 50 years ago when I was a teenager and I would cut the sleeves off my t-shirt to make it look like tank top and I would cut some strips from the sleeves that I cut off to make strings out of it and tie them on top of my tank my tank tops from the neck to the shoulder. It was really cool back then. It was good idea that farmyarn recycle them.
Daisy, that elastic looks perfect for mask making. I will order some. And this new style of mask, with channels on the top and bottom edges, looks interesting. I'll give it a try because I'm afraid the need for wearing face covers will be with us for a long, long time, and one "kind" does not fit all! Muchas gracias.
Thank you for this review. It was perfect and I so appreciated the Farm Yarn reference. I had beeen looking for a reversable pattern to follow & the different sizes to use. The best!
I can't find where to get the patterns. I can't tell the measurements. Excellent as to how to put it together. I am a long time sewer learning from about age 10 in 4-H. I have a basic sewing machine. I have crafted my own, but I did realize that the chin is different from the nose area. I have some that fit wonderfully, but I am not confident I can just copy them and add an extra layer. They are only 2 layers. They are sewed properly like what you do, making them difficult to just take apart and put back together.
Hola Daisy. Gracias por este video pero no he podido encontrar esta tela. Me encanta mucho y quisiera hacerlos. No lo he podido buscar en la página web que está incluido.

Could you tell me if the blue fabric is facing inside out when you cut it. I can tell with the print that right side of fabric is together when you cut it.
@Marian R: Haven't made it myself but rule of thumb when cutting out fabric is 'right side to right side' (in other words same as the patterned fabric). Hope this helps.

Hello Daisy, I purchased four rolls of the Farmyarn. I like the material but when I sew the elastic to make ear loops the material gets stuck in the sewing machine. How can I avoid this?
Kay, I made some strings from cutting the bottom of large size t-shirt little wider than ruler size. After you cut, you stretch them then use your judgement how long you need.
