Catra: "LOL, I'm gonna manipulate Horde Prime and overthrow him so I can rule everything!" Horde Prime: "Well yes, but actually no." Catra: "Sh*t, guess I'll be good now."
I don't get why she thinks she can get away with that. Horde Prime is stronger than Hordak, doesn't have the emotional baggage of love and feelings of inadequacy like Hordak does, and he has a better army than Hordak did. Manipulating Hordak also involved beating him in a fight twice, exploiting a weakness that I assume Horde Prime doesn't have... Not to mention he's seen Hordak's memories and should be able to poke holes in her lies easily. Even if she's part of the Horde, she's clearly rebellious and has no respect for authority. I feel like the writers really want Catra to be the main villain but also need to a way to excuse her behaviour so that she's easier to redeem, so they just put her misdeeds on being the fault of Hordak, who's misdeeds are now being attributed to Horde Prime for the same reason.
Catra only became good when she faced an opponent stronger then her. That's not a redemption, that's literally being a coward and taking the safest route. Then again, if the Horde was a more threatening of a force, I wonder how long the alliance would actually last.
@@MaverickhunterXZero [Spoiler Alert] How can she be a coward if she didn't escape with Glimmer? She was fully aware that Lord Prime will caught her yet she still helped Glimmer. She didn't run, she stayed behind, risking her life thinking that without her was the same, which sadly it was actually the truth. Glimmer's words got to her too since she was shocked when Glimmer told her the weapon can destroy the entire universe and made her thinking how bad this is. I don't agree with what Catra did or anything but still she might have been a lot of things but she was not a coward and she is a great character. They handled her redemption well, I read bad reviews about it and some of the writers or content creators seem like they didn't follow her character through the first 4 seasons.

Yeah, this show really seems to excel at being too little too late with just about everything, from character development to plot progression. It shouldn't take 5 seasons, no matter how short each season might be, for them to introduce a proper villain on what is supposed to be a superhero/high fantasy/science fiction show, especially when they had several iconic 80s villains like Hordak & Shadow Weaver to choose from. The show wasted its time on building up Catra like she was the best thing since sliced bread to the detriment of every other character on the show...And from what I've heard (spoilers ahead if you actually care about this terrible show), it seems like its gonna end with her SOMEHOW being redeemed despite her being an unapologetic monster since the beginning. 80s Catra may have spoken with silly feline speech patterns, but at least she OWNED being a villain through and through, none of this "Oh woe is me! I can be as awful as I want because I had a rough childhood" nonsense. Oh, & 80s Catra wasn't a generic catgirl character either, she actually had powers, she could shape-shift into an armored panther!
I watched castlevania this weekend and I've learned a few things 1. Castlevania managed to get to the plot in 4 episodes while She ra can't. 2. It's total bullshit that Castlevania has a small episode count.
I have to say, Castlevania and She-Ra actually suffer from the same problem, not enough episodes to flesh out the world! The important difference is that Castlevania has not enough episodes in general while She-Ra does not use the time they were granted. Competence: A true game changer.

She-Ra on the other hand has more seasons and episodes than Castlevania yet has done absolutely nothing with them. Hell The Dragon Prince is in the same boat (both The Dragon Prince and Castlevania are on their third season waiting for the 4th) yet both shows managed to tell a more coherent story than She-Ra.

In two season(13 ep each, same as She-Ra) they went into the world building, lore, and the culture of each planet they visited. It was able to get alot done in no more than 26 episodes total, with season 3 being an unlikely chance as of now. You want to know something funny, Bruce Timm(showrunner for GL and pretty much the man who brought us the DC animated universe.) worked on the original She-ra and He-Man.

Even spoilier: They can not abuse Kyle anymore since he was declared non-heterosexual through Scorpia´s leak, declaring him member of a protected group. Now, one could argue they kept that for the last season so they could use him as a butt of all jokes until they needed the kids no more, but that would imply that the creators are mean people pushing an agenda...
So one of the few named soldiers in the Horde get little to no resolution in the final season. Not counting characters like Catra or Scorpia that don't even where the full soldier armour like the others do. Come to think of it, what happened to the rest of the regular Horde army? Horde Prime doesn't seem to care for them, and seems to be using his own troops.
Remember that Justice League episode where Wonder Woman was turned into a child? She was still more mature and competent than any of the princesses! Figures each spoiled princess on the show acts like more of a child than even a child superheroine!
Fucking OG Ben 10 when he was 10 years old acted more mature than She-Ra crew. Hell the person in my profile pic is more mature and he constantly drinks a lot.

Also while you guys are watching this look at horde primes face where theirs dark gray at the base of his chin, for some weird reason they decide to have it jut out when hes at an angle but have it look normal when hes looking at you from the front. I say animation error, look at 2:07 where mermista's braid looks like it's gone. Not even a showing of it hanging off of her shoulder like it normally is. I looked back and it seems like something they do normally. It's a common error or intensional choice, either way it's lazy. A few extra circles to indicate a mass of hair shouldn't be that hard and this style is not that complex, it's not as detailed as Avatar and isn't as stylistic as something as OG PPG, it's just.....bland wannabe anime.

