    do you have a video on how you set up? are you quilting a sandwich or a piece of fabric? do you spray baste your sandwich? i love your videos, and can hardly wait to get to it. this video is going to be my fave for a while, i think. thank you so much for posting. what settings do you use?

    • @quiltingnerd

      so far I never made such video. Too much swear words :). I use some safety pins and never spray baste. It never worked good for me and I do not have the space to do it outside. I just pin on a table and smooth a lot. As for the settings, My Janome has some auto-settings. Most of the time I lover the tension a bit. When I use may ruler foot, I have to adjust the height. Seetings are very individual. Batting, fabrics, therad, machine and foot influence the parameters. What I reccomend is to use a 80 or 90 size needle.

    Is that a regular foot you are using. I have always used. A quilting/darning… foot. Does the regular foot give an advantage? I enjoy the confident relaxed manner in which you demonstrate, thank you for sharing your time and skills

    • @quiltingnerd

      Hi there. I have a gliding quilting foot. It is just above the surface. The daring foot hops and it slows me down, this is why I do not like using it so much. But I will use the hopping foot when I have a lot of seams in my pieced top. Then it is perfect. Otherwise I use either the ruler foot or this one. ❤❤❤

      Welcome to my channel! Thank you for your feedback! The translation should be easy. I never quilted on a long arm but I learned from watching video of long arm quilters. I keep my movement small so the patterns are dual. Have fun and let me know!❤❤❤❤

    Are you using a regular straight stitch foot with the feed dogs dropped? Not a free motion foot?

    • @quiltingnerd

      Hi there, I am not sure I get your question correctly. I always drop my feed dogs when quilting and I use either free motion quilting foot, hooping foot or ruler foot. I assume that by a regular straight stich foot you mean the one we are using for sewing? it goes too low and presses the fabric, then you cannot shift the sandwich under.

    • @cabushka100

      @@quiltingnerd the foot you were using was shaped differently from my quilting feet and didn’t have the hopping spring. It looked like my regular multipurpose foot on my Bernina.

    • @quiltingnerd

      It was open toe gliding free motion foot that came with my Janome. There is another one that looks similar for applique and this one (I think, as I never used it) it supposed to be used in normal sewing mode. I hope that clarifies the issue. I am pretty good quilter but putting a zipper in can be confusing for me. @@cabushka100

    Thank you for this challenge! We recently movEd so as soon as we can get things unpacked I will be working on these designs. Do you have a medical background? “Sinus rhythm “ is a clue.

    • @quiltingnerd

      you are welcome. Quilting will be perfect form of relaxation after moving :). And no, I do not have medical background. I am in physics and engineering 😆. and non destructive testing ❤❤❤. The nerd is not without a reason

    • @quiltingnerd
