Damn I got addicted to her music for a while. That voice is more classic than people who actually lived 100 years ago. The rasp, the resonance, the vibrato and leaning into blue notes easy as talking. She also sounds like some leftover jukebox in a 1900s bar. It's actually crazy. If she would record with old equipment no one would be able to tell the difference between then and now.
I met exactly one person like this, and she was young, black and might as well have been in the wrong timeline. Not a singer, but even the speech and affect were out of time.
