Good video. Well narrated. I am a retired forensic patholigist from Australia and your video is very useful as an introductory lecture to the beginners. Well done. 👌
I'm a medical student in the Philippines who's interested in Pathology. There's not a lot of content about this specialty compared to others, so I appreciate you doing these. Hope to see more videos! 😄
Thanks for talking about this! Im a highschool senior, i got accepted to study premed and its been my dream to be a doctor since i could read and understand. Pathology is very interesting to me and i cant find many videos on this!
It has been so hard to find mentorship for aspiring pathology match candidates at my med school. We don't even have a pathology interest group, or a home institution to provide us with a pathology rotation, and we no longer have a contract with the VA in my state that previously allowed students to do pathology rotations. Basically I have been completely on my own for this whole process, and your channel has been a goldmine of information. Thank you so much for your content.
Thank you for sharing how it actually is on the other side...what ur sharing is really helpful for many...keep doing these..and now we have more respect for the forensic doctors....much love to you
Hello...can u please say if autopsies are must for every resident who chose pathology ?? Or nly some programmes?or every AP programme has this autopsy thing?what if we know we dont take forensic for sure even then is forensic rotation a must?
hi i hope you can give me an advice about going through humain dissection (autopsy) in medical school on emotianal and psychological level. is there any books or videos . ps i have an imaginative mind and i'm scared to open a door i can't close .
I won't lie, anatomy lab in med school is shocking at first, especially the sight and smell, but most people get more comfortable over time. We keep the face covered and have a ceremony at the end to honor the person who offered they body to science. Unfortunately it's not something you can skip out on, and I personally don't know of any good resources to help deal with the stress is may cause.
@@Baking_MD I searched in google before if there were articles or youtube videos but there is hardly any. i guess as you said it's something you get over as you get more exposure. i'm not scared of surgeries but dissecting is something i didn't have to face before so i thought i should prepare. i had a friend who gone to autopsie voluntary and she was haunted for weeks thank you for taking time to answer
Thank you for the video. I have some questions. How doable is it to do your residency and get a job afterwards in the same city/area? It seems like most people move at every step of the medical journey and wondering how necessary it is. I'm an older medical student and would love to just settle down somewhere after med school. Do you think that's an unrealistic expectation?
Hi Rebeca, it is definitely possible for residents to do fellowships and get jobs afterwards in the same area. You will just have to be flexible and will probably need to do AP/CP, do 1-2 fellowships, and might have to take for whatever job offer is in the area (might not be your dream job). I've known several residents from my program who has managed this because they have children.
Thanks so much for your videos! Is a forensic pathology rotation required in AP or AP/CP residency? I want to pursue Pathology but already know I don't want to do Forensic
It depends on the program. Ones that have sufficient hospital autopsy numbers, forensic pathology will likely be considered an elective. For programs that doesn't have a high volume autopsy service, you will have to get your autopsy numbers at the medical examiner's office, therefore forensic pathology will like be a required rotation.

I am always happy to share my experiences!
I appreciate you for being so real about this topic. Your insight was very much needed.
I'm so glad!

I'd love more videos on forensics! Really interested in the field.
Work in progress 😀

Medical autopsy is really intresting
Thank you
Very informative, thanks!
Amazing insight into medical and forensic autopsies, I learned a lot from this video. Great work :)
Thanks!
loll your facial expression really conveyed how you feel about forensic pathology
Love the video. Starting residency next month and my first rotation is Autopsy. We will see how it goes.
Starting on autopsy is actually good practice in preparation for surgical pathology. Good luck and I hope you enjoy residency!

If you do AP only or AP/CP, you will have to do autopsies or you won't be able to take pathology boards when you finish residency.
30 now. Can only avoid doing it if CP only.
@@FishBoneD14 It might change to 50 again after COVID.

@@Baking_MD That is good to know, thank you!
Does a foreign doctor residing in America to specialize as a forensic doctor receive a salary for all five years of specialization?