Them hiding in this one part of the Whispering Woods seems to be an homage to the original She-Ra, where the rebellion basically had to stay in the forest to avoid being caught by the horde and its magic kept the villains out. Seems odd that the show waits until the final season to get similar levels of stakes as the 80s show, where it truly felt like the bad guys were in charge of Etheria and the heroes only had a really tiny portion.
It annoys me when Frosta uses her ice gauntlets because it makes no sense (even with sci-fi logic which usually runs fast and loose) that she is able to run with them much less use them in combat. 1. If she has literally just put big chunks of ice on her arms, she needs to have superhuman strength to lift and swing her arms fast enough for them to deal damage. And she hasn't exhibit superhuman strength in any other instance which I can recall so I'm ruling that out. 2. If she doesn't have superhuman strength and is using her cryokinesis to levitate her ice gauntlets to achieve the necessary speed to inflict the damage that they do, that could potentially dislocate/break her arms if she were ever to swing and miss. 3. When she swings and connects, the bones in her hands and arms should be fractured or shattered with each impact.
She could have been like Pete shop or White Album from Jojo where they can send ice projectiles and increase the size or freezing temperature. Would make it easier than going up close and risk getting hit in the face.
I love this show, but how they deal with her powers really annoys. She would be much more powerful if she made ice structures, blizzards, or shot long-range projectiles.

Missing the other half. Thanos: Perfectly balance. This channel should not be. Anyway back to criticizeing this poorly written show people go crazy over. So we skipped the invasion, what wasted potential. Yeah what's going on with the princess' kingdoms? Are they taken over or what? What a way to protect your people. Horde Prime only had one season to be the villain which doesn't leave room for him to make an impression and impact. Hordak had four seasons, I can remember his personality despite being shot multiple times with a six-shooter. Shadow Weaver and Micah see each other for the first time in years. And we don't see the interaction between them. I don't understand why Horde Prime would make clones of himself or why any villain would do that. I guess he only sees himself as competent enough to wage wars and command his army. (Hordak)
I think it's just because he's a narcissist with a god complex who thinks only he should have free will and everything should be an extension of himself. Also, apparently he regularly transfers his mind into new clone bodies to keep himself alive.
Shitloads of clones you can immediately download your entire persona, memories, and personalities into. What better way to ensure immortality? Even if they kill your body, the soul just goes to a new shell. Plus the fact that each clone can feed all it's knowledge and everything it learns to horde prime. There's a reason why The Borg is one of the most terrifying baddies in all of Star Trek and there's a lot of Borg in Horde Primes's collective.

I'm a fanfiction writer myself and I think fanfiction can be good if you respect the source material and try to make the version you're creating of that world believable to people. It has to come from a place of love, not resentment.
And there is no villian redemption at all. Like Catra just straight up being pass and forgiven despite how many times she have becoming so abusive towards many people. But all they care is the rep more even if it means including abusive relationships :/
Now, let us be fair, since the showrunners only cared about Catra and Adora bickering, those military things naturally had to be overlooked. In a story about a world wide conflict with two distinct parties. That is not bad for the story or anything, nope, no chance that turns into a trashfire...
Yeah, it feels like there's not much actual tactical play going on here. Just two sides that are attacking whatever point the other side controls. It doesn't help that it always seems to be Adora and her friends fighting these guys off. You don't see a bunch of Princess Alliance soldiers populating these bases once the Horde is gone, or vice versa. They just destroy each other then leave.
*Short Version:* They wrote Hordak out of being the villain just so they could redeem him but still have stakes. The writers care more about their life lessons than they do the quality of the story, so they introduce a new threat to pin all the problems on so that they can redeem all the villains without the audience getting upset. *Long Version:* I feel like the writers really wanted to have Catra as the main villain, but they also needed a more serious villain to pin the blame on so that Catra can be redeemed. One would think that would be Hordak, but then they wanted to redeem him, so they introduce a completely new villain a little over one season away from the end of the show. Yes I know that they mentioned Horde Prime before, but to have the supposed big bad never fight the protagonist directly, and replace him with someone who hasn't even been observing the events that took place prior to their arrival feels like a way of writing the antagonist out of his role. All so that they can redeem these characters while still having the stakes high enough for the audience to care what's going on. Because despite being for them and their friends, this is still a "children's show", and thus needs cool things to keep the kids watching since the kids either won't pickup on, or won't care about what greater message this show is trying to give about our society.

based off these reviews I would side with Hordak over Catra. Hordak was basically taught his whole life people were inferior so naturally he would not show concern for life. that is very different from someone who did understand people's lives and yet did crap anyways. Reminds me of Discord's redemption in My Little Pony. it was basically he never experienced caring for others in his entire life.
Best Point: If Catra knew she could take over the horde, she would. Yes she would, and those who don't watch this series with blinders on know it's true.

I don’t understand why they needed to take the characters of She-ra to make this show. It’s not a bad show per say, I mean they suck at telling you anything, showing you anything, and bring up 9 million plot points that tend to never go anywhere or be answered, but makes for a good couples getting together story...kinda...I mean if you are okay with people totally over looking doing bad things to each other............I am TRYING to come up with good points! Best I can say is in your last video that you guys summed up a ton of things going into this season, you basically NAILED IT, but after 4 seasons of tell and don’t show...and you are about lucky if you get THAT! Because the people who greenlight shows saw exactly what you saw: A piece of badly balanced storytelling that lacks the potential to draw a starting audience. Stevenson's name is mainstream only since it is attached to She-Ra, nobody would have bothered watching the hot new show by the inventor of Lumberjanes. Well, outside of a hand full of tumblerinas who might have already migrated to the next big thing representing an even more fashionable kind of diveresity since that is all over the comic industry today and not a niche anymore. They understood that plastering a known franchise on the show was the only chance to get it off the ground since those come with a build in audience, to be used as soil to grow attention out of. Add to that these people have no long time interest in the value of a franchise that might land somewhere else, showrunners who feel insulted by being forced to use an old franchise to cover up their own concept and there you have it: The perfect recipe for a show that will cost millions and only resonate with a small group of potential customers.
Writers that don't get their personal projects picked up typically work on established brands and use their stories there instead. So instead of making stories that fit the world they've been hired to write for they change the canon so they can make the story they wanted but no one cared to give them the funds to do.

