    Jim, as far as I'm concerned, you're a rock star. I watched your vid on replacing Santa Fe fuel sensors and lately brake/rotors. Your vids wee awesome. Step by step and showing exactly what's needed. I didn't realize how great your vids were until I googled 2007 Sana Fe front valve cover gasket replacement. I so wish you had a vid of that. As far as I'm concerned, you're the god of Utube DIY auto repair. Thanks for all you do.

    WOW !Rusted on rotors ! We usually don't have that problem here in sunny Florida ! Nice job ! I teach a class in auto safety and maintenance (mostly women) I'll use this video in my class.

    Great video brother 👌🏻 I just recommend that everyone buy a good quality impact screwdriver kit!! I used to tell my techs because the tips on the cheap ones break off in the screw head 😢 and also check the master cylinder people always top off the master and unless you have a leak somewhere the low fluid is an indication your brakes pads are low !!! and if it has been topped off when the tech pushes the caliper bore back all the extra brake fluid is just going to come out the master and make a mess!!!! Cheers 🍺

      You are right about too much fluid and when you push the piston in you have a mess.Thank you for your input and for watching

    Great job on a very informative, well explained DIY video with crystal clear instructions and guidance. My only question is, what would you normally charge a customer to complete this brake and rotor removal and replacement on this type of vehicle? Keep up the great work man! Ill stay tuned!

    Hello Jimthecarguy! Great job on the video, very informative. I have one question tho, those darn screws on the rotors that striped out on me and so I had to drill, I'm wondering just what is the purpose of those screws? I did not replace them.

    Jim, I've seen guys spray something on the surface of the new rotors (where the pads contact) for some reason. Is it a cleaner? Not sure why considering it just a brand new rotor outta the box. Do I need to do this?

    • @NathanLandman
      @NathanLandman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      New rotors usually have a thin layer of oil coating to protect them from rusting. Spraying brake cleaner on new rotors is always a good idea to be sure there's no oil that could impact braking performance.

    Really nice, informative video Jim. Do you know the brand of impact screw driver you used to loosen the screws securing the rotor? I see a few brands sold online: Capri, Lisle, Tekton, Grip, Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh), and more. Dan

      @jimthecarguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one I use is at least 20 years old and it was a Craftsman but the Lisle is very good. Check below my vide to see the tools in my Amazon store. I think there is one in there.Thanks for watching.

    Jim, great video. Thanks for posting it. Question: Do you ever apply anti-seize or something like it to the face of the hub when you replace rotors?

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use very little anti seize or you can buy a spray rust inhibitor at you local parts store.

    Jim what type of grease do you use on your brake jobs what is it called? I've used the red stuff labeled for brakes from auto zone on previous jobs before but not sure it would be good to use on the slide pins.

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Benoit I use a synthetic brake grease.

    Hi JIM, what about blue loctite? and what about checking the piston dust covers? and ive seen people use some brakefluid from the reservoir and squirt some tiny amount with a syringe inside the piston dust boot to give the piston a little slippery coating... and prevent rusting..

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never herd about squirting brake fluid into the dust boot.i would not do that at my shop.I only use the synetic brake lube Thank you for your input and for watching

    • @joachimjohan1215
      @joachimjohan1215 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      do you use synthetic paste/grease/lube inside the piston dust boot? Regards

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i always do and it works perfectly

    • @joachimjohan1215
      @joachimjohan1215 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      COOL, i will put that in the memory box, just have to remenber synthetic not petroleum based that will destroy the cylinder/piston seal and make the caliper leak out all the brakefluid.. Regards:

    also you should bleed the front some times when you push the piston back in you get air trapped in the system always good to bleed

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ithank you for your input but if you don't open the bleeder valve you should be ok

    if you dont have a compression tool for the piston, a C clamp will do.

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use a c clamp but just be careful not to damage the piston on the caliper.
