Nice video! I would love to see this or similar on a 95 Grand Cherokee Limited with electric windows, door locks, and security. I can't figure the switch out the attaches to the key lock, can't figure out how to make it stay on lock and if open when turning key ccw or switch closed when turn key ccw. If you have a video or seen one and possibly have a link, please let me know. Thanks.

I think this will help, see i lost the screws that go under the button and now i was told that the mechanism is wore out.

I know this is super old… but my front passenger door will only open from the outside. It locks/unlocks fine. The rod for the inside handle is connected and moves but I can’t figure out how it’s supposed to work to figure out why it isn’t working. The part that the rod moves doesn’t seem to connect to anything. This video would be perfect if it showed what the inside handle rod is moving to make the door open 🥲

There should be a plastic clip to the arm, it has a small locking tab. Unclip it spin it 180 degrees and you should be able to push the rod out

Question, I have a 98 Jeep xj, the switches for the locks work, but they will not unlock the doors with the panel on. I removed the panels and the passenger door locks and unlocks but the drivers will not. Also, with the panel on, I cannot manually lock or unlock the panel. Moreover, I need to know how to remove the interior door handle.

Okay I sent my Jeep to get painted once I got it back I noticed my drivers side door doesn’t lock any more? I’ll put key in lock it that way by outside still doesn’t lock it could it be one of the rods is bent?

Rod may be bent or the plastic bushing may need to be replaced

May need some aero kroil and a pry driver to manually open it from the inside and assess the damage once you get it open

Hey there. I have a 1996 jeep cherokee sport. four door. the front passenger won't open. I removed the inner skin. Seems everything is rusted. I've used plenty of penetrating oil to now avail. Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you

The rust may have caused parts to wear excessively , bend or wear out see if you are getting a full movement and check back in

ok, I have on for you, I can't Unlock the door with the Key, or with the Latch from inside the vehicle. It was getting difficult at first, but I could eventually wiggle the Key to open the door, but not now. And the Indoor latch was experiencing the same restrictions. I have removed the door upholstery from inside, but still have not been able to determine, as to Why I can NOT unlock the door.
    Thanx, for the video..

Check the plastic bushings the rod locks into and to see if the lock rod is bent

My rear door just got stuck it was only about 25 out when I finally opened the door it wouldent shut afterwards so I tried to spray some wet/dry lube in the latch and in the handles and I got the door to close but now it is just stuck closed hopefully if I go out there when it warms up later and move the lever then kick it maybe it will open up
