For all you idiots saying its slow, the day before we filmed it the clutch started slipping like crazy and i didn't have time to buy a new one and fit it before we filmed. I don't think i ever went over half throttle in the video. Also i know the turbo is way to big for the engine, but its all i could afford at the time of building and it was alot bigger than advertised
Is this the 1.8 zetec? I was thinking of getting a mk1 focus 1.8 zetec and doing a turbo conversion on it. A company in telford actually do these conversions and the results are 245bhp and 250ftlbs torque in a focus that weighs 1090kg which is lighter than the new ford fiesta at 1262kg so much better power to weight ratio and I just love the mk1 focus's for some reason. I've had a few of them.
What car/year did that intake manifold come out of? I want an aluminum intake manifold for my build but every Zetec powered focus/contour/mercury I have seen have plastic intake manifold
LSX Ranger its from a fiesta rs turbo or escort xr3i, it needs an adaptor plate to fit to a zetec head, alternatively there is an aluminium zetec inlet manifold which flows better, search for a zetec HO inlet manifold, oh and whatever you do with your build, dont use a decompression plate and standard pistons absolute bodge
Great car , great work . But never ever 250/300 Bhp with a Decomp plate and bolt on turbo. To run that safe it would be low boost and not even touch 200 .dont know where that figure came from.that turbo ain’t even rated 300bhp . You’d melt them pistons to if it ain’t set up correct . Just read comment about clutch . But you got limiter . 🤷🏻♂️ just enjoy the boost and noise , don’t kill it ❤️
Dude the cars not even been mapped properly yet, its just on a slightly tweaked base map, limiter is set at 4.7k so its not hard to hit the limiter. Also if you knew anything about 2.0 zetec turbo you would know that even at 10psi they can make around 250bhp and at the time of filming it was only boosting to like 3psi before the clutch slipped.
So it’s not 250 Bhp then at 3psi 👌 you just said your self .also if limiters set that low and you hit it , you’ve run it at full power ... simple at the time
I've ran over 250 on the same turbo on a MK1 frs blacktop with a blow through carb setup in a Capri. Those Chinese turbos do perform half decent. Even if they don't last too long. They're good while they do. And I've known alot of zetecs with decomp plate running a safe 250bhp. In fact I'm building a st170 with decomp plate now with a safe 300bhp goal.
"It doesn't want to go in a straight line at all" wouldn't be a great selling line!. Collecting scenery doesn't help your bank balance or insurance any good!!
Sorry, out of all the modifications that can be done that fiesta look a pile of thrown away scrap. Look at some Nova Conversions from the Calibre now that's some workmanship. Call that a Project in progress. The Actual Fiesta SI with the Zetec was a good looking Car, add the Turbo to that.
