It is 3:34 or 3:35 am; he’s trying to write a song but is experiencing writer’s block. In the days of actual clocks, it was customary after the half hour mark to call the time as “20 ‘til” the next hour rather than 40 after current one. Chicago is awesome! Thanks.

Yes, Hendrix once famously said that Terry Kath, the guitarist for the band Chicago, was a better guitar player than him. Hendrix made a comment after seeing Chicago perform in 1969. He was reportedly so impressed by Kath's playing that he immediately went backstage to meet him.

These are what are called musician, pretty rare in American music nowadays. Far too many claiming the title cant play an instrument, cant sing without autotune, cant write a song, couldnt write an arrangement if their life depended on it. Its all fluff and FX and studio fixes. You judged Terry Kath on his clothes and was surprised that he could play. The biggest stars today for the mot part are doing pitiful pop with a lot of ass-shaking, hoping that you wont notice. WTF does how he dresses have to do with anything?

Since you asked... "I'm A Man", "Make Me Smile", "Colour My World", "Free", "Lowdown", "Saturday in the Park", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "Fancy Colours". These are all from Phase I Chicago. When Terry Kath died the band's sound changed and so Phase I ended. Phase II is a softer sound.

It tells about his life and the band, he was much more than one of the great guitarists. The documentary also talks about his death a week before his 32nd birthday when he shot himself in the head with a gun he thought wasn’t loaded.

Awesome, back to when they made real music. If you like horn sections try Blood Sweat & Tears to get your fix.
So the story for this songs like this. They were recording a new album and needed one more song because they were going in to record in the morning. This song is Robert Lamm sitting around trying to write a song and couldn't come up with anything so he just started writing down what he was doing at that time and when he looked at the clock it was 25 or 26 minutes to 4 o'clock in the morning. This song just happened to become their big hit off the album. Terry Katt was the shit on the guitar.

Back in the mid to late 60s until about 1973 about 99% of men in this country had very short hair, I mean no hair over the ears or touching the collar, you could not even get a job with long hair back then, so this was considered real antisocial behavior back in the day, but the girls loved it! Why do you think men grew their hair long and started playing in a band? It wasn't to impress the men!

Go dig up their debut album when they were known as The Chicago Transit Authority and play these two tracks: "Introduction" and "Poem 58". Guitar player Terry Kath wrote "Introduction" and sang lead vocals. He was called "The White Ray Charles" by his bandmates. Soulful baritone voice! "Poem 58" is nine minutes of PURE FUNK led by Terry Kath on guitar, Danny Seraphine on drums, and Peter Cetera on bass. Kath's guitar will have you needing an ice pack for your jaw after you pick it up from the floor! th-cam.com/video/j8aJiLUaWGI/w-d-xo.html
When they were "The Chicago Transit Authority", they were the house band at the Whisky a Go Go in LA. One night between sets, Jimi Hendrix, who was in the audience, went to their dressing room after catching their first set. He walked up to their sax player Walt Parazaider and said, "You guys have a horn section that sounds like one set of lungs and a guitar player that's better than me! You wanna go on the road?" They said "YEAH!". And that's how they became Hendrix's opening act on a national arena tour.

In the '90's the band told a story about staying up to the wee hours of the morning "six to four" presumably meaning six minutes to 4AM. Growing up in Chicago when this album came out we heard a different story. The question was whether to do another 25 micrograms of acid and stay awake or take a Quaalude to sleep. Quaaludes had a 624 stamped on one side.
