The 1960's, when cars were inexpensive and gas was about 25 cents per gallon. I could still get gas for 29 cents a gallon in Maryland, until the end of 1973. The oil embargo started in October of 1973, and there was a gas shortage and prices went up.

All the 352/360hp cars got electric windshield wipers (no vacuum). To avoid passing too close to the redesigned exhaust manifolds, brake lines were routed across the top rear of the lower radiator support instead of across the cross member beneath the engine.

I grew up in this era...
At the time, a new model came out every yr..
Today, most models change every 5 or 6 yrs.
Back then every yr was distictive from the last..
Even if it sold extremely well new models took its place...
They had style & class .
Not like todays cookie cutter european design that often makes it hard to tell one make from another...
Now the industry that was the backbone of our economy is made in Mexico.
    Here's some irony for ya...
The Toyota Tundra is more American than Chevy, Dodge, Ford..
70% of the Tundra is made here.
While 70% of all other trucks are made in Mexico.
    Remember NAFTA ?
You can thank Bill Clinton for destroying our auto industry ..
And our government for destroying our manufacturing & industrial base for profits they make in China.
We pay 22% tariffs for American goods sold in China.
    They pay 2%.
    Why ?
Because it made our politicians & walstreet disgustingly rich while the middle class disappeared .
Now both parents have to work just to make ends meet..
Their combined wages are 30 yrs behind the cost of living...
American knowhow & production turned into American greed .
