How about this? A toy RC plane that can take off vertically, transition to flight, and then transition back to hover to land...and it's EASY to fly! A great demo by the pilot.

I was given this "plane" by a club mate and OMG it's so fun. The only complaint it has a very short flight time.
I'd love to have VTOL electric motors for the tips of my hang glider's wings. This could also have self-flying capabilities which would enable anyone to learn to fly and prevent crashes too.

☠️BLACK BARON☠️ 2:21 The "Farthwind" and speed is not sufficient for the wings to kick fully in. If you make the 90° transition a little bit "smoother" it should work more elegantly. The flaps are kicking in too early and too fast. The speed+tiltrotor angle+flaps need to be in perfect "sync". Donno if there are RC software developers who have developed a gyro for this stuff yet. However, you proved it works ... and already quite smoothly.

Isn't it bad to have the engines aligned like that? The back props won't have much air to push as it is just moving air from the front engines... Would it be possible to have one set moved closer to the fuselage?
Like the Curtis Wright X19 made in the 1960's. But it was ahead of it's time, no software, all mechanical bits to go wrong and as many mechanical break-downs. lol

I am curious, if he were to lose one engine, would he still be able to make a vertical landing?
That is highly unlikely; the controller would basically have to kill the power to one of the opposite rotation motors to stop the torque reaction. That would leave you at 50% of the maximum thrust and the all-up-weight is likely to be more than that (untested)
You really need 6 or motors for a high chance of a successful landing following a motor failure.

Anyone know what size battery is fitted in this VTOL. Just bought one and the flight time is only 4 mins before low battery warning.Mine only has a 1300mah

A 4S 1300mAh is normal battery, which is what I was flying with in the video

I looked it up and it's not available in the US...seems the post office in the UK would be too expensive to mail here to the US...not to mention this model isn't cheap! ouch
toddy2519 Not cheap and I'm not surprised actually Todd. 4 motors, 4 ESCs, gyro and quite a bit of R&D went into designing it so I guess they need there money back and some profit.
