LED desk lamp made from wood shavings

- I started by making a few hundred shavings from 10mm thick spruce board I usually use for laminating arched beams. I let them soak in water over night to soften them so they become less brittle and easier to weave. For weaving i made a simple holder from wooden clothespins.
After weaving, I put the weave in between boards to flatten them as they dry over night. For a box frame I used leftover thermally treated beach slats. After straightening them and planing them to measure, I cut them by 45° and glued them together. In between each frame i glued dry weave pre cut to measure. Each frame is then beveled by 45° and glued to each other with help of some ordinary box tape. Base is made from leftover mahogany. LED lamp is fastened to base using screws and chord is fed trough center hole. Base is then secured to the rest of the lamp also with screws.

Nice lamp and very detailed progress. only thing that i would do differently is use some led strips in stead of a bulb. thisway you can make the light have an even light distribution (running the strip from top to bottom). in this case you see clairly where the bulb is located.
You are right, I thought about using strips but it was weekend, the stores were closed and I had this bulb lying around so I said what the hell.. It would look better with strips..

I'm planning on carve the blacked squares with the router then carve the borders with the chisel, then i'll shape the squares like cones. I hope it works.

Did you really need instructions after watching this video? I found it very easy to replicate.
