People often attribute the fall of Constantinople to the weakened state of the Byzantine Empire and consider it a low point in their history. However, Mehmed II's conquest also underscores his strategic acumen and the pivotal role of seizing opportunities in shaping historical outcomes. Even if Rome had been at its peak, Mehmed's determination and strategic skill might have eventually led to its defeat, albeit with a prolonged and more challenging campaign.

Thats not impressive. Conquering them when they actually could fight and were at a stronger point would have been much more impressive 😂
Ottomans isolated empire and defence of the city was strong. It's walls were the strongest. It also took help from other Christians. 23 times such armies surrounded it also Conguerror's father tried it and failed like other 22 times. Conguer of Istanbul was so imressive . And harder than you think.
@mustafazademustafa lmao. Bruh it was NOT impressive at all. 200 years prior to the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans the city was sacked twice by the Latins and Crusaders at the end of the 4th Crusade. As a result the Byzantine Empire was divided into multiple small successor states losing the majority of its territory and resources. Which it never regained. The Niceans retook the city of Constantinople 60 years later in 1261. But the Byzantine Empire never regained its power and was incredibly small and depleted after this. The Byzantine Empire was also in a constant state of war against Western & Eastern powers after this. Specifically, against the Second Bulgarian Empire, the Serbian Empire, Genoatians, Venecians, Ottoman Empire, Mongol Empire, the remnants of the Latin Empire and even groups such as the Knights Hospitaller... Then in 1349, 100 years prior to it's fall to the Ottomans, the Black Death swept through and wiped out half of Constantinoples population. By 1450 AD the Empire consisted of Constantinople, a few miles of land around Constantinople, the Princes Islands (tiny islands) and small holdings on the Peloponnese Peninsula in Greece.
@mustafazademustafa By the time of the siege and Fall of the city in 1453 there were only 50-60,000 people living within Constantinople. This number included refugees from outside the city. The Byzantines only had between 7,000-9,000 professional soldiers. 2,000-3,000 of these were foreign volunteers... and they had between 20,000-30,000 armed milita made up of untrained or poorly trained citizens. They also only had 26 warships and the city only had a few small artillery pieces left. The Ottomans had a standing professional army of between 80-100,000 soldiers including Janissaries. They also had 30+ large warships and 100 smaller/medium ships and transports. Yet despite this, the siege last for 53 days and most historic sources out the Ottoman death toll at the end of the 1st day of the siegw at 18,000. And a total of around 25-40,000 Ottoman casualties by the end of the siege 52 days later. That's not an impressive conquest. Conquering the city when the Empire was at its height, close to equal power againsy the Ottomans, or at least when it had actual territory and a standing army left would have been impressive. But that was not the case which is why its not impressive.
@@MG322_88 just try to understand if your capital is surrounded that means you are weak just like other 23 times. I mean weak you can't attack or sth. But if you don't fall 23 times that means you are strong enough to defend your city with it walls with it's protectors or anything. If your capital stood against 23 times it can stand for 24th. But Mehmet was different. He moved the ships overland when they chained water. Məhməd was not like any other mankind at that time he think different he act different. @@HsbggNope Even in history I've read many Empire Serbians,Bulgarians,Rum, Caliphates. No one could defeat those walls even in it's most crumbling form. Even Byzantines after rise of Ottomans could not even win one battle. Where was the pride of Greeks, where's the blood the Spartans. Greeks were finally defeated by by outer forces and were captured.
@@Allah_is_the_Greatest1 Hermano by the time the ottomans got there the city was sacked a couple years before severely weakened and still put on a good fight.
he didn't conquer the Roman empire, it was not even an empire at that time, just a city state.
So what? It was still the remaining part of the Roman empire which was left unconquered and it was hard to conquer it which no one did before. And by doing that the last part of the Roman empire lost and was conquered

Prophecy? Lol
What's funny?
@@me0wyet It's funny what people believe
@yarnybart5911 yes it was a prophecy prophet [pbuh] said " You shall conquer Constantinople, what a wonderful leader will her leader be and what a wonderful army will that army be, the army of that nation. And so they did it and hence the prophet Muhammad pbuh was right after all.
@@MuhammadAbdullah-sk6rt He also prophesused the sun setting in a pool of boiling water, centurues before science discovered that's where the sun sets. In fact, they still haven't discovered it.
@@yarnybart5911 lol he doesn't prophesied it noob. It's the story of Zur qur nain. Allah said in the Quran when Zur qur nain reached the far end of the world he found sun setting in the pool. It literally means it looked like to him that it was setting in a pool doesn't really mean it is. Atleast do some research before opening ur ugly tongue 👅
Roman empire ❌
Byzantine empire ✅
Only empires who defeated romans empire was persian empire (sassanid and parthian empire)
Byzantium was the Eastern Rome or the last heir of the Roman Empire, and the Persians were not the only ones who defeated the wild barbarians of Africa when the Roman Empire defeated them.
Attila also defeated them. The Persians suffered heavy defeats from the Romans many times. Raise your knowledge of history or don't comment.
The name byzantine popped up 200-300 years after the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire. They were always called Eastern Roman Empire
He conquered the city because the city was fuked at that point.....No one could have defeated the roman empire at their peak

He literally defeated "the roman Empire" when it was at its absolute weakest and isolated 😂. And after the city had already been sacked and ravaged by the Latins during the last Crusade.
@@mustafazademustafa the only impressive thing was that they were able to breach the massive and formidable walls
Everybody on planet feared him and his strategies. If Constantinople fell it is not for it was weak it is because Mehmed was different was stronger wasn't like other 23 times if city was weak it would fell 23 times anyone couldn't get Constantinople but Mehmed the Conqueror . Every commander's dream every king's wish. And yes Conguer of ISTANBUL was is will be impressive , most epic and will never be forgotten.
