In their new 1-60 guide, did they incorporate the broken quest chains or were those excluded? That's something you could advertise with, saving players from ACTUAL headaches. The streamlining of quests already saves you tons of time, so it's become a weaker selling point.
Isnt paid addons against blizzard tos? Wouldnt that include promoting it?

One of the simplest ways to speed up archeology is simply knowing how to speed up getting around Azeroth, especially in the prepatch with no Cata portals active.
Want to get to northern Eastern Kingdoms in a hurry? Just complete the EPL questline with Fiona's caravan until the final quest, then just never turn in Journey's End. Now you've got Gidwin's Hearthstone in your bags, which is usable anywhere and teleports you straight to Light's Hope! It even works in combat and isn't interrupted by damage like a normal hearthstone. Abandon the quest when you use it, then pick up a new one by reaccepting it right outside the church.
Southern Eastern Kingdoms? Just grab the Dark Portal teleport in any capital city.
Northern Kalimdor? If you haven't completed the Crusader Bridenbrad questline in Icecrown, you can just leave The Keeper's Favor in your questlog, giving you unlimited teleports to Moonglade from the Argent Vanguard right next to Dalaran. If you're a Druid with Teleport: Moonglade, you can even complete that quest and leave the *next* one uncompleted, giving you free portals *to* Dalaran from Moonglade instead.
Mid Kalimdor? Horde have Orgrimmar right there, but for Alliance, simply avoid completing "Return to Jaina" in Dustwallow and you have a teleport from Stormwind to Theramore whenever you need it.
Southern Kalimdor? Caverns of Time portal in Dalaran.

Arch is hitting a weird dopamine fix for me. Like the thrill of even seeing a rare solve pop up and getting excited to see what it is, is really bloody addicting. Stayed up waaaaay too late in the "After next solve I'm going to see the rare I want, then I'll go to bed"

Gathermate also pairs VERY nicely with farmhud for going to where the different survey areas are since it essentially overlays your minimap over the center of your screen without the actual map part

Gathermate2 + Gathermate2Data + FarmHUD = Farm with easy mode.
I stick to Eastern Kingdoms as a DK.
Hearth to Dal > Port to Org > Blasted Lands for anything south.
Death Gate / UC Port / Gidwin's Hearthstone for anything north.
Repeat.

Finally got the nelf trinket for my druid after getting every other rare. Now there's just the staff, idk if the Tol'Vir ones are worth going for at launch.

I've ALSO heard that if you solve all the possibilities of one faction you receive less of those dig sites.
Ran into a guy last night In a heroic who has the epic sword, asked him how long it took him and he said 3 solves… I didn’t believe him at first but he swore by it.
The probability of at least one success in 300 tries is approximately 77.69% in a single race for example Troll, yet there are people out there with up to 1000 tries who still haven't succeeded and feel like they've gotten the middle finger instead

I got my tanking Epic, i got the Raptor Mount, i hit 450 and am well on the way to getting all the rares i need to secure that sweet sweet 50% bonus digsites in Tol'var
For real, i think there are loottables at work. I am seriously farming for Tyrande's favorite Doll. First week i completed 3 NE Rares and from then on had about 120 solves without any more rare occuring. Right after Wednesday server-restart i got three more within 20 solves, now its stalling again. That Trinket is the last rare and i am pretty sure that i will get it next week.
FarmHud is also a nice addon and speeds up digging by overlaying the minimap over your screen
A question. So even in prepatch even though im 80 i can do archeology and have that level 85 sword drop to use later?

I got my Turtle Shell on like 40th Fossil solve. No sign of dwarven staff yet though, ~300 total solves now and counting.
REALLY feels like there is a dead zone. My friends are either getting their Epic they want at 75 solves or 600+ solves... :( I'm at 198 total solves and 130 Night Elf for the trinket with no luck yet.

i got zinrokh, and selling all tablets/stones/etc have made 18k gold jjust on selling that and grey solves. Working on shield now for off spec

there arent any good archeology guides out there the wowhead one is really lacklustre.
I had 8/8 troll dig sites and no way to solved other races at 200 skill level. So i had to do 1st troll and I immefiatelly got some rare troll solve after. Does that mean im screwed and hope for forcing zinrokh at 450 are gone?
No. It just means you did it it like just about everyone else until people had the idea of kit solving your race at all until 450

I've been trying to get a rare solve on every race but not finishing them other than the one you want to solve. So if I want the troll sword I'll have NE, dwarf, orc etc all on rare solves bit not complete them.