That is bad enough, but even their own story can’t carry a tune! I think back to both my high school classes and Collage classes, if I had written a story like this the teacher would have RIP-ED it so hard that they would have BEGGED me to copy someone else’s story and give it a passing D! I won’t even get into all kinds of wrong that is in itself but would be better than the 5 seasons of pure wasted ANYTHING!

@@catnipaddict9418 So am I(more of a graphic designer but I've love drawing). The only design I actually like is Entrapta's but that is more of the exception, every one else lacks some depth that it makes them look weird and those moments of animation errors does not help.
I feel that in terms of the art, that it all looks pretty flat. There's not a lot of shading or lineart to convey body definition, depth, or material type, so everything just looks pretty plain. Like how Catra's tiara thing is metallic (though I think it shattered like glass once?), but it just looks like plastic or fabric because there's no kind of shine on it or anything. Heck, Scorpia's exposed flesh on her arms makes her claws look like they're just being worn over regular hands. I can't tell her clothes apart from her scorpion parts.
Putting this first because it's the most important: the fact they break down so easily when faced with Horde Prime really shows just how easy they've had it and why Catra was able to worm her way up the ranks of Etheria's Horde. To them it really was all just a game. A game they played with lives and look where that got them. If this show, at this rate the sheer menace of Horde Prime would be all consuming in any other circumstance. Their world would be made as bleak as all others, because they never took anything serious until it was too late. No one should be surprised that Adora just charges in, She's been this reckless of Season 1, and even though, she's not she-ra anymore however, she still has plot armor. Then thing that irks me about the doll is he identity is well known so there's a lot lost with there, had the writers been better and able to integrate a secret identity, An exchange like "Will she-ra come back" And Adora giving an unsure "I'm sure she will" could have been impactful, but, they're predicable and we know she'll transform again, it's just a matter of time. Wouldn't a clone have some kind of self-destruction feature and be able to vaporize itself so no plans fall into enemy hands? I doubt Horde Prime wouldn't think of fail-safes if the clones were captured. This just seems like more plot convenience that they capture one and it knows everything they needed to. Catra now thinks that being a bad guy wasn't a good idea, and if it wasn't for again Plot armor. A more competent team could of had Horde Prime play on Catra treacherous nature only agreeing to be his pawn until she thinks she could usurp him, and then when she decides to execute insurrection, stop her just as she starts her plan. He can then play with her, telling her she was just a puppet on string and took ever crumb he fed her until she was caught in the mouse trap he laid out, humiliating her and ultimately making her feel so utterly defeated before him as she cowers for her life for him to tell her "No." and then have her meet the fate her choices brought her. But.... We all knew nothing like that would happen. Since Season 1, the ending was predicable, I've said it many times. This series was a complete waste of potential, had they had better writers, it might of actually been decent, but this will be a flash in the pan. Most of the fans are have pretty much moved on, they "loved" the show so much, now that it's over they seem to not care about it.
Wated potential wouldn't be as bad as it is if they didn't have 5 seasons to actually develop their story. But even with all those episodes the characters don't learn anything untill this season when the writers decided that Catra should be redeemed, that's just cheap.

I hope your sister feels better soon. Don’t worry too much about scheduling, your physical and mental well-being should always take top priority. I’m glad we finally have a properly threatening villain, no matter how long it took to get there. Prime kind of feels like what we should have had from the start, particularly his ground forces. While he’s no Ghengis Khan prime at least seems to be able to maintain discipline in his ranks and said ranks can use their numbers, well not competently but passively, to put up a decent fight against the mains. It finally feels like the Princesses can’t just Avatar the Last Airbender their way through Horde’s entire military superstructure and that goes a long way to giving their struggle some teeth. That said, the dialogue of the characters cuts too much tension for my taste. If only one of them was making snarky puns but the rest were downbeat there would be a lot more tension in this opening episode. Since I brought up Avatar it’s worth mentioning that while the Fire Nation could have the occasional silly moment they were still portrayed as ruthless and effective and the Gaang treated them as such. For contrast Mermista snarkily complains about not getting to fight even more robots during a planetary invasion while Avatar saw Aang collapse on the floor after fighting the Northern Fleet and wearily apologize for not making a significant dent in them. Avatar paints a picture of a brutal and overwhelming military that even Kung Fu Action Buddha can not overcome alone while She-Ra makes Horde Prime’s intergalactic invasion seem like high school nerds our popular and athletic heroes can easily dunk on. This episode was a baby step in the right direction but they’re still a billion miles away from their goal.
Once again, we can see neverending problems of this show- empty words and actions mixed with nice moments. They sure talk a lot, which mostly leds to nothing, they do stuff, that usually leds to nothing, and nice moments are made, like ealier talks and actions matters, but these moments do not and can not hold the show on its own. Ealier words and actions must lead to them in a logical way, with proper consequences.
Stevenson and the writers pretty much said it's what they wanted to do and fanfics they like, cementing this just a vanity project with a she-ra skin over it.
I really appreciate how the showrunners stick to their concept: Every time something important to worldbuilding or character development happens, it is offscreen and only mentioned in the passing. Nothing like having a world at war story pushed to the background allowing us to focus on the rekindling of a relationsship between to characters representing the sensitivities of the current time. Pretty sure Mattel is taking notes on this new method of selling merchandise...
Mattel made only about seven action figures for this show, poor quality, the horse is generally a standard Barbie doll. And they didn't sell well. Mattel not only learned a lesson for themselves, they knew in advance where everything was going.

You ladies seem to think that Adora is meant to learn something. Noelle Stevenson hasn't, she was GIVEN this job, because of nepotism, so of course her 'characters' are going to reflect her mentality. After 52 episodes we have ample proof at her lack of skill or even care at story telling.

