    I couldn't abandon her.
    We have people. We got Vik, Missy, Panam, Judy, River, and Johnny. But Song is all alone. Yeah, I was pissed she lied to us. Hell, my V made a point of fucking over people that betrayed her.
    But, she needed us. Whether it was guilt or exhaustion she revealed the truth to us before it was too late.
    We were the only person in her corner. The only ones who could understand. And I'd made my decision a long time ago that I was gonna help her.

      But he keep helping people, he kept being a guardian angel to anyone who needed him
      That's why i choose the ending don't fear the reaper + temperance, bc fits perfect with my V, he saved everyone from a sure death in saka tower, even Johnny... A true hero to the end

    the mere fact alone that reed realised you’d make it to the shuttle no matter what spec ops they threw at you shows you that he knows what you’re capable of
    he doesn’t try to stop you from shredding through NUSA, so I truly believe he actually is there for songbird. He believes that what he’s doing is right, but as a nomad through and through I couldn’t let this woman be trapped for the rest of her life just because reed feels some unassailable debt to her.
    As of writing this comment I haven’t checked the gift Songbird left for me in that alleyway but I just hope I made the right choice, despite the fact that in the end Reed didn’t leave me with one.

      It worked for my Corpo run too. As a Netrunner Corpo Somgbird and I had so much in common that, even knowing she lied to me, understood why and where she was coming from; her being an unwilling participant in Millitech NUSA antics and me with Arasaka putting me in a similar situation only to try and zero me. How could I not stand by So Mi all the way…
      My only regret is that I had to zero Reed. Damn you CDPR…why you gotta tug at the heartstrings 😢

      As a nomad myself, I know knew how important freedom was to someone, and Songbird went all-in ten times over to live and regain that freedom. I was adamant on helping her regain that freedom as I gave her my word that I would help, even if it set me back to square one, and as the second rule of the old nomad code states, "your word is your bond."

    people dont know how important a soundtrack can make a scene feel, throughout the entirety of phantom liberty i find myself having goosebumps just watching and listening to the cutscenes (especially when song tells you she betrayed you then never looking back plays even thinking about it as i type this is giving me goosebumps) and the soundtrack. phantom liberty or cyberpunk 2.0 has cemented the game (at least for me) a game that everyone should play at least once, its such a beautiful piece of media and i have to applaud cdpr for that, everything was near perfect especially the writing you dont see writing in games as perfect as this ill even say the writing rivals rdr 2 which in my opinion is gaming's greatest single player story and cyberpunk close second.

    For those who saved Song: Y'all are easily manipulated, have no willpower or insight and bend over too easily.
    Girl straight up blames you for everything that she does wrong, is fully intent on never saving V from the beginning and intentionally uses them as a tool (she knew from the start that the matrix was a one-time use, she only wanted to save herself), then has the gall to call you a two-headed snake like she's a living saint that's never lied a single time. Not to mention she actively dodges anything V brings up involving her doing anything bad or tricking anyone, and actively uses many manipulation techniques on V throughout our time with her (Constantly saying "We're in this together" and "I only trust you with this", etc).
    Team Reed. Songbird got herself in this situation. Her fault for incautiously netrunning illegally from day one, her fault for getting in trouble with NetWatch which led to her getting recruited by the FIA. Her. Fault. We, as V, face our consequences for our stupid decisions, giving her a free pass just because she's "helpless" (bullshit and a half) is just sad. I'm getting what I was promised and saving a real comrade in the process.

  • @pigeotto3574

    I gave up her to Reed after she confessed. I understand the logic "she just fights for her life", but so does V. It was her mistake to tell V the truth about all of this before getting into the shuttle. Plus it's not worth Reed's death or destroying NUSA. Solomon is not clever fella too, but at least he keeps promises and gives V what he/she wants.
    We save Songbird, but:
    - We kill Solomon Reed;
    - NUSA won't survive this scandal with using Blackwall;
    - V doesn't get the cure and gets used and lied for someone else's survivale (which is understandable, but as Songbird says, he is in the same position)
    I don't think all of this worth of just one person. Coprorations will just tear apart all remainings of the NUSA and get stronger, so keeping country alive will be lesser evil. Don't appreciate slaughering on international territories tho, but that will be on Myers, not on the NUSA.
    CDPR did a great job with giving us a tough choice. None of the options are "good", neither people who are you siding with. Even if I helped Reed, I still had a small empathy towards Songbird. She just didn't have to tell me everything right before the flight. Nice played, but I like life more than hers. Also this choice was worth it with such an amazing ending.

      Kinda lame they cut the ending where both him and Songbird can survive, though. In the leaked dialogue from earlier in development, you could convince him to leave the FIA, and he'd basically end up like he is in King of Cups.
      I get they want to stick to their themes and have no happy endings, but one of the biggest drawbacks of the expansion writing-wise was their adherence to it over player choice and continuity, The Tower being another big example.

      @@Icy-be5vl People blame the shortcomings of the base game's story and its copiously cut branching paths and story lines on crunch and poor management without realizing they did the same exact thing with Phantom Liberty, albeit on a much smaller scale.
      Songbird also had different motivations and was more fleshed out, she wasn't as treacherous to everyone left and right and was more of a clearly trustworthy person. They kind of flipped that with everyone in Phantom Liberty, and made them all assholes who, no matter whom you side with, screw you over. I get it, but again it's a prioritization of themes over character or player agency.
      V actually got the neural matrix from her originally, and in The Devil ending, had a successful operation. Instead of getting wimped out by the NUSA, V ends up getting offered a job working security for Arasaka and goes to Tokyo. It's implied rogue AIs take over their body from Songbird's matrix, leaving them trapped in their own head unable to make their own choices, though the dialogue is too broken up to tell for certain.
      Hopefully with Cyberpunk 2 they take note from other RPGs, or even The Witcher 3 with their quests and offer the player more options as opposed to just cut everything again for themes. They rely too heavy on the "No happy endings in NC" without realizing that there are in fact mercs who get happy endings, it's just that the mass majority of them fail.

      @@Icy-be5vl I agree with you on most of those games, though I'd be remiss to point out a lot of RPGs that do... RPG'ing better. The Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Disco Elysium, etc.,
      There's a lot of other really good games. All of them tell a better story and offer the player more choices in the story that is told, in my opinion. New Vegas is an all-time great for me, just because if there is a character you think is an asshole, it doesn't restrict you from just killing them. In fact, you can just kill pretty much every character in the game if you really want.
      2077 wasn't just a disappointment to many because of its bugs at launch, CD:PR couldn't live up to the very high standards they set with The Witcher 3. While I think they do a lot right in terms of themes, worldbuilding, and design, it isn't nearly as strong with its characters or plot. A lot of that does, again, stem from cuts, like Panam being able to die or Evelyn being able to survive. Incompetence plays a role somewhere in there too, though.