wait, wouldnt you want to do the opposite - level to 450 never solving the ones you want stuff from (so for me, a caster im not solving any dwarf/NE) and then when at 450 you start solving NE/Dwarf for a higher chance of an epic (the stuff you want) in your early solves?
Yea, but you can only have 200 of each type at a time. Storing them when you get close would be good though.
@@Infernoblade1010 im doing this now and i have 200/200 Dwarf/NE and 4 Dwarf sites on EK, 4 NE sites on Kalimdor and am only 150 or so level so cant go Outland lol rip

Yes, he either misspoke or is just wrong: there's literally zero point in leveling to 450 using only the race you want like he says if the whole point you're doing this is to get an epic that only drops after you hit 450 skill. Even if what he meant to say was true though, it would still never be worth it. It takes longer to hit 450 skill while avoiding one or two races than it does to solve 100 projects of the race you need on a character that's already at 450.
i hit 450 on sunday 10am, just been doing dwarf solves for the caster staff. did that for 9hrs on sunday and still nothing, i`m losing the will to live LOL
i got the addon Minimal Archaology, from curiosity...to know how many Discoveries i've done.Well it is like this: Troll x81 / Night ELf x68 / Fosil x 65 and Dwarf x 48...and no 359 discoveries.
Loaded up all of northrend and kalimdor with troll sites. The first 6 site clears I did in eastern kingdom all caused troll sites to spawn.
I discovered most of the rares on every race, except night elf(still need to discover3-4).From troll i miss the sword, Dwarf staff, fosil shield.The other day only i capped troll and dwarf 2-3 times, thats 600 fragments anf got nothing
The reason it's hard is there good it's no thunderfury but imagine if you were making some food cooking and your buff critt (wait that's agood idea).
Did u get item? I thought the same, 50-60 solves and I will get it, now I have 900 solves and still without any of 359 items
blocking dosent work for me i got 4/4 fossil kalimdor and i mostly hitting fossil in kingdoms aswell same for troll 4/4 troll in nortend and still getting alot of troll in kingdoms and i mostly are getting fossil (just because we cant hit the pet yet ..... and im only missing that pet and the staff i wanna kms
How do you see how many solves u done? Has spend like 12 hours a day diging too no epic
Just got my Zin’Rokh last night, just shy of 400 completions & 197 of those were troll completions
Would be cool if they put the 359s on the collection tab. Im sure im not alone in planning on raiding on a warrior and DK and am currently farming a second Zin'rokh so i dont have to reapply landslide every week
I think the "blocking" doesnt work or maybe I understood it wrong, I am looking for the staff so need Dwarf, Kalimdor is NE/fossil, and I still get no Dwarf dig sites in EK more often than not, sadly, its a painful grind
I've gotten the 359 shield from fossil on my dk (which pissed me off) I was spaming troll solve for zinrok and click fossil since i was maxed on fossil fragments to despawn the fossil digsite and BAM shield proc'd for fossil (i dont even have a pally or warrior to even use it, which is kinda depressing)!
What’s killing me is constantly getting Fossil, Dwarf, nerubian, or night elf dig sites on eastern kingdoms. I feel like 1 out of 4 dig sites are troll, so it artificially takes longer to get the chances at solving relics. Being at over 700 is wild, wish there was a pity timer or a literal locking system you could do to force certain digsites. Especially since Cata is accelerated. It should take effort, but wasting away on the prepatch feels bad. It is what it is.

I think im like 150 solves into troll and fossil each. Gotten everything else except the 2h sword and Shield. Pretty much given up now tbh though
Creating a new archaeology on a alt and saving the one you need for lvl 450 having that extra chance as a first discovery could be the last resort, il keep going on main and see how it goes
It's never worth it. Even at a sub 1% droprate for the archeology epics, it takes longer to hit 450 archeology and grind an additional 10+ solves for the target race than it does to just grind 100 solves on that race for a character that is already capped.
I got the sword from TB rep, I never struggled with TB rep , so I skipped archaeology entirely back in the day
Where can you see total solves?
2 chars 450, on the second one I saved all troll fregmants for after hitting 450. About 400 troll solves on both combined. Nothing. Friends got it as their first rare solve... And I already got the dwarf hearthstone 3 times... No epics.
What is the advantage of doing Arch. I seen someone maxed it out and got a legendary sword or something, but it’s only level 60, what’s the big deal about level 60 weapon?.. just curious, thanks
@@switchfoot8702 You can get lvl 85 weapons/trinkets with item level 359 which are pre-bis, or even BiS for many classes in Cata.
@@switchfoot8702 It's not lvl 60. The epics from Archaeology are Pre-raid bis 359 ilvl epics. They can only be equipped at lvl 85 and they're bind on account.
I am one of the lucky ones, once I hit 450 I got Zin'rokh after 2-3 troll solves and the Staff after 4-5 Dwarf. Also have the Raptor mount queued up and got some of the toys/pets while leveling.