People either loved it or hated it, which they had their reason to. But there's one moment in the comic that gets to me. Mister Miracle sees the cement hand print of Jack Kirby(his comic creator) and he places his hand on it with Jack's iconic quote "Kid....comics will break your heart." Say what you will about Tom King, but you can see he gave his respect to Jack. Funny how Adora and Scott Free have in common. Spoiler Alert: Kyle got no justice. Sure, they stopped doing mean-spirited shit to him like past seasons, but that's not the same as justice. Justice is about balance. What balance is there in this show? She-Ra herself was supposed to restore or maintain balance in Etheria, but what did that amount to?
Justice is a type of social contract in which certain actions lead to a certain reaction. Like, if you offended someone, the society will force you to apologize or pay compensation. But in this world, the writers agreed that it is okay to humiliate a white man.

Christ. This She-Ra reboot is giving me a headache. People just defend this, because it has LGBTQ representation and NOTHNING ELSE! The writing is crap, the comedy is just down right awful and also inconsitencies are none existent or they never where there.
Those people are weird as heck. There is even an article saying that yxou hate children when you hate the show. Which is preferable over the kind of people defending it because of the underage abuse lesbian relationships and toxic friendships.
It's weird not having the 2 of you. This show is overrated, they skipped too much detail, and it's not funny, Adora still looks and acts the same. There was no intresing rivalry, bad pacing, lazy FILLER. It still attempts and FAILS at comedy in the FINAL SEASON. I really feel bad for fans of the original. It's like they combined SOME of the elements in #AtLA, #TLoK, #VLD, Steven UnevenVerse, the Toddler Titans, Ben 10, BlunderRats Roar, the Lumberjanes, and some content or elements from the original Master of Universe franchise, along with other properties, that they seem to combined them and they made a version, which is somehow just as bad, if not worst in SOME cases. BTW just because I made references to works or properties earlier doesn't mean the work sucks, just SOME of them do. If the person that liked Noelle Stevenson's work so much that they were willing to give She-Ra to her they might as well have given her an original show, like the Lumberjanes instead of She-Ra, which they should of just left She-Ra alone, and let Noelle Stevenson do something separate in the first place. Nobody, would of cared if it was just her own show unrelated to the Masters of the Universe franchise. Also, I know that some people just love this show while others like me hate watch it. Look at Neebs gaming, years ago they made cartoon shorts out of Battlefield 4 that had more solid character development going than this show. Hell, SwamSniper´s Revelations series is literally live action, unscripted gameplay footage that tells more coherent stories! In a SWAMP for crying out loud!

I'm only at like episode 4 or 5 currently at the moment of this specific reply, because I'm trying to stay at the pace of #CrimsonSin, and I don't want to be spoil but I kinda already have been, thanks to YT recommendations, but I don't know if I even care that makes sense, since the show ain't that good. It's predictable, since it's like I stated before, a lesser amalgamation of better or worse (in some cases) shows, or material. But like you said it seems like alphabet shippers are all proud and prev out when characters are put in a alphabet relationship but they couldn't care less if it was a straight relationship, heck they might call a hetro ship inappropriate. It's funny, I wonder if the same people that praised or criticized the original character designs are happy about the shipping because they ironically are happy about a character's sexuality while they said the original characters designs were inappropriate for being too sexual. They also ironically body shamed any women that had bodies like the original too by trying to be body positive, or if God forbid if a female has a big bust, skinny waist, or a big behind (sarcasm). They get upset about the "supposed" straight male gaze only liking the original character designs just for eye candy or the sexual objectification of women but then they perv out about alphabet relationships. They also stereotype alphabet members like the gay or bi female characters in their show by making them Butch or masculine. It's only ok when an alphabet member of the community does something. My bad for any mistakes I may fix later, and for being so long-winded.

I wouldn't be too hopeful with Hoard Prime. While he seems good at the moment, remember what show we're watching and how it handles its villains. He will probably be ruined like all the rest.

This show waits until the FINAL season to up the stakes and even then the characters don't reflect it. Also why does Adora have to relearn lessons she should have learned FOUR seasons ago? Horde Prime is definitely more effective than Hordak. Speaking of which, why did they abandon Bright Moon? Isn't it protected by the Moon Stone?

For a show that's supposed to be about characters they sure aren't interested in character moments. If it were an action show, I'd forgive it. A lot of the action shows I watched as a kid the character stuff was the episodic framing device while the meat of the episode was the action/plot. But this She-Ra isn't an action show either to the point they seem determined to avoid it at all costs. As everyone else has pointed out, it's a ship show, and the writers seem to do best when they focus on Catra, but in context of the rest of the show this too feels flat. It reminds me of those romance novels that are dressed up as fantasy and sci-fi because the romance genre is very hard to get into. The readers who like romance are happy, but fantasy and sci-fi readers, while they may find some good ideas here and there, are generally left bored and disappointed. The audience of new She-Ra isn't children, but you can't advertise it that way so they painted over it with a thin layer of action and sci-fi that everyone can see through. And again, as everyone else has said, were it an original show that would have been fine, but it's not She-Ra, and even the creators didn't want it to be.

The wait is always worth it, and hey health and getting the home situation dealt with is much more important so we understand. As for the video itself, I am not surprised at all at this point that the start of season five is really disappointing. At this point, disappointment is what I expect and little moments of good writing/character growth are a pleasant surprise. That alone speaks volumes of the abysmal writing of this show. Dear lord it HURTS to see all the videos and articles praising this train wreck. Sure the cute moments are cute....if you're just there for the shipping, and don't care about quality writing or the....myriad of questionable subtext within the series. I kinda just want Horde Prime to win and wipe everything out as a proper F-U to this series. I don't want the heroes to win, they're terrible heroes and in some ways questionable people. I shouldn't feel that way, but I do, and if Catra gets an easy-pass redemption- no, no, she will. I have little doubt given the writing of this series, same with Glimmer. She won't get the 'WHAT THE HELL HERO?!" message she deserves, the BFF squad will let it pass. I will be more amazed if they bother to even call her out at all.

