After watching him in his ptp at Wexford we tried to buy him of the Bowes but not at the races price wise.Back then he looked a Gold Cup horse that will be almost unbeatable once he tackles 3m+.I do not think 2m over hurdles is what he wants and is way to short a distance for the horse to be seen at his best.He can win the 2019 Champion hurdle as it has been a poor division over the last few years but he won't be carrying my money.
I hope this teaches the "Overhyped and over rated" people of this world that not everything is overhyped and over rated, Just use your eyes, This horse treats a race with such ease it's ridiculous, He shouldn't be able to do what he is doing because he screams chaser all day long and should be slower but he is not, Instead he is putting away anything that dare take him on, He pulls away like a run away freight train, It's just scary
Absolutely! And he can do that because (not many know) he's a 'brother' to Faugheen! And both got an identical RPR of 155. It'll be interested to see where they go here.. Future Gold Cup winner? Or Champion Hurdler? Maybe he can do both! He's that good! :)
Technically you could say he is the brother to Faugheen having the same sire but his mother is different which is the important fact, On that note he wouldn't be Faugheen's brother, I hope Samcro is put away now for his chase career which is what he was bought for, Next year if all goes well he will be RSA bound and then Gold Cup 2020 again if all goes well, He's unlikely to stay over hurdle's due to the plans of the owner and trainer so Champion Hurdle is just a complete non starter
I backed him but it wasn't a spectacular performance,Kennedy had to give him 7 hard whips and what would have been his biggest danger On The Blind Side was a non-runner,btw over 3 miles Next Destination would beat him!!
best young horse of the lot? what an amazing festival, so many new young superstars (Samcro & Laurina in particular). Plus festival regulars Altior, Footpad, Presenting Percy & Native River showing their stuff? The question is who is the best horse in training? I know it's too hard to compare disciplines, but who is the greatest if you had to choose? Probably Altior for me, but then again Native River is tough as nails and in my opinion the best Gold Cup winner since Kauto & Denman. He only was 3rd last year after a gruelling season. He already has a Welsh National, a Hennessy, TWO denmans and now a Gold Cup on his CV! I think connections could potentially fancying winning a National as well in a year or two. Why not complete the sweep! The way he just kept finding with his stamina today against an extremely worthy opponent in Might Bite was exceptional, as good as I've seen stamina wise honestly. Native River & Might Bite were miles clear of the rest, 2 absolute superstars, a race that will be remembered for the ages. I tell you something else though. As great as Samcro & Laurina are, Fayonagh was better than them both. That girl was special and I will never forget her clean sweep of bumpers last year. Tragic how her young career ended so tragically. I was really looking forward to her this season, think she would have smashed that field in the Supreme, no disrespect to Summerville Boy or Kalashnikov. Fayonagh was a rare gem who we lost. The eyes tell you everything and I have never seen a horse dominate like she did in the major bumpers. Anyone, my question. Your top 3 horses in training right now? And who wins Gold Cup 2019?
Sadly a lot of good horses are lost on the gallops, no one's fault it's just something that happen's, Fayonagh looked very special and would of been good competition for Laurina, I still maintain Douvan is the best horse around even though others will no doubt insult me for that, It's always hard to compare one horse with another because like humans animals just are not the same, If you are talking class in recent times then Kauto Star has to be right up their

This is not a champion - it was a sprint race - just look how well the 100/1 & 200/1 shots were going for most of the trip. It was a burn up with black op making 2 big mistakes yet getting close enough. I`ll be taking him on big time against decent hurdlers or chasers. This was a weak renewal.