I don't remember arch being that bad. Yeah it's annoying but when you zero it in, it's not bad
I farmed Seeds last patch of retail for Augment Rune in the first week, it was atrocious, but it has absolutely NOTHING on this grind hahahaha absolutely horrid.
Grinds kill wow for me. I just log in, do what I want to have fun while im on, then move on. People spend way too much killing themselves not having fun for purple pixels that last weeks.
Got my sword after something like 75 troll solves. I heard that your chances for an epic are higher after solving a blue, which I refuse to try and test
I leveled a second archaeologist, didn't solve a single dwarf or troll solve, then solved about 50 of each at 450. The only rares I got were the blue toys, pets that I already had. Did not seem to have any effect on getting the sword or staff for me.
just for fun, i leveled an alt and got the sword and the staff within 5 solves each. i trashed both since i already had them on my main.
well the fragment cap/faction is 200 so you can only solve like ~6 at best when you hit 450
@@nagybotond713 I was referring to the section at 3:10 where Scott's talking about "the first x amount of solves" has a higher chance when you first hit 450. I'd seen this in several other videos, and I think it's false information. While some folks had luck doing this, others haven't. similarly to the rest of folks fishing for the epics at any level.

have found trinket but no staff yet ive gotten every other rare item from dwarf so next one is staff but no luck yet, i keep digging other sites to spawn dwarf but seems like troll is only spawning consistently and its frustrating. pre patch been good so far cant wait to top the heals as druid, cata is the resto druid season only class to compete is disc but we all know disc is not a healer

I've been using it to farm gold, selling every rune stone. If the epics proc cool, if not I've gotten a mountain of gold.
So far I've gotten all of fossel but the 525 pet and am down to the staff and sword for dwarf and troll.
I haven't moved to the Northrend races yet. But did go get the orc helm for tmog.
It will be the next solve.....

1,128 solves and today i finaly got my 1. 359 epic (shield) all my guildies got epic under 200 GL!

After solving 6 rares, the chances drops a lot. Try a new character, make sure u only solve 2 or 3 rares on the way and then just solve w/e u need and ull have more chances.
I’ve got shield and trinket, 140 total solves across all races

The reroll seems interesting. But the screenshot that is shown in the video is someone at 188 solves that means he is around 100 solves over getting 450 seems like its just been good rng if we are talking 12-20 solves that got more luck into them.
All these "tips" like the rerolling thing is just copium, it doesnt increase your chances at all, because why would it. That would be a very strange way for the profession to work.

I like arch, its a nice thing to chill and farm while listening to music if ya got nothing else to do pre patch. I think people are too invested in trying to get the epics atm, just wait till cata comes out to try to get gear, for gods sake chill. I personally have just been doing this and xmog runs, having fun spamming tbc raids etc

Cata is an expansion that will last half as long. They havent done anything to fix the archeology rng or the legendary quest item drops. The time between Firelands and Twilight is 3 months. 3 months is not enough time to get a legendary staff for 3 mages and 2 locks (25 man) and other casters (priest, druids). There will be a lot of pissed off casters.

Troll - Zin'rokh, Destroyer of worlds.
i have been assuming till i saw your video just now that their were rare dig sites that needed to be discovered to unlock the ability to be offered projects. One of those was the south barrens Dwarven Beal ruins [of course this my just be my timing with the posted hot fix on dwarf too]. Which after i found and dug at, i was popping for the next 20 to 30 projects and cleaned house. I feel it is the same way other races too. I have a guild mate that has a dig site just out side of ZG that i haven't seen before. once they get to 450 they have a stocked troll fragments to try and solve for the sword. My minimal Arch history shows i know of 8 dig sites in Northern Strangle thornvale.
today i completed Zin'rokh. getting dwarf dig sites is problematic at best for the staff.
These things aren't dropping...
wish this shit wasn't a secondary proffesion...now i have to waste a lot of time instead of grinding reps xD

You could ask the fucking devs about this bullshit and you chose not to, and you even had the audacity to say that it's pointless to farm when is going to be replaced with raid drops.
The Addon Archeology Helper (ARH) plus gathermate2 is GOAT and it's basically cheating
I never want to see another troll dig site again. Sick of it now. Some cool toys and mount, but I just want the staff so i can stop the endless grind XD

I did 4 dig sites then realized I have no interest in leveling archeology again.
407 solves over 74+ hours in 4 days. staff trinket shield obtained. got them all in the last hour within 3 solves of eachother kek