I don't get why she thinks she can get away with that. Horde Prime is stronger than Hordak, doesn't have the emotional baggage of love and feelings of inadequacy like Hordak does, and he has a better army than Hordak did. Manipulating Hordak also involved beating him in a fight twice, exploiting a weakness that I assume Horde Prime doesn't have... Not to mention he's seen Hordak's memories and should be able to poke holes in her lies easily. Even if she's part of the Horde, she's clearly rebellious and has no respect for authority.
I feel like the writers really want Catra to be the main villain but also need to a way to excuse her behaviour so that she's easier to redeem, so they just put her misdeeds on being the fault of Hordak, who's misdeeds are now being attributed to Horde Prime for the same reason.
Catra only became good when she faced an opponent stronger then her. That's not a redemption, that's literally being a coward and taking the safest route.
Then again, if the Horde was a more threatening of a force, I wonder how long the alliance would actually last.

She didn't run, she stayed behind, risking her life thinking that without her was the same, which sadly it was actually the truth. Glimmer's words got to her too since she was shocked when Glimmer told her the weapon can destroy the entire universe and made her thinking how bad this is. I don't agree with what Catra did or anything but still she might have been a lot of things but she was not a coward and she is a great character. They handled her redemption well, I read bad reviews about it and some of the writers or content creators seem like they didn't follow her character through the first 4 seasons.

Yeah, this show really seems to excel at being too little too late with just about everything, from character development to plot progression. It shouldn't take 5 seasons, no matter how short each season might be, for them to introduce a proper villain on what is supposed to be a superhero/high fantasy/science fiction show, especially when they had several iconic 80s villains like Hordak & Shadow Weaver to choose from. The show wasted its time on building up Catra like she was the best thing since sliced bread to the detriment of every other character on the show...And from what I've heard (spoilers ahead if you actually care about this terrible show), it seems like its gonna end with her SOMEHOW being redeemed despite her being an unapologetic monster since the beginning. 80s Catra may have spoken with silly feline speech patterns, but at least she OWNED being a villain through and through, none of this "Oh woe is me! I can be as awful as I want because I had a rough childhood" nonsense. Oh, & 80s Catra wasn't a generic catgirl character either, she actually had powers, she could shape-shift into an armored panther!
It took 4 seasons for them to hire a decent writer.

I watched castlevania this weekend and I've learned a few things
1. Castlevania managed to get to the plot in 4 episodes while She ra can't.
2. It's total bullshit that Castlevania has a small episode count.
Castlevania also had a series of lore and (dare say) an icon of the 80's. BTW Castlevania 4's soundtrack and gameplay is sick as hell.

I have to say, Castlevania and She-Ra actually suffer from the same problem, not enough episodes to flesh out the world! The important difference is that Castlevania has not enough episodes in general while She-Ra does not use the time they were granted. Competence: A true game changer.

She-Ra on the other hand has more seasons and episodes than Castlevania yet has done absolutely nothing with them. Hell The Dragon Prince is in the same boat (both The Dragon Prince and Castlevania are on their third season waiting for the 4th) yet both shows managed to tell a more coherent story than She-Ra.

In two season(13 ep each, same as She-Ra) they went into the world building, lore, and the culture of each planet they visited. It was able to get alot done in no more than 26 episodes total, with season 3 being an unlikely chance as of now.
You want to know something funny, Bruce Timm(showrunner for GL and pretty much the man who brought us the DC animated universe.) worked on the original She-ra and He-Man.

Even spoilier: They can not abuse Kyle anymore since he was declared non-heterosexual through Scorpia´s leak, declaring him member of a protected group. Now, one could argue they kept that for the last season so they could use him as a butt of all jokes until they needed the kids no more, but that would imply that the creators are mean people pushing an agenda...
So one of the few named soldiers in the Horde get little to no resolution in the final season. Not counting characters like Catra or Scorpia that don't even where the full soldier armour like the others do.
Come to think of it, what happened to the rest of the regular Horde army? Horde Prime doesn't seem to care for them, and seems to be using his own troops.

Also while you guys are watching this look at horde primes face where theirs dark gray at the base of his chin, for some weird reason they decide to have it jut out when hes at an angle but have it look normal when hes looking at you from the front. Idk why they did it like that.
I say animation error, look at 2:07 where mermista's braid looks like it's gone. Not even a showing of it hanging off of her shoulder like it normally is. I looked back and it seems like something they do normally. It's a common error or intensional choice, either way it's lazy. A few extra circles to indicate a mass of hair shouldn't be that hard and this style is not that complex, it's not as detailed as Avatar and isn't as stylistic as something as OG PPG, it's just.....bland wannabe anime.

Them hiding in this one part of the Whispering Woods seems to be an homage to the original She-Ra, where the rebellion basically had to stay in the forest to avoid being caught by the horde and its magic kept the villains out.
Seems odd that the show waits until the final season to get similar levels of stakes as the 80s show, where it truly felt like the bad guys were in charge of Etheria and the heroes only had a really tiny portion.

