  • You can purchase or find additional information about the Trex 450 Pro at this link: www.horizonhobby.com/Products/...
    In recent years Align helicopters have set the standard for quality and performance. Their new Trex 450 Pro introduces some new ideas like the shaft driven tail rotor and rigid box fuselage components. The Pro is not just a remarked Trex 450 but rather builds on the strong points of previous designs and introduces a new level of performance to the 450 size helicopter market. It is the standard for others to follow. Our video will assemble the Trex Pro and give you a chance to see just how they designed it. Assembly is very quick but I think most people will spend a couple evenings setting it up and fine tuning the radio/gyro installation. The tail rotor shaft drive is very simple to install and results in a totally drag free setup. When completed this heli is vibration free, very quiet, and perfectly responsive to control inputs.
    You might think I am exuberant about this Trex and I think our video will display that as well so please forgive me, this really is a step forward in RC helicopter development!
    Features:
    Simple and lightweight design provides awesome flight performance and extreme 3D capability
    Beautiful factory painted fiberglass canopy
    Center of gravity of battery tray designed close to the rotor head
    Shaft Drive tail rotor system
    Super combo includes brushless motor/ESC, gyro, and four servos

    Great job with the video Jim =). My brother and I are great Align fans, and glad that Horizon is carrying them.

    @RoboTekno That is a good point. We are limited in these videos to 10 minutes and I felt that anyone building a heli of this skill level probably knows he should take assemblies apart and add thread locker (inclluded in the kit) to all the metal to metal fasteners. Just wasn't time. You are right for sure.

    I just got one of these given to me through a death in the family. First heli. Decided to learn, was hovering it off the ground and that, probably got an hour of spinup time. The rotors let loose and one hit me in the leg. A screw came loose. Thank goodness I didn't learn enough to have it at eye level. Using 450xl version 1.

    It took me about 3 months to put my TRex 450 together. It is not the Pro version (uses a belt for the tail rotor) but most of the parts appear to be the same. In other words, this video is very high level unless he purchased a kit that someone had already mostly completed.

    @HorizonRCdotCom The 450 Pro Combo is what we used here but the 450 Pro itself might appeal to people who have all the servo, gyro, speed control stuff. Click the "more info" link and see them on our site.

    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jauchiu It seems expensive but just subtracting the price of the Gyro makes it look pretty good, The premium speed control and digital (metal cased!) servos are not inexpensive themselves! So it really is not as bad as you might think at first glance.

    You forgot to add that using blue thread locker on all screws is cardinal rule #1!!!!

    Every nut bolt screw needs cleaning with degreaser and lock tite added sparingly if you don't want to wear the rotating parts and if you are unsure clean and lock in place. No lock tite on plastic and be very careful around plastic parts it will destroy it absolutely no exemptions forget one you lose it in the perfect storm you wear it

    @Vik13vik I'll try in the near future. How about a scale body installation on the 450? I'm liking the Align Hughes 500 body?

    @HorizonRCdotCom I like this heli a lot! Is it a good FIRST heli to build? And You said it is complete.. But you don't mention a receiver. You need that yourself i guess?
    If yes, what Spektrum receiver would you recommend?

    Will fly nice for 5 mins then all the screws will fall out and and the unbraided servo leads will be cut to shreds. Nice Job.

    Hi there;
    I just bought a Trex 450 Pro 2nd hand.
    Previous owner flew it once and broke both blades, bent blade mounts, linkages, etc, AND chewed up the gear on the front tail drive.
    (I got it for peanuts, though.... $50, including the DX6I and 2 batteries !!!)
    Any tips on how to replace the front tail drive?.... Looks pretty.. .set-in....

    @SlicTrix101 you are right that he needed loctite, but the bearing is not needed for short torque tubes. and to be honest if you REALLY want to see how he assembled the whole thing you're at the wrong place. this is more of an overview otherwise watch something like mrspeedy01

    I need some help setting up ALZRC 450 Pro v2 FBL, got a WFLY 7 Channel Reciever with Transmitter, do you have any experience with ALZRC? I need a guide to show how to hook up wiring with the Gyro on it , 3 axis 3GY v2 Gyro, and to my reciever, thanks.

    You guys may want to consider doing a video with at least a V2 450 Pro which itself is outdated. Also, it would behoove the individuals making this type of video to go into a bit more detail. For example, stating that the head, tail components, etc are pre-assembled at the factory leads people to believe that those items are ready to install and fly as is which could be very unsafe. At the very least you should say that the components must be disassembled & cleaned with loctite applied.

    Looks like a very good machine. But why is a Horizon Rep touting an Align Heli? Are the companies related ? Now I want that Heli instead of another Blade product. Now that I've repaired my B 450 3d several times I'm prepared to take on a kit project. This may be it or an Align 500 X. Jim is a good salesman. LOL.

    Loctite and ca applications are missing. These are very important steps left out. Many builders even recommend the head be taken apart to verify for loctite. This video is a bit misleading.

    Where's your locktight?

  • @numex106
    @numex106 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah, it should be like "an overview of the assembly process" get the main ideas with some tips and tricks. you fill in the details from the manual. Otherwise it would take like half an hour

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  10 ปีที่แล้ว

    We would not recommend something like this as a first helicopter. You'll want to start with a smaller coaxial or quad copter like the Blade mCX2 or the Nano QX. These will teach you the basics you need to fly something like this.

    I think he was just doing a quick overview, nothing in depth. The wiring set up is sloppy. There are other videos that show the proper way to route the wiring. I just picked up an Align Pro heli in trade for an Extra 300. I plan on disassembling the whole thing as I have no idea what was done concerning thread lock. Also I am going through the basic set up and adjustments on this BEFORE I even THINK of flying it. Check out freddy can fly videos guys, he is the best on how to build and set up the Slign models.

  • @rollafatonedude

    not the best build video missing loads of vital bits like thread lock and stuff. connect the links on the swash then he tried to put main gear in . i noticed he undid the swash balls so he could lift the main shaft up to get the main gear in . hope he thread locked them after wards

    Well, Let me put it this way: I believe you are wrong in assuming that only experienced rc pilots will watch this video, which in your opinion entitles you to never mention to use loctite, that this helicopter is actually dangerous and requires attention when building it. Horizon Hobby has quite a lot of authority in the RC world, and if I was a beginner, I would have built mine like Jim built his, and exploded my heli in mid air.
    This is not a mCPX, you have to know what you are doing with it.