It annoys me when Frosta uses her ice gauntlets because it makes no sense (even with sci-fi logic which usually runs fast and loose) that she is able to run with them much less use them in combat.
1. If she has literally just put big chunks of ice on her arms, she needs to have superhuman strength to lift and swing her arms fast enough for them to deal damage. And she hasn't exhibit superhuman strength in any other instance which I can recall so I'm ruling that out.
2. If she doesn't have superhuman strength and is using her cryokinesis to levitate her ice gauntlets to achieve the necessary speed to inflict the damage that they do, that could potentially dislocate/break her arms if she were ever to swing and miss.
3. When she swings and connects, the bones in her hands and arms should be fractured or shattered with each impact.
She could have been like Pete shop or White Album from Jojo where they can send ice projectiles and increase the size or freezing temperature. Would make it easier than going up close and risk getting hit in the face.

Yeah what's going on with the princess' kingdoms? Are they taken over or what? What a way to protect your people. Horde Prime only had one season to be the villain which doesn't leave room for him to make an impression and impact. Hordak had four seasons, I can remember his personality despite being shot multiple times with a six-shooter.
Shadow Weaver and Micah see each other for the first time in years. And we don't see the interaction between them.
I don't understand why Horde Prime would make clones of himself or why any villain would do that. I guess he only sees himself as competent enough to wage wars and command his army. (Hordak)
I think it's just because he's a narcissist with a god complex who thinks only he should have free will and everything should be an extension of himself.
Also, apparently he regularly transfers his mind into new clone bodies to keep himself alive.

Shitloads of clones you can immediately download your entire persona, memories, and personalities into. What better way to ensure immortality? Even if they kill your body, the soul just goes to a new shell. Plus the fact that each clone can feed all it's knowledge and everything it learns to horde prime. There's a reason why The Borg is one of the most terrifying baddies in all of Star Trek and there's a lot of Borg in Horde Primes's collective.

Now, let us be fair, since the showrunners only cared about Catra and Adora bickering, those military things naturally had to be overlooked. In a story about a world wide conflict with two distinct parties. That is not bad for the story or anything, nope, no chance that turns into a trashfire...
Yeah, it feels like there's not much actual tactical play going on here. Just two sides that are attacking whatever point the other side controls. It doesn't help that it always seems to be Adora and her friends fighting these guys off. You don't see a bunch of Princess Alliance soldiers populating these bases once the Horde is gone, or vice versa. They just destroy each other then leave.

*Short Version:* They wrote Hordak out of being the villain just so they could redeem him but still have stakes. The writers care more about their life lessons than they do the quality of the story, so they introduce a new threat to pin all the problems on so that they can redeem all the villains without the audience getting upset.
*Long Version:* I feel like the writers really wanted to have Catra as the main villain, but they also needed a more serious villain to pin the blame on so that Catra can be redeemed. One would think that would be Hordak, but then they wanted to redeem him, so they introduce a completely new villain a little over one season away from the end of the show. Yes I know that they mentioned Horde Prime before, but to have the supposed big bad never fight the protagonist directly, and replace him with someone who hasn't even been observing the events that took place prior to their arrival feels like a way of writing the antagonist out of his role. All so that they can redeem these characters while still having the stakes high enough for the audience to care what's going on. Because despite being for them and their friends, this is still a "children's show", and thus needs cool things to keep the kids watching since the kids either won't pickup on, or won't care about what greater message this show is trying to give about our society.
Hordak did raise Adora, and was basically like a foster father to her. It's understandable that she wouldn't want him dead, and vice versa.

based off these reviews I would side with Hordak over Catra. Hordak was basically taught his whole life people were inferior so naturally he would not show concern for life. that is very different from someone who did understand people's lives and yet did crap anyways.
Reminds me of Discord's redemption in My Little Pony. it was basically he never experienced caring for others in his entire life.
Best Point: If Catra knew she could take over the horde, she would. Yes she would, and those who don't watch this series with blinders on know it's true.

I don’t understand why they needed to take the characters of She-ra to make this show. It’s not a bad show per say, I mean they suck at telling you anything, showing you anything, and bring up 9 million plot points that tend to never go anywhere or be answered, but makes for a good couples getting together story...kinda...I mean if you are okay with people totally over looking doing bad things to each other............I am TRYING to come up with good points!

Because the people who greenlight shows saw exactly what you saw: A piece of badly balanced storytelling that lacks the potential to draw a starting audience. Stevenson's name is mainstream only since it is attached to She-Ra, nobody would have bothered watching the hot new show by the inventor of Lumberjanes. Well, outside of a hand full of tumblerinas who might have already migrated to the next big thing representing an even more fashionable kind of diveresity since that is all over the comic industry today and not a niche anymore. They understood that plastering a known franchise on the show was the only chance to get it off the ground since those come with a build in audience, to be used as soil to grow attention out of. Add to that these people have no long time interest in the value of a franchise that might land somewhere else, showrunners who feel insulted by being forced to use an old franchise to cover up their own concept and there you have it: The perfect recipe for a show that will cost millions and only resonate with a small group of potential customers.
Writers that don't get their personal projects picked up typically work on established brands and use their stories there instead. So instead of making stories that fit the world they've been hired to write for they change the canon so they can make the story they wanted but no one cared to give them the funds to do.

That is bad enough, but even their own story can’t carry a tune! I think back to both my high school classes and Collage classes, if I had written a story like this the teacher would have RIP-ED it so hard that they would have BEGGED me to copy someone else’s story and give it a passing D! I won’t even get into all kinds of wrong that is in itself but would be better than the 5 seasons of pure wasted ANYTHING!

@@catnipaddict9418 So am I(more of a graphic designer but I've love drawing). The only design I actually like is Entrapta's but that is more of the exception, every one else lacks some depth that it makes them look weird and those moments of animation errors does not help.
I feel that in terms of the art, that it all looks pretty flat. There's not a lot of shading or lineart to convey body definition, depth, or material type, so everything just looks pretty plain. Like how Catra's tiara thing is metallic (though I think it shattered like glass once?), but it just looks like plastic or fabric because there's no kind of shine on it or anything. Heck, Scorpia's exposed flesh on her arms makes her claws look like they're just being worn over regular hands. I can't tell her clothes apart from her scorpion parts.
Putting this first because it's the most important: the fact they break down so easily when faced with Horde Prime really shows just how easy they've had it and why Catra was able to worm her way up the ranks of Etheria's Horde. To them it really was all just a game. A game they played with lives and look where that got them. If this show, at this rate the sheer menace of Horde Prime would be all consuming in any other circumstance. Their world would be made as bleak as all others, because they never took anything serious until it was too late.
No one should be surprised that Adora just charges in, She's been this reckless of Season 1, and even though, she's not she-ra anymore however, she still has plot armor. Then thing that irks me about the doll is he identity is well known so there's a lot lost with there, had the writers been better and able to integrate a secret identity, An exchange like "Will she-ra come back" And Adora giving an unsure "I'm sure she will" could have been impactful, but, they're predicable and we know she'll transform again, it's just a matter of time.
Wouldn't a clone have some kind of self-destruction feature and be able to vaporize itself so no plans fall into enemy hands? I doubt Horde Prime wouldn't think of fail-safes if the clones were captured. This just seems like more plot convenience that they capture one and it knows everything they needed to.
Catra now thinks that being a bad guy wasn't a good idea, and if it wasn't for again Plot armor. A more competent team could of had Horde Prime play on Catra treacherous nature only agreeing to be his pawn until she thinks she could usurp him, and then when she decides to execute insurrection, stop her just as she starts her plan. He can then play with her, telling her she was just a puppet on string and took ever crumb he fed her until she was caught in the mouse trap he laid out, humiliating her and ultimately making her feel so utterly defeated before him as she cowers for her life for him to tell her "No." and then have her meet the fate her choices brought her. But.... We all knew nothing like that would happen. Since Season 1, the ending was predicable, I've said it many times.
This series was a complete waste of potential, had they had better writers, it might of actually been decent, but this will be a flash in the pan. Most of the fans are have pretty much moved on, they "loved" the show so much, now that it's over they seem to not care about it.
Wated potential wouldn't be as bad as it is if they didn't have 5 seasons to actually
develop their story.
But even with all those episodes the characters don't learn anything untill this season when the writers decided that Catra should be redeemed, that's just cheap.

I’m glad we finally have a properly threatening villain, no matter how long it took to get there. Prime kind of feels like what we should have had from the start, particularly his ground forces. While he’s no Ghengis Khan prime at least seems to be able to maintain discipline in his ranks and said ranks can use their numbers, well not competently but passively, to put up a decent fight against the mains. It finally feels like the Princesses can’t just Avatar the Last Airbender their way through Horde’s entire military superstructure and that goes a long way to giving their struggle some teeth.
That said, the dialogue of the characters cuts too much tension for my taste. If only one of them was making snarky puns but the rest were downbeat there would be a lot more tension in this opening episode. Since I brought up Avatar it’s worth mentioning that while the Fire Nation could have the occasional silly moment they were still portrayed as ruthless and effective and the Gaang treated them as such. For contrast Mermista snarkily complains about not getting to fight even more robots during a planetary invasion while Avatar saw Aang collapse on the floor after fighting the Northern Fleet and wearily apologize for not making a significant dent in them. Avatar paints a picture of a brutal and overwhelming military that even Kung Fu Action Buddha can not overcome alone while She-Ra makes Horde Prime’s intergalactic invasion seem like high school nerds our popular and athletic heroes can easily dunk on. This episode was a baby step in the right direction but they’re still a billion miles away from their goal.
Still praying for M. Do what you can. We’ll wait.
Horde Prime is a pretty good villain which should have been introduced earlier.

Once again, we can see neverending problems of this show- empty words and actions mixed with nice moments. They sure talk a lot, which mostly leds to nothing, they do stuff, that usually leds to nothing, and nice moments are made, like ealier talks and actions matters, but these moments do not and can not hold the show on its own. Ealier words and actions must lead to them in a logical way, with proper consequences.

Stevenson and the writers pretty much said it's what they wanted to do and fanfics they like, cementing this just a vanity project with a she-ra skin over it.
I really appreciate how the showrunners stick to their concept: Every time something important to worldbuilding or character development happens, it is offscreen and only mentioned in the passing. Nothing like having a world at war story pushed to the background allowing us to focus on the rekindling of a relationsship between to characters representing the sensitivities of the current time. Pretty sure Mattel is taking notes on this new method of selling merchandise...
Mattel made only about seven action figures for this show, poor quality, the horse is generally a standard Barbie doll. And they didn't sell well. Mattel not only learned a lesson for themselves, they knew in advance where everything was going.

You ladies seem to think that Adora is meant to learn something. Noelle Stevenson hasn't, she was GIVEN this job, because of nepotism, so of course her 'characters' are going to reflect her mentality. After 52 episodes we have ample proof at her lack of skill or even care at story telling.
The only reason Noelle gotten this show was because a producer liked her comic. That's all

you know what got me thinking, people feel like Tom King's version of Mister Miracle was the one got people interested in him again(he kind of did for, actually got me interested in the character and his history). People either loved it or hated it, which they had their reason to. But there's one moment in the comic that gets to me. Mister Miracle sees the cement hand print of Jack Kirby(his comic creator) and he places his hand on it with Jack's iconic quote "Kid....comics will break your heart."
Say what you will about Tom King, but you can see he gave his respect to Jack.

@@filipmaly6603 But the ships in Star Wars have hangar doors, they close when the shield generator goes down. That's why the doors are needed, the shield will break due to power outages or because of a generator breakdown and so on, but the door will always be there.

Spoiler Alert: Kyle got no justice. Sure, they stopped doing mean-spirited shit to him like past seasons, but that's not the same as justice. Justice is about balance. What balance is there in this show? She-Ra herself was supposed to restore or maintain balance in Etheria, but what did that amount to?
Justice is a type of social contract in which certain actions lead to a certain reaction. Like, if you offended someone, the society will force you to apologize or pay compensation. But in this world, the writers agreed that it is okay to humiliate a white man.

Christ. This She-Ra reboot is giving me a headache. People just defend this, because it has LGBTQ representation and NOTHNING ELSE! The writing is crap, the comedy is just down right awful and also inconsitencies are none existent or they never where there.
Those people are weird as heck. There is even an article saying that yxou hate children when you hate the show. Which is preferable over the kind of people defending it because of the underage abuse lesbian relationships and toxic friendships.

It's weird not having the 2 of you. This show is overrated, they skipped too much detail, and it's not funny, Adora still looks and acts the same. There was no intresing rivalry, bad pacing, lazy FILLER. It still attempts and FAILS at comedy in the FINAL SEASON. I really feel bad for fans of the original. It's like they combined SOME of the elements in #AtLA, #TLoK, #VLD, Steven UnevenVerse, the Toddler Titans, Ben 10, BlunderRats Roar, the Lumberjanes, and some content or elements from the original Master of Universe franchise, along with other properties, that they seem to combined them and they made a version, which is somehow just as bad, if not worst in SOME cases. BTW just because I made references to works or properties earlier doesn't mean the work sucks, just SOME of them do.
If the person that liked Noelle Stevenson's work so much that they were willing to give She-Ra to her they might as well have given her an original show, like the Lumberjanes instead of She-Ra, which they should of just left She-Ra alone, and let Noelle Stevenson do something separate in the first place. Nobody, would of cared if it was just her own show unrelated to the Masters of the Universe franchise. Also, I know that some people just love this show while others like me hate watch it. It seems that a lot of the praise for this show is just for the alphabet themes instead of focusing on other aspects of the show.

I'm only at like episode 4 or 5 currently at the moment of this specific reply, because I'm trying to stay at the pace of #CrimsonSin, and I don't want to be spoil but I kinda already have been, thanks to YT recommendations, but I don't know if I even care that makes sense, since the show ain't that good. It's predictable, since it's like I stated before, a lesser amalgamation of better or worse (in some cases) shows, or material. But like you said it seems like alphabet shippers are all proud and prev out when characters are put in a alphabet relationship but they couldn't care less if it was a straight relationship, heck they might call a hetro ship inappropriate. It's funny, I wonder if the same people that praised or criticized the original character designs are happy about the shipping because they ironically are happy about a character's sexuality while they said the original characters designs were inappropriate for being too sexual. They also ironically body shamed any women that had bodies like the original too by trying to be body positive, or if God forbid if a female has a big bust, skinny waist, or a big behind (sarcasm). They get upset about the "supposed" straight male gaze only liking the original character designs just for eye candy or the sexual objectification of women but then they perv out about alphabet relationships. They also stereotype alphabet members like the gay or bi female characters in their show by making them Butch or masculine. It's only ok when an alphabet member of the community does something. Horde Prime is the only decent villain in the show. He is also the only character I actually like to see on screen.
Well as far as I saw he is the only one who anatomical works the best, too. But I am still pissed that they made him so humanoid instead of the giant beast from whome you just see one hand because he is so huge.

Avatar TLA did a Fantastic job showing a world at war and the consequences. This show waits until the FINAL season to up the stakes and even then the characters don't reflect it.
Also why does Adora have to relearn lessons she should have learned FOUR seasons ago?

Moon stone doesn't work without Glimmer, and Glimmer doesn't work in principle.

I personally like the new She-Ra, but i also like watching reviews, thats why i watch yours.
For a show that's supposed to be about characters they sure aren't interested in character moments. If it were an action show, I'd forgive it. A lot of the action shows I watched as a kid the character stuff was the episodic framing device while the meat of the episode was the action/plot. But this She-Ra isn't an action show either to the point they seem determined to avoid it at all costs. As everyone else has pointed out, it's a ship show, and the writers seem to do best when they focus on Catra, but in context of the rest of the show this too feels flat. It reminds me of those romance novels that are dressed up as fantasy and sci-fi because the romance genre is very hard to get into. The readers who like romance are happy, but fantasy and sci-fi readers, while they may find some good ideas here and there, are generally left bored and disappointed.
The audience of new She-Ra isn't children, but you can't advertise it that way so they painted over it with a thin layer of action and sci-fi that everyone can see through. And again, as everyone else has said, were it an original show that would have been fine, but it's not She-Ra, and even the creators didn't want it to be.

Not saying breather episodes aren't needed but they shouldn't be coming in so often and at the expense of major events being glossed over off-screen- huge "show, don't tell" problems

The wait is always worth it, and hey health and getting the home situation dealt with is much more important so we understand. As for the video itself, I am not surprised at all at this point that the start of season five is really disappointing. At this point, disappointment is what I expect and little moments of good writing/character growth are a pleasant surprise.
That alone speaks volumes of the abysmal writing of this show. Dear lord it HURTS to see all the videos and articles praising this train wreck. Sure the cute moments are cute....if you're just there for the shipping, and don't care about quality writing or the....myriad of questionable subtext within the series.
I kinda just want Horde Prime to win and wipe everything out as a proper F-U to this series. I don't want the heroes to win, they're terrible heroes and in some ways questionable people. I shouldn't feel that way, but I do, and if Catra gets an easy-pass redemption- no, no, she will. I have little doubt given the writing of this series, same with Glimmer. She won't get the 'WHAT THE HELL HERO?!" message she deserves, the BFF squad will let it pass. I will be more amazed if they bother to even call her out at all.
